Once upon a time there was a great prince. He was great because his father (just before he went away to a faraway land) passed to him a great fortune. He himself did nothing to earn or deserve it, but, his father loved him very much and wanted his son to have all of his wealth as an inheritance.

So the prince who now had all his father’s wealth decided that he should have a new suit made of the finest materials known so that all could see his splendor. So he called for the royal tailors.

Now, the royal tailors were dubious men who themselves had grown rich by selling inferior and defective wearables to widows and orphans through their online televised shopping network called the Tailor Broadcast Network (TBN). Here they would invite people on their show who would loudly proclaim the wonders of the tailors work. They appealed to the windows and orphans’ sense of duty to their prince explaining that the clothes they were selling (when worn) demonstrated their love for the prince and that he was greatly pleased when he saw his people wearing them. They also told the widows and orphans that if the prince saw them wearing these clothes they would receive 100 times back what they paid. So, the windows and orphans spent all their money buying inferior clothes because they believed what the tailors and their dubious friends told them.

Now, when the tailors heard that the prince had called for them they formulated the craftiest plan yet! They said, “Lets go on the air and announce to all our viewers that we have developed a new process for weaving the finest cloth. We will tell them that this cloth is so fine that only those who have ascended to the highest spiritual level can see it. We will also infer that those who can not see the material are inferior”

So, the week before they were due to meet with the prince they went on the air and presented their new product. Their dubious friends came on the program too. They set on a beautiful sofa in front of a beautiful stain glass window and pretended to hold up this most beautiful cloth. After this they would all become solemn and sad and explain how sorry they were for the poor souls who could not see it. They would then become happy again and advised “those poor souls” that if they would buy more of their inferior clothes they would become enlightened and they would be able to see the new most special cloth.
(Their sales doubled)

Everyone in the kingdom saw the programs (including the prince). Of course none of them saw the new cloth. But, each was afraid to admit it. Doing so would have indicated to all their peers that they were not spiritual enough. All of them proclaimed publicly that the new cloth was the most beautiful thing they had ever seen!

Word got back to the prince about how beautiful this new material was. So, when the tailors presented him with his new suit he was elated! The fact that he could not see it troubled him a little at first, but, all the tailors, their dubious friends, and those in the prince’s court loudly proclaimed, “How glorious our prince is all dressed up in his new suit!”

The prince decided to have a parade so that all his subjects could see him in his brand new outfit! So, he marched down the main street of the town. All of the people cheered him on, each afraid to admit they could not see the special cloth as that would indicate to the world that they were inferior.

All was well until one small boy stepped out of the crowd and exclaimed in a loud voice, “Look! That man is naked!”

Everyone stopped, looked around, each thinking to themselves, “Yes he looks naked to me too”

Thinking fast, one of the tailors stepped up on the reviewing stand and loudly proclaimed, “Look! We have uncovered a plot to over throw our prince! This little boy is full of unbelief! He refuses to buy our clothes! He is spreading discord against the prince and worse yet THE KING!

So, the people’s anger turned against the little boy. A muzzle was placed upon him and he ordered never to speak about this again.

Soon, all the people in the kingdom were wearing a suit just like the prince’s, each seeing the nakedness, but, afraid to admit it.

And So, they lived claiming happiness ever after!

(when in fact they were cold and naked)

John, that was prophetic.

My 7yo son reads to me every night, and the book he brought home from school yesterday was, yup, "The Emperor's New Clothes."

A cynic or a skeptic would simply say it's coincidence; but I know better (:D ) - God is revealing stuff in my life that I've believed I got figured out, but in reality I'm naked and exposed.

I know others here can relate to your post. But it was for me. Thank you.

I think you're probably 100% correct. You having said that, I have no doubt that God gave him that story just for you.
