Okay, so I have a funny story. I was looking at a thread in the LDS forum, and there was this video disproving the book of Mormon. It was a very interesting video, and I wanted to look at this supposed book of Mormon, so I went to the LDS website and clicked on the little "get free book of Mormon" link, filled out a form, and was done.
So like two days later I'm sitting on the couch and my brother comes in saying there's company for me at the door. My first thought was "how did someone get my address" lol but I went and discovered it was Mormon missionaries (the elders from the local LDS temple). As quickly as they had come, they handed me the book and some of their church literature and left me alone.
Anyways, I was surprised at how quickly they responded! Haha if you even would think about action being taken that quickly in our church! Too bad we don't take lesson from the passion of non-Christian churches once in awhile..which is really quite sad if you think about it..
But anyways, you're probably waiting for the funny part..but the story's over now.
So I'm gonna quit burning the midnight oil and hit the hay. :) (Oh yes, and happy thread split everyone! Does this occassion constitue reason to get off of school tomorrow? ;))

Well I figured this behavior would be more humorous than that whole heretical blood atonement thing they have going on. You know, how the blood of Jesus wasn't sufficient to pay for some sins committed so their own blood has to be spilt. How they ever came up with that doctrine I'll never know, and even if I did know, I doubt I'd understand.

Well, as a watcher of Big Love, it seems you rotate the wives. But all wives make up a committee of sorts, and if the wives are opposed to something the husband wants to do they can overrule him. It's really weird.

Absolutely not. You have examined the material and teaching. You have found it inadequate. there is no need to feel guilty or that you have done anything wrong.

Who's right, who's wrong? Only Christ himself will be able to tell us in the end. As to the disagreement with your Baptist friend? Tell her that Martin Luther didn't have much patience with the Ana-Baptists and disagreed with them five hundred or more years ago. Ask her if she's more knowledgeable than him. That's true, maybe wrong was the wrong word to use, maybe trying to make me feel guilty or something. Actually is a Lutheran womens bible study using Beth moore who is Baptist. There's a lot of difference between the 2 denominations like baptism and the Lords Supper.

I grind and brew usually at the store or the coffeehouse. I did have a separate grinder, but I've always found that the personal grinders always leave some beans either totally unground or half ground and that just irks me. In order for me to grind all the beans equally, the finished product is always more finely ground than I would like it. I've thought about investing in a commercial grade grinder.

Shouts of heresy all over, most likely! LOL You should set up a few stakes in the backyard with some wood near the bottom. One for each Mormon. Then take them out to the patio for the discussion. If they ask what the stakes are for, tell them they're there just in case this discussion goes as expected. LOL
Actually, I had a chance to talk with some JW's that came to my house a few weeks ago. They were telling me that I needed to read my Bible everyday and believe in Christ. I love it when people like that stop by, cuz I always hit them with the question: "why?" And they said and I quote: "To be happy." LOL I said, but how does that erase my sin problem? I buy the beans and then grind them at the store if I can. My concern is the ongoing possibility of plastic containers and heating emissions that leach bisphenol-A from polycarbonates or possibly carcinogens. Hey guys, I need advice...
I've been thinking of offering art lessons to kids ages 9-17 in my area (private and semi-private) within my home. I'm stuck on what to charge though as I'd like to offer both an hourly charge and half hour charge. Supplies will be included and it depends on what the student desires to learn about to consider how much that cost will be. The reason I'm including supplies is so that I know that everything will be ready for each lesson.
Anyway, if you were going to send your child to private lessons, or semi-private with a friend, what would you seriously pay?

If they are male and female be careful. They have LOTS of babies. And the babies somehow get through the wire and out of the cage.
Some friends of the family got two dwarf hampsters from their grandma as a present once. The store told them they were both male, but as it turns out..no.
They ended up with dozens of hampsters they had to get rid of; we even ended up with one; and that thing lived a LONG time! Four years if I remember correctly; and it escaped it's cage for weeks on end sometimes too. You just began to think it's dead under a chair somewhere and bam you find it running around the basement..ahh..I miss that hampster..:( I want to buy another one but yeah the parents won't go for that.
Anyways the moral of the story is separate cages is a good policy for animals where gender is a hard thing to discern! :P

Good news indeed. Those stupid ole cell phones, you can't live with them and you can't live without them ^_^
I live on mine all day long
Well, when it comes to Cell phones, one has to live without them in Trinity County. We haven't any reception outside of the centre of town. The price of living in the sticks.;)
As to the hamsters, I think the average life span is only around a year or two. So four years is phenominal. I'll stick to Dogs though, thanks.
You know, it's really funny how God works sometimes. I won't give out the details yet (don't want to queer the deal). It seems sometimes that the Lord has solutions to our prayers before we even utter them. God is good.

Even with two of the same gender, you might want to separate them. Hamsters like to live solitary lives, and might fight if you keep them together. They usually live up to about 3 years, so yes, 4 years was a long time for that hamster!
I know all this because we have (and have had) a lot of hamsters. We have researched a ton on the internet...after our first hamster had babies... And we have a couple hamster books. We did give away two hamsters (both male) to my husband's sister, and she kept them in the same cage. They were from the same litter, so we thought everything would be ok. Unfortunately the "group scent" got rubbed off the first time the kids handled them, so the started fighting with each other almost immediately. They ended up killing each other not long after.

Sounds really nice down there, Rev. It got up to a sizzling 51 here today. Funny though, when the sun went behind the hill the temp immediately dropped ten degrees. By the time George and I got home there was ice forming on the roads and the car's R/V mirror. At least we're not as cold as Minnesota and Wisconsin though. Saw the weather report... Brrrr!
Well, looks like the job didn't pan out like I'd hoped. The customer told me today that he'd have to cut me back to two days a week. That's a loss of three hundred dollars a week. Well, I'll just have to go out and get another customer, right?
Calling all prayer warriors...:groupray:
What I didn't want to queer by talking about it was this job. Looks like my superstitions, as silly as they are, may have worked against me again. When will I learn. George is really disapointed and more than a little depressed. I'm wondering how the Lord is working this. Everything seemed to be working out and then... thud! We have enough to pay our friend back the money she loaned us and won't be able to pay the house payment we had thought we could. See, George is on the verge of forclosure. Like, one payment away. We borrowed the money to stave off forclosure and promised another payment on Wed. of this comming week, thinking that the work would provide it. The money is there, but we have to pay the money back to our other friend before the 6th. So, I'm wondering what we're going to do at this point. George is working part time for CalTrans as a flagger, but only works when it snows. It hasn't snowed for two weeks. Therefore no work for George.
Sigh, at this point... I think we'll hold onto the money and pray for a few days. Maybe something will out.:prayer:

It's not infected. Just inflamed.
My answer may also inflame a few members, but this truly does bring relief and healing.
I learned about this from an old blacksmith that I worked with when I was in high school.
Urinate on it.
I learned later that there is science behind this. The composition of urine is sterile, and gives it antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Uric acid, phosphates, other salts, and even some hormones.

Heh, urine is sterile, that's a fact. And I've heard the same thing.
Not sure I'd recommend it...but I have heard it.
Seajoy, now that the burn has stopped burning, you can use a little ice to bring down any swelling. Take an aspirin (or tylenol if you're cursed like me and can't take any NSADS) and keep the hand elevated. (that helps with the pain) If there are any blisters, DO NOT pop them. Let them be because the liquid inside helps with the burn. If they pop on their own, put nesporin on them and call your doctor.
When I worked in the ER, we'd use a bit of Dreft laundry soap to soak burns in to help them stop burning. It's a very very gentle soap. Dreft, cool water and then a bit of ice in the water once the burn had stopped. (burns keep burning even when you pull away from the heat.)
I sure hope it feels better soon!

I'll be leaving saturday to go along with my hubby for his next business trip. We'll be at a cabin on the lake, and there is no internet there....so........I won't be seeing you guys for a week. :)
It will be me, hubby, and several of our employees going. I'm the chief cook for the week....they are already calling me Hop Sing!
Anyway, I'll miss you guys. You are wonderful Christian friends. My 2nd family.

Oh, yes! I LOVE Constant Comment. It was the special tea my mom got out for company. We called it "stinky tea" because it's such a lovely orange-spice scent.
Each year on Mother's Day I get out her Belleek teapot and make a pot of Constant Comment, and remember her. And cry.
Well.. maybe some Lady Grey instead, I think. I don't want to get weepy over a cup of tea...

Many folks around here either have tire chains or studded tires. I have neither, but I do have fairly decent treads. I don't worry about myself. It's the other nucases on the road that scare me. :P

LOL!:D Actually, I rather enjoyed it. There's the advantage for you of being self-employed. No boss to say, "I don't care if there's TEN feet of snow! Get your a-- to work! " Of course today I have to dig Bess out and get down to Pine Cove and see if I can get some work done. Perhaps I can get the tractor started and scrape some of the snow out of the way. Hopefully, I'll have enough gas.
And no, I don't like living in a concrete jungle either. That's why I moved back up here. I hated So. Cal.
Oh yes, I almost forgot to pour out. I've some Oolong in the pot and there's still plenty of hot water in the kettle for those who want cocoa.:)

Not too long ago I had belonged to a community like MySpace, but Catholics were believed to not be Christian according to the owner and everyone bashed them. Besides that, since Lutheran beliefs can be so close to the RC beliefs, some of the things I would write in the "Groups" would disappear. Censorship abounds on private communities, so beware!
