Last year, every Friday of Lent (except 1st Friday when we always have Charismatic Mass) our Prayer Group worshiped with Taize.

Has anyone ever experienced this.
The lights in the chapel were turned off and candles were lit on the floor in the center of the room in the form of the cross. Our music minister chanted Psalms, quietly. It was an awesome time of deep contemplation and the presence of the Lord was blanketing us in such a powerful way.
We plan the same Taize experience this Lent.
I will post some videos of various Taize services.

Please share your own experiences with us.

Ours was a much smaller group and we did not have personal candles.
I think it can be adapted to your own worship.

I don't know anything anything about taize but during those "soak sessions" the church had that we attended before we moved to Fl, they would read scripture and we would meditate on the word..Wow that was a long sentence.

That sounds similar to Taize Kim.

talk about meditation, they chant praise and words from scripture together the whole time in a very prayerful setting.

(lol another long sentence)

peace be with you

Check out the videos.

Maybe someone has some more they can post.

Lent is such an awesome time.
Some of our Protestant Pastors in our area are now spending time during Lent and a few have even started praying the Stations of the Cross.

We have our Prayer Group in a Chapel, right next to the main body of our Church separated by a Plastic curtain that can be drawn.
While we are having Taize, another group is in the main Church Praying the Stations of the Cross.
We can hear those prayers faintly in the background and the group in the main Church gets our chanted Psalms in their background.

It is just awesome the way God works.

Last year, some folks in our Prayer Group went to visit one of the Local non-denominational Churches that was having Taize service. It was a variation of the one we used during Lent.
I am curious to hear if any of you folks are experiencing this form of prayer in your area?

I've never participated in taize prayer, but it's funny that you mention it; in today's church bulletin there is a mention of our church having taize prayer this Friday. I might check it out sometime. My primary forms of worship are the mass, adoration of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and the rosary.

I really do recommend you spend time on Friday at Taize prayer.
It is very contemplative and would be especially good for you.

What is the difference between taize prayer and spending quiet time in front of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, which I do all the time ? Isn't this contemplative prayer ?

Just two different styles. I love them both.

Taize sounds really interesting! I like how it's so 'contemplative'... :)

Can you share with us how it is done at your parish?
We will start next Friday night with Taize at our Prayer Group.
