Hi all,

I just thought since we have a new home here.. anyone who will be frequenting this thread could introduce ourselves... I'll go first! ;)

Name: Carina
Loc: USA
Intresting stuff about me: I am going to a "bible" church that teaches based on a baptist doctrine. I love animals, Ice Cream, kids and old people (no offence anyone. hehe). My mom's family is middle-eastern ... knowing that I betcha can guess my favorite foods!

I attend 3 bible studies a week and also read a daily devotional, read the bible on my own. I'm in major learning mode at the moment!

I thank God for Erwin, and his God-given abilities for creating this site!

Ready to hear the next intro... :D

Affiliation: Reformed Baptist

I was raised agnostic and became a Christian around the age of 18. I went to a non-denom church and gradually came to Reformed Baptist convicitions. I spend most of my time studying philosophy and church history when I am not working. I especially love the study of the early church fathers and issues of interpretation and language.

I spend most of my time in the Reformed room, but I also enjoy the Baptist, Lutheran and non-denom rooms.

I am married and have a daughter who sings very well (and she's a drama queen too... it just goes with the artistic talent I guess =)

kayanne--was raised in a rather liberal protestant church that didn't take the Bible very seriously, didn't preach salvation through Christ, and sadly was just kind of a social club.
I was saved at age 16 through a friend who shared the gospel with me. I now attend an independent Bible church that most closely alligns with General Association of Regular Baptists. We have a fantastic preacher!!
I have 3 children; I homeschooled them for several years (up to highschool). The first one is graduating from his Christian highschool in 3 weeks, then attending Baylor (Baptist college) on full-tuition scholarship (yep--I'm proud of him, I can't deny it!)
My dh was just baptized about a year ago, and is now active in our church and growing spiritually. PTL!!!!!!!

hey y'all.

Im in my 30's. stay at home mom.

i grew up "Part Time Catholic". was saved in an Assembly of God church 7 years ago. Now i go to a baptist congregation.

I also am involved in 3 bible studies- John, 1 Thessalonians and am almost finished with a Deuteronomy study. Great studies! Im going to study - on my own- Exodus during the Summer months and looking forward to that.

I really love the whole bible but am really into the OT right now. I have learned so much about God than i ever thought i could by studing Numbers, Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Its such an insight to the holiness of God!

anyway, i will stop rambling now.....

Good Day,

My name is Bill, I attend an Independant Baptist Church and have been there for 13 years. Was raised a marginal RC by what is considered a good Roman Catholic family. Been a child of the King for better than 20 yrs. I tend to be reformed in my theology which drives my Pastor nuts and makes for good healthy disscussion IMHO.

I'm so happy to see a Baptist board! The other one seemed so broad.

Let's see...I do volunteer work as an adult literacy tutor, I sing in the church choir, I serve on a committee, I'm also on a short-term prayer team for my church, I try to organize stuff for a singles group at church, I have a dog that I love to pieces...

Just some fun stuff...I'm the pickiest eater alive, I don't think dancing is wrong (lol) but I couldn't dance if my life depended on it--at least not well! And...hmm...I had cheesecake on stick this weekend for the first time. :)

I enjoy music and roller coasters.

I was kinda reared in RC, though I never went through with communion. When I was 13 God delivered the Gospel to me through a youth pastor at the local SB church, and I declared His Lordship over my life. I've been at that church since then.

Currently, I'm attending Boyce Bible College (undergrad school to Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) to study Missions, Evangelism, and Church Growth.

Call me Liz. I was raised Mennonite Brethren, and still consider myself Mennonite, although I haven't been part of a Mennonite congregation for about 20 years. Have been in Baptist & Evangelical Free churches since then, and currently in an Evangelical Friends church.

I'm studying for my MDiv at a large non-denominational evangelical seminary.

For those of you who don't understand my "handle," I like Dostoevsky.

I am a stay at home mom and run a non-profit organization after losing my daughter to the inner cords of a window blind almost 2 years ago. She is my Avatar. There have been many fruits to my ministry to grieving mothers. I thank the Lord daily for my salvation (1998).
I am married with 3 children one in heaven who was the twin with my youngest (almost 3) and my oldest Maddie who is 7.
I attend a independent Bible believing Baptist Church. The Lord lead me there after losing my daughter. Its along story, maybe I will post it someday. Just by hearing it you will now that the Lord was in it.
I was raised in a Catholic home with parents who were still in love until Dad died in 1998 and Mom died just 8 months ago. I am truley blessed that I was raised in a home with morals, however, I wish that there was more biblical influence on me rather that doctrines.
Nice to meet you all and please take the time to see our website. It could and has saved many lives!

I visited your website. I am so sorry for your loss. I pray that you continue to heal from your tragedy.

:(

When my daughter was 2 i had a neighbor babysit her once. the neighbor walked outside for 1 minute and when she went to check on my 2 year old, she found my daughter with the blind cord around her neck. my daughter had climbed on the bed and got the blind cord around her neck. the neighbor was able to get the cord off with not much damage-but i just shudder to think if my neighbor had gone to do something else before checking on my daughter! it sends chills up my spine. they are so dangerous.

G'day folks,

My name is Nola and I'm from South Australia.
I classify myself as a Christian who attends (went for the first time last Sunday!) a Baptist church.
Around here nearly everyone is Lutheran cos it is a real German heritage area so I have to drive for 45 minutes to get to my church.
It is a cool church, the Pastor gives the sermon in conjunction with a PowerPoint Presentation, pretty neat, huh?!

Ummm....I live in a 12 house town out in the sticks and I have got 2 little dogs and 3 chooks.
I am currently working 2 jobs and going to school as well.
My favourite thing is the Lakota language and culture.
I am only a new Christian so I have got lots to learn and am looking forward to it!

Seebs. I attend a Quaker meeting these days, although I probably won't be a member for a year or so. (Quakers are not famed for hurrying these things.) Raised Lutheran, but didn't really believe it; drifted around through agnostic atheism to agnostic deism, to agnostic theism, to agnostic Christianity. I still describe myself as an "agnostic Christian"; I believe, but I can't say that I "know". Been at ChristianForums for about two years now. I'm a writer, programmer, and whatever else comes to hand.

There's a thread on the topic. To make a long story short, the church has no formal creed, but I think most Quakers have fairly traditional positions on most of those issues.

Hiya all!

I'm Echoes Peaks around these parts, and (Amanda every where else).

I've been Baptist for about a year and half now. I have the pleasure of attending Episcolalian, Baptists and a non-denominational missionary high school as a kid. I was raised Presybterian for the most part, but I entered a Baptist church and just never left. (Actually, I entered several...but that's another story) :)

Umm, struggling college student right now. I'm actually on my way next week to do urban ministry with a non-denominational program in Washington, DC which I'm excited about. I'm hoping to do quite a bit of work with non-profits next year when I graduate.

Either way, I'm so happy there's a Baptist forum. I can feel the love in here:)

Hi All! I am not sure where I fit so if I do something out of line you can toss me out of here! Actually, most all of my beliefs fall in line with Baptist. Depending on the church! Soooo...I think I will call this one home! (But I get along with others too so we shall see!)

I was saved and baptized at the age of 9 and to this day remember that feeling of contentment. Raised Southern Baptist, To fundimental Independant Baptist then the other side of the family was Catholic. I fell away for years, believing in God but did not understand the Bible. It was not until the first of this year, reaching the ultimate low in my life, similar to Green Eyed Lady, suffering losses, that I truly believe He picked me up and held me dear to Him and quietly and clearly breathed peace into my soul again. Since that time I have been a junkie. Learning all I can about His path for my life. This time, I will not loose my way with the Spirits guidance, and will always know the secret to true contentment!

Great to meet and re-meet all of you!

Well... probably most of you have some idea of where I come from :) but here goes:

VERY Short version: born, baptized, absolved, confirmed, educated in another faith. Went on to teach, serve, speak, and defend that other faith (with vehemence). In college I was confronted with the gospel for the first time directly... I fought it and publicly debated it. I wrote against it and tried to prove it wrong... but the seed was planted...

Seven years later (while teaching a class in said other faith), I had some difficulties in my life and sought counsel from my other faith. Made big mistake by actually studying the Bible... started listening to Oliver B. Greene... couldn't believe that God could see all my years of service, celibacy, and religion were worthless... struggled with the idea, but knew I was a sinner... God visited my sins upon me and flooded my mind with my own sin through conviction by the Word... I cried out for God to save me... I tried to make my new faith compatible with the old... didn't last long... left old faith... mother cried... friends shocked...

Piddled around... called 700 Club... got in AoG church and was baptized there... mother cried (not happy - see previous baptism)... didn't trust teachers... trusted Bible... left AoG (I embraced eternal security)... got in a discipling relationship with two men... embraced dispensationalism... got married... got invited to speak at Baptist churches... got invited to write for certain publications... was invited radio guest... had 4 kids.

In there somewhere: Left secular band... did nothing with music... guitarist friend (also of my former faith) got saved... we formed band... I now attend SB church, but will fellowship with all born-again around Christ alone :)... play bass in praise band... joined Christian Forum... found Baptist room... saw a lot of non-Baptists... had flashbacks... found some friends... praised the Lord...

Believe me, that is the short version!!

I attend a First Baptist Church (they are an American Baptist Church)

My story?

I grew up in a pentecostal/evangelical church, but God wasn't for me. Got into a life un-becoming a human being and at the age of thirteen was arrested for the first time. Before the age of sixteen I think I had racked up over a dozen major felonies.

Bounced around after I turned eighteen. Managed a pizza store, lived with a death wish, and no outlook on life. I became an accomplshed con man and a liar.

One year I travelled to California with one paycheck, and on the way there I met a homeless guy named Billy. Nobody liked him, but I fed him and gave him some smokes. I had no idea why I was going to California, I had no one there. By the time I got to LA I had $40, and no where to turn. Around the corner i saw this Billy guy and he said since I had fed him on the bus he would take care of me on the streets. I wouldn't ever have to beg for food or anything.

He was right I didn't. We hung around in a gang of homeless in Anaheim. I wanted to go home. A funny thing a song kept going through my head. Elvis Presley singing, "Lord help me Jesus, I've wasted it, so help me Jesus, my hearts in your hands..." I remember laying on a porch one night and Billy brought up the subject of God. He told me God did love me. Funny when i look at it now, but I didn't buy into it then.

I called my folks, and neither would/could help me. My dad mentioned that I should call an uncle, who owned a construction company. Maybe he would help me. So I called and he said yeah. I was to take a bus forty miles to LA and the bus ticket would be there in the morning. So I did it. Said goodbye to my friends, and went to LA. I got to the window and there was no ticket. I called my aunt and she said that my dad had called and told my uncle not to do it because I was a liar, theif and drug addict. Well he had two out of the three right anyway. So I walked the forty miles back.

I went to a church and asked for help, but they didn't have any way of helping me except going to the police station to get a voucher for a nights stay in a motel. All the guys told me it was a trap but something told me to go. I was lost alone, and terribly afraid. They gave me a room for the night. The guy at the motel told me how to get on assistance. I went to the place to get food stamps and the lady instead gave me a bus ticket home.

I would love to tell you that after that my life changed and I was a brand new man, but it wasn't until twelve years later, last year in fact that I found myself on my knees in the kitchen begging the Lord to forgive me for all that I wasted, and all that I had done with all that He gave me.

Folks I should have been dead from failed suicide attempts, jealous husbands, or in prison, but the good Lord spared my life. I am living proof that it is never too late.

My Psalm:
Psalms 116:1-9 "I love Jehovah, because he heareth My voice and my supplications. 2 Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, Therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. 3 The cords of death compassed me, And the pains of Sheol gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. 4 Then called I upon the name of Jehovah: O Jehovah, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. 5 Gracious is Jehovah, and righteous; Yea, our God is merciful. 6 Jehovah preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he saved me. 7 Return unto thy rest, O my soul; For Jehovah hath dealt bountifully with thee. 8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, Mine eyes from tears, And my feet from falling. 9 I will walk before Jehovah In the land of the living."

Hello all-

My name is Terry and my wife and I reside in South Dakota. It's lovely here, albeit a bit cold and windy on January nights. We have three children who are all out of the nest and doing quite well. We foster, and I suspect we will adopt in the future.

I am a professor at a public university in SD and enjoy my work very much. God has blessed us.

My spiritual journey began when I was 16. A good friend led me to Christ and even though I have not always been as faithful as I should, God holds on to my soul. We attend a Baptist Church (SBC) in our town and it is a wonderful blessing.

I enjoy a good book, a great cup of coffee, baseball, and being with my family.

Hi everyone. I am pretty much a newbie, I joined the site a couple of weeks ago but haven't formally introduced myself. I am 20 yrs old and live in NS, Canada. My real name is Susan by the way. I sign my posts as ~Grace~ because my alias is Grace_of_God--but Grace isn't my real name. I was born and raised Roman Catholic and left Christianity completely after my confirmation (I was actually unsure about making my confirmation in the first place but I had to). I made Jesus pretty much non-existant in my life for several years, but He called me back just a couple of months ago (although He has been TRYING since I left, I was just ignoring Him up until now). Since then, I have been trying to find my church home and have just recently decided that I would like to be a Conservative Mennonite--however, just my luck, there are none around here so I will have to have fellowship in another church until I am financially able to move. Anyway, I am glad that this board exists here; a safe little haven in cyber space to come and chat with one another! I hope to see you all around. May God bless you all! In Christ,
~Grace~

Can we sticky this for new commers????????
HELLO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!
GEL

I was reading some old threads and came across this one. I think this is a good idea that GEL had. You think we could get this as a sticky?

While I was reading this I realized that I have been a member here since March and really have never introduced myself either. I just come and ask my questions and do a lot of reading of threads. So, I guess I better let you all know a bit more about me :)

Well, my name is Tracie and I live in West Virginia. I love the mountains here, they are very beautiful indeed. God sure knew what he was doing when he created them....amazing! I am a stay at home mom of three young boys....7, 5 and 2. I have been married to my husband now for 11 years.

When I am not running around after the kids I do enjoy quilting. I am working on a friendship quilt that the ladies at my church is doing. We have 26 ladies making a block....so this is going to be a huge quilt! I enjoy camping and getting out into God's country. Enjoying the peace and serenity that comes along with it. I also enjoy reading the bible and learning all that I can about our Lord. I am a new christian since February 7, 2005 to be exact. I'm not sure what the statue of limitations are on calling myself a "new" christian...but I figure a year. I just realized I'm coming up on the 6th month mark.. I sure do love the Lord and thank him everyday for the many blessings that he is doing for me and what he has done for me. Like bringing me out of depression and being a social phobic. Now, I am free from the chains of Satan and enjoying the blessings of God. I am never leaving my eyes off of Him.....ever!!!

Well, hopefully we can keep this thread open cause I sure would like to get to know you all better! Take care!

God Bless!
