That I love this:
Question 1: What is the chief and highest end of man?
Answer: Man's chief and highest end is to glorify God, and fully to enjoy him forever.
:)
That, I find, is tremendous.

If I never got any further into the catechism than question 1 I would be content with what I learned. I pray that I will always confirm that answer with a hearty AMEN.

Question 1 and its answer, of either the larger or shorter Catechism, is the complete answer to the question "Why are we here?", of which so many, many people are searching, and in all the wrong places.
Our society is so Biblically illiterate that knowing the 107 questions and answers of the shorter Catechism, will give you more Bible knowledge than the majority of the American Clergy.

What an amazing, wonderful, delightful truth in that question. It brings so much joy to know that we are to enjoy God and will spend eternity with Him and it also keeps us in perspective when we ponder that we are here to GLORIFY God.

I find myself constantly repeating this question to myself. And I need to. I also find myself constantly repeating Heidelberg Q1: "What is your only comfort, in life and in death? A. That I belong -- body and soul, in life and in death -- not to myself but to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ, who at the cost of his own blood has fully paid for all my sins and has completely freed me from the dominion of the devil; that he protects me so well that without the will of my Father in heaven not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, that everything must fit his purpose for my salvation. Therefore, by his Holy Spirit, he also assures me of eternal life, and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him."
