Has anyone ever experienced Holy laughter? I know it may be termed differently to some, such as Holy Spirit laughter, Spiritual laughter, laughing in the Spirit, etc... I would love to read some personal testimonies on it, and if you feel you received a healing in any way from it.

I have experienced it a couple of times and wondered how many others have. Peace and Blessings.

Oh Isabella, I have experienced it a few times. It is like imagine being filled with alot of Joy and then just being completely over glad to the point of laughter about what God is doing. Like the way I felt when I had this experience a few times was that "God is unstoppable" and then laughing at His ultimate power. It is like total awe.

There is all sorts of descriptions from all sorts of Charismatic/Pentecostals where this manifestation of the Spirit is concerned.

Holy Laughter, I believe is real. However like other manifestations of the Spirit, it can be counterfited by the enemy.

All of the manifestations or gifts of the Spirit can be counterfitd by Satan. All of them. Even the Holy Mass is.

Everything must be tested. In this case we are testing the manifestation of Holy Laughter by the Fruits.

Also by the Gift of Discernment.

As a leader, the first thing I will look for is, is the person manifesting laugher, being disruptive. This is a biggy.
Satan will always try to disrupt a Spirit Filled assembly.

Are we discerning the Holy Spirit? Are the other Fruits present.

Not all uncontrolled laughter is from the Lord. But, it surely can be.

Test everything.

One of the reasons why I beleive that the Laughter I experienced with some friends was from God was because it came during prayer and after prayer and also it came from a day when we were coming together in unity to do great work for Jesus.

I've seen it a few times.. I remember particularly a very wonderful and mature woman in my pentecostal congregation who I found laying on the floor once in absolute laughter.. I knew then that it was authentic because she was not the kind of person.. ya know..

I've never tried it unfortunately.. but maybe some things come from the same origin, like when we cry of complete joy in the Lord or when we are close to exctasy.. I dont know how to even spell that word and dont know if I ever was.. but something very wonderful did happen to me once.. something that I cannot even attempt to write about in words..

Like our elder sister PD here, I have been in the charasmatic movement since the early seventies..Alon with God''s moves/awakenings, satan always provides counterfeits operation via the flesh..I was always leery of things showing uo and after I read about the laughter deal, I was a little skeptical about how much was flesh. The town we lived at before our present place here in Pa had a Saturday night ministry where we would have some praise and worship then fellowship snacks and games.. A friend was up front sharing and I I just all of a sudden started to giggle to myself about something..Pretty soon someone beside me started and within minutes the whole place was in laughter and tears.. What is is about Holy Ghost goose bums as I get them when I share things like this..Anyway we all felt this release and peace afterwards..Had it not started with me i would have been a little skeptical..I knew it was something out of my control as I am normally pretty sensitive to the Spirit and pretty level headed..Ha , God can fix that....Let God Arise......Blessings in Christ..Kim

Thanks for sharing. This is similar to what I have experienced. A friend of mine told me about Holy Laughter and I didn't believe her. I thought it was hogwash. I said to her well, that will never happen to me! She then said to me, "never say never".

If you knew my personality, you would know that this laughter would not be an option for me. I tend to be reserved, and shy in groups.

But when the Holy Spirit is on the move, and wants to wake me up, well lets just say, He really got my attention and humbled me.

Just three days after my friend said that to me, we were in at a prayer meeting and bible study. We all gathered to pray, as were were in a circle, holding hands, praying in the spirit, all of the sudden I got this urge to laugh from my gut. I tried to hold it back, I got the sweats, and shakes from trying, it HAD to come out. I started to grunt and spit a giggle out, then there it came, I was laughing hysterically, it seamed to go from one person to another and then the whole room of us were laughing and holding our bellies. This went on for about half an hour. I was laughing so hard, I was crying, my face and shirt were soaked. I was on my knees because I couldn't stand. My belly was hurting because I couldn't stop.

The Leaders who were an older couple, and extremely reserved, were in awe of what was happening. They had never experienced it either. It was the most amazing thing.

Some were raising their hands to heaven, some of us were laughing out the name of Jesus, and some were on the ground holding themselves.

When it was over we all felt as if we each had individual heelings of one form or another. Then we went on to discuss this.

When I went home, an hour after that. I was sure my family would think I had gone to the bar, and not to a prayer meeting. I was literally holding the walls to walk. I felt like I was drunk. I couldn't believe it. How could I feel drunk when I didn't have a drop of alcohol?

I even asked the Holy Spirit to help me and please stop, because my family would think I just came from the bar. LOL. Well, He didnt stop, and I had to go right to bed, while still giggling. Now, I never say never. He He. Peace and Blessings.

Yes I agree. Every Spirit must be tested. Satan is vary tricky.
Discernment is the key, you are so right about that!

Well I am positive that we will all get the same icon in heaven.

Until then, we press forward seeking both maturity and full unity in the knowledge of Christ our Lord.

I feel sure that this gift of laughter has to do with healing. I think it is much like tears.
There is a book out, by I think a Doctor named Cousins on the healing power of laughter. I should have googled it but it is getting close to bedtime.

I believe we are programed by society to hold our emotions in check. Emotions are treated like a dirty word in some societies. They aren't. They are a gift from God.

I ask any new parent here to describe their first moments with a brand new baby. Tell me what you have felt at any special time during a son or daughters life.
Can you really love your husband or wife without feeling emotions?
You even get emotional over your best friend, your dog. Ever lose an old pal?
Emotions are a special gift.
Laughter happens to be one of them. A healing gift and and expression of love and joy.

Just be discerning. That is the main thing. Test everything.

CatholicFlame

It sounds like good discernment with this gift would be whether or not there is a reason to be laughing in the first place.

Like, are you really joyful at what God has done, well tell me what He has done!
