You are forgiven, Rockytrails. We ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God, and thank GOODNESS we have Jesus on our side!

I certainly look forward to many more conversations with you in the future, Rockytrails.

To God be the glory!

Don't worry about it any more - water under the bridge and all that.

I think I need to remind you of something. You confessed what you did was wrong, you made a public apology and I'm sure you also asked God for forgiveness, now its time to forgive yourself, otherwise the devil would have us defeated.

This last step in repentance is very important, one that many folks grieve over for far too long. We all make mistakes and we all sin. We are per St Paul both saint and sinner at the same time. As long as we live in this flesh we will sin, but we also know that Jesus dies to pay for our sins. So Jesus has paid our debt, He has taken our guilt and shame. Now rejoice in His precious gift and forgive yourself. We enjoy your company and your contributions. Your slate has been wiped clean. Now forget it and look forward to the friendship that we all offer.

Thank you, seajoy! I finally got a few hours sleep last night. He was up often though. At least his migraines are gone now.

I hope and pray that he is on the upswing, chicken pocks nearly killed my cousin. He had very few pocks on the outside, but had them on the inside of his eye lids, in his mouth, and in both the upper and lower GI tracts. I don't even want to think about it.

Thankyou for reminding me that the best part of repentance is that Jesus has already won my forgivness and thanks for your forgivness as well.

I don't remember it now, it was about 10 years ago.

I have an impression that the sick part was about a week.
And all these spots then just dried out the next week.

The only aggravating thing about having chicken pox is later in life it makes you subject to shingles. I had it about 5 years ago during VBS and didn't know what it was. I though it was spider bites. It got so painful that I finally went to the emergency room. They said that since I waited too long that a shot might not work, but it did anyway thankfully.

My hubby got them the day after his high school graduation. He suffered quite a bit, and was pretty sick. But he got better....without even a pock mark.

So it is not uncommon for adults to have it.
Radidio just said he had one too as an adult.

I just learned something new ... or, the Lutheran males have a tendency to go through second childhood. ... :)

Oh, ouch! I feel for both of you.

Did your daughter ever have them? We chose to vaccinate, so I've not had to nurse anyone.....yet.

My grandmother has shingles and wears a pain patch at all times to keep the pain away.

Oh, shingles.
I heard this is very painful and dangerous.

But this is what I do not understand.
If they know that the virus is dormant, why not just kill it with a shot?

My mom had shingles last year, right about the time David was born, which was, come to think of, exactly a year ago yesterday. Heh.

She was so worried that she wasn't going to be able to hold the babies (Aaron wasn't quite one yet) but fortunately for her the shingles were past the contagious point.

My husband may or may not be getting over a case of them. He had some bites (or so he thought) and they were just random on his back. He didn't tell me about this until last week - he's had them for a MONTH. Mom was pretty sure it was shingles, as was I. He is such a doof. Fortunately they appear to be getting better, but holy cow he needs to let me know about these things!

Shingles are not fun. They are very painful. My poor mom could hardly move when she had hers.

My daughter received the vaccination as a baby, but I read an article from March of 2007 that stated that the vaccine wears off.:sigh:

If they know that the virus is dormant, why not just kill it with a shot? From what little I remember when I had them was the doctor said that if a person comes in early after diagnosis then the shot will resolve the problem. Don't really know what that mean. Don't think it's a cure because they reoccur.

The outside painful spots/rash follow the cluster of nerve endings in the body close to the skin. Mine were from the groin and circled to my back. Sometimes they appear other places. Also as PW mentioned. A person is contagious to children.

More and more out of touch with reality. Christmas was unknown to her and her body is absorbing less and less nutrition from her food. :sigh:

It always pains me to hear this about grandparents. My great-grandma is on the road to dementia herself, just the other day she tried to put her hearing aid in her eye. Fortunately she was wearing glasses. It's funny, but sad at the same time.

My other great grandma didn't lose touch with reality until she was 103 years old. And then the only indication of such is that she started calling me Betty, which is my grandma's name. She got to live long enough to see her first great-great grandchild (my oldest) and then about six months after he was born she told Grandma Betty "see ya later, alligator" and went and laid down and never woke up.

My husband has already said he doesn't get old. He doesn't know how well he will be able to cope with MY dementia!! ^_^

Sorry to hear about your grandma, porterross. Is she a believer? If so, then of course you know about the comfort of a blessed reunion in heaven...

I've never had shingles and don't need'em, I got about everything else ^_^

I lost my dad to the big A as we call it 8 years ago. I was the one who figured out what was wrong, everyone else just thought he was a jerk.

Funny thing is that he had completely ignored my kids all his life and when he finaly was pretty far gone he learned to be a part of myfamily and love his grandkids. It was actually a blessing. His faith grew real strong in his last couple years and I have some good memories of all that.

It is a difficult disease though. Before he died, he no longer knew who I was, and thought I was his brother who had passed away a couple years earlier. One time when I went to visit him in the home he pointed to an older man in a wheel chair and said that was his dad  Of couse Grandpa had been dead for over 25 years.

His last month was pretty sad. He broke his hip the day after Christmas. He had it replaced but never walked again and went down hill rapidly after that. All we can really do is love'm, the rest is in The Lord's hands :holy:

Oh, boy, is she!

Going peacefully in your sleep is the only way to go, but I have no desire to live exceptionally long and be dependant on others for too long. Seeing my grandmother waste away has driven that reality home.

I already have memory problems so I've decided to make the most of it when I am older. The payback for my daughter will be most rewarding and fun. ^_^

Her grandma is a sweet wonderful lady that I feel honored to know. I had the privilige of giving her the Lord's Supper when I was there.

Luther said that we are both saint and sinner. He never gave any percentages concerning either though. So if you're 99% sinner, that leaves 1% available for saint. So, you are both. ^_^
