What is the strangest/weirdest/funniest question
someone has asked you about your beliefs?
For me, the funniest is when someone asked
me if Chanukah is the day Jews celebrate
the birth of Jesus.
For strange, it's people wanting to know how
we sacrifice animals.....

The strangest funniest question I was asked "Is it the Canadian Christmas in Canada this weekend?" when it was Canadian Thanksgiving (Christopher Columbus Day). I live in a border city and an American asked me this.

Not humorous.
My father asked me if I still considered my marriage valid after leaving Christianity.

Well, at least they knew it was some kind of holiday!
So, maybe you can explain what Boxing Day is?

I did have someone ask me once, "Why do the Jews wear 'Hanukkahs' on their heads?" Boy now that would be some BRIGHT headgear! :D :D
Guess he got it mixed up with "yarmulke".

"Did you keep the lights off on Sabbath so no one could see you counting your money?"- a kid asked me when I was a kid.
"Would you have to give up the priesthood to play cricket or could you just try playing it in your cassock?" - a kid to me two weeks ago.
"Is Christian the same as Bhuddist?"
"You're Jewish and Christian? Wow, is it true Jesus was a Jewish Christian too?"

I don't know if this is fits into this category - it is a comment rather than a question, but it always seemed strange to me. Throughout my life, often times when I have told people that I am Jewish, people tell me that they have never met anyone Jewish before. To me, that is a bit bizarre. I personally know lots and lots of Jewish people :D .
I imagine that they may have met Jewish people but just not known that they were Jewish.
I don't know.
But often times I meet people who tell me they have never met anyone Jewish before and they know nothing about the Jewish religion other than they don't believe in Christ.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit this.....but I thought Boxing Day
was the day all the Christmas decorations were boxed up and
put away until the next year!! duh....

"Did you keep the lights off on Sabbath so no one could see you counting your money?"
A related question to that was someone asking me if Jews used
electricity or not. Apparently he had heard we don't turn lights
off and on during shabbas, and assumed we did not use
electricity at all. I think he got us confused with the Amish....

LOL! :D :D Whew. (Ivy wipes eyes.) Thank you Contra. I think that first one is my favorite.
As an offspring of the clergy, I can attest that they don't wear their clerical robes all the time. :D

I could understand a Christian saying that if you told them you didn't believe in the Divinity of Jesus- but still that would be a pretty silly thing to say! :)

Contra, I wanted to PM you with this question, but I can't find out how to. Yes I know, I don't understand computers for the life of me.
Ok question, is this reply because I sport the Menorah icon? This is a question not an accusation.
Just wondering.
