and here is the crux of the issue that so many people (myself included) forget about when criticizing other churches, synods or people:

We should certainly step softly when choosing words with which to criticize. We should be on guard against our own sinful flesh, which would look upon doctrinal disagreements as a license to speak harshly about an erring or wavering brother. Many an unkind word has been spoken in the heat of debate. Here we need to remind one another that treading lightly is an act of love.

That site has a lot of old quotes in it. AAL isn't even AAL anymore, it's Lutheran Brotherhood. I'm just curious...what was your hope in posting it?

There's a lot to wade through. What is your opinion of this site on unionism?

Actually, neither AAL nor Lutheran Brotherhood exist anymore. They merged to form Thrivent about 5 years ago or so.

 DOH that's right. I knew Lutheran Brotherhood didn't sound right, either, but for the life of me Thrivent escaped my attention.

We thought it was "cute" when they did that...they still cater to Lutherans mainly but they wanted to branch out so they lost the Lutheran moniker.
