Hi,
This thread is to try and see what people have and have not experienced from the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. I would love to hear what people have been through so far.
And who knows, there could be something inspiring in this thread for someone, so please post your heart out!
Lord Jesus, please bless your people here!

I voted for most of them. I guess I didn't understand what the one about making friends was about.
The Renewal is confusing me a bit where Retreats and Life in the Spirit Seminars are concerned.
Early on in the Renewal, a Retreat was a weekend Spiritual Growth event.
A life in the Spirit Seminar took (usually) 6 weeks. That was one day or one night a week for 6 weeks with some homework (most often scripture reading and prayer on a certain gift or topic) ending with Prayer for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and Mass.
Now days they have weekend "Life in the Spirit Seminars".
I am trying to figure out the difference.

Yeah that sounds right Peaceful,
The old way they did LSS was to meet once a week over a lon period like you said. Nowadays, I have been to some Seminars that actually took only one day. Wow talk about a speed course. Well I think that there can be different ways of doing it.
About retreats, I put that in because I had the thought that a retreat was something a little special. Not neccesarily for receiving the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, but more so for those who already have. It is like a secluded retreat sometimes in peaceful setting where people go together to be refreshed and strengthened. I haven't been to one of those yet, but I have heard some good things about them.
peace be with you peaceful :)

That is how I see a retreat too.
I am torn about the length of a LSS. I think the shortest I could approve of in our group would be a weekend.
We just completed a 7 week Seminar and it was very hard getting many folks back for that length of time.

That seems to be true. Nowadays people have such short attention spans. I am speaking for myself here btw. I think that now you have to speak powerfully in the span of time alotted. Make it count in the seminar and pray hard for the Arrival of the Holy Spirit in His strength.
