:wave:HELLO!

Since 2008 is creeping up on us, I thought it would be a good idea to share new year's resolutions!!!! So..........I will start!!!!!

1.) More prayer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :crosseo:
2.) Read the Bible daily--complete in one year.
3.) Continue exercise and lose 40 pounds by August (I would to love to drop 60 by then, but trying to be attainable--is 5 pounds a month reasonable?!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:P
4.) FIND A JOB (and hope I love it and that they are military friendly, etc., etc.)! ^_^

I don't really do New Years resolutions (I personally never have seen the big deal with New Year's Day myself, it's just a date change ;) ). But I am currently trying to, or about to start, a list similar to your four.

1 and 2, same here.
3 for me is more like eat better and eat less (living alone and eating right is a hard, whenever I'm with others I eat alot less just because you don't have a big pot of food staring just at you and you actually have to split the food).
4, well, I want a new job. What kind of job? I wish I knew.

I want to lose 50 lbs by September. I started trying in October, and lost 11 pounds pretty quickly, but since then I've been regaining and relosing the same 2 or 3. I need to find an elliptical at Goodwill or something. It's hard to get out to exercise, with these two babies.

I need to lose 30 lbs. When I was sick earlier in the year, I did lose 10 lbs., but gained them back again when I got sick again, and didn't lose my appetite that time. :(

I would be happy with 25 lbs. lost. ^_^

1. To read the entire Bible in a year. (I've never actually done this) (Shame, shame, shame).

2. To get my novel trilogy completely edited and polished. (I despise editing)!

3. To practice playing my autoharp everyday. (I go in spurts, and you can tell when I haven't been practicing).

And (of course) I really hope that my husband and I can convert by the end of next year...that would be wonderful!!

1. I have joined a 12 week weight loss challenge here: http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_individual.asp?gid=15820 (http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_individual.asp?gid=15820) I want to complete three challenges this year.

That site is free and offers a great way to track calories and nutrients in their food logs as well as tons of exercise and nutrition advice.

This is the first time I have joined a challenge there but I think it might motivate me to stick with something for more then a couple weeks.

I have set very realistic goals because I get too frustrated when I set goals too high and I give up.

2. So, my 2008 goal is to lost 10% of my current weight, then 10% of that weight then 10% of that weight.

3. But more then weight loss, I want to exercise and increase my general fitness. I want to be able to walk on the treadmill for 60 minutes 5 days a week at 3 miles an hour (outside of warm up and cool down). And, I want to have moved to the "Intermediate" work out level in the strength training work out I have had approved by my Chiropractor.

4. The other goal is to start competing in the shooting sports. I want to get in the top 50% as a score. (But I hope this goal is too low and I will need to adjust it.)

5. I want to make one or more friends that I can hang out with and go shopping or have lunch, etc.

6. I want to improve on my work performance especially in my paperwork, getting things done faster and being more organized.

7. Read at least three books related to my faith this year not counting the Lent and Advent devotionals which I want to finish reading in 2008. (I start to read them but forget after a bit and don't finish them.)

8. And lastly, to organize and declutter my home. I want all of my closets cleaned out and my garage organized and no more storage boxes in the room where my treadmill is.

And a little refresher for the new year... :P

1) Commit to the Jordanville prayer book instead of hopping around all the prayerbooks and horologions I have collected.

2) Commit to the Old Calendar if I am indeed switching parishes. It is tempting to keep one foot in the New Calendar but in the end that is probably not going to work.

3) Lose 35 pounds by my birthday in April. I am doing Diet-to-Go. It is pretty good so far but I need to stop snacking on holiday chocolate :p

4) Exercise 3 days per week

5) Be better about keeping up with family and friends.

But the most important things that I want to happen I have little control over; I can only pray.

1) See my son baptized

2) Get him into a better situation for his learning disabilities.

Monica, how do you like Diet to Go? I'm thinking about it... I was debating about NutriSystem but everyone says it looks like dogfood and I'm really visual about things so I don't think I'd eat it.
Although, I guess I should just make the effort of trying to cook too LOL...

Get serious about prayer (morning, meals, evening).
Get serious about reading the Bible again (The Explanation of the New Testament by Blessed Theophylact are on order).
Get serious about spiritual reading (lives of the Saints, etc).

1) Be more diligent in my daily prayers
2) Catch up on my reading
3) Eat more healthily
4) I want to run a 5k this year
5) Got Rosetta Stone and am looking forward to learning the basics of various languages and seriously brushing up on my Spanish
6) Learn to crochet
7) Declutter my house and delude myself into thinking that we could make the cover of Metropolitan Home one day

I like Diet-To-Go. I have been doing the vegetarian plan and there are always a few dairy free options for fast days which was a concern. There have been a couple of selections that were not my favorite but over all, it's good. The only problem so far is that during the holidays, there is still lots of extra food around and it is hard not to nibble all day. Once I get disciplined and get the goodies out of the house, I hope to see the weight start coming off.

Now with hubs gone I can eat a lot better... I got the panels up on the wall so I can finally set up my permanent icon corner. I've started cleaning a lot so that's moving along... and I'm starting this weekend with a good set of church... Vigil, Divine Liturgy, Vigil and Divine Liturgy again... Hopefully that will give me some traction again...
I've been working out at least 4 days a week... I need to up it to 5 at least.
I kinda cruise around and look at the walls for a few days after hubs leaves...
Haven't touched the sewing machine as I want to clean out the office properly before then.

WOOT  Good job Jen! How long is hubby gone for? Yes, it is hard with the work out issue. I have gotten into the routine of going Monday-Friday for 40 minutes to an hour a day. This way I can have weekends off. ^_^ If not Mon-Fri.......then throw a weekend day to make 5 days. I've also gotten into the bad habit of STAYING UP LATE and SLEEPING IN LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( Anyway..............good job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*More church, actually some prayer... ahem... I stink. - Good start, then I got a terrible cold, attempting to pray
* Regular exercise, want to lose 20 lbs (which is what I've gained since I moved to the US) - same as above (well, minus the pray part but that might help)
* Better eating habits, esp smaller portions - that I'm doing good at, probably because hubs is gone
* Read more, less time online - I'm reading but also hanging out online
* Finish my big piece of embroidery - I've set it up at least
* Learn to use my new sewing/embroidery machine well - not started
* Make a set of Deacon's vestments - see above
* Declutter and deep clean the house (and keep it that way) - making great headway
* Try to be kinder to people - we fall, we get up, we fall, we get up, someone beats us with a bat, we deserve it, we get up, we fall... :sigh: but I haven't been crabby going to the store or post office if I had to wait ridiculously long.

Resolutions usually wind up being just wish lists, promises that we aren't going to keep. Unless we identify what we really intend to commit to, and keep to with gritted teeth, no matter what, it's not likely to become reality.

Mine are more like the reminder list I write each day, just for the year... works well for my ADD each day, maybe it will work for the year too... plus there is a few days left of it too :D
