The importance of praying the Rosary
Shared by: Marie Jo Bulchand
Father Gabriel Amorth, chief exorcist of the Vatican writes:
One day a colleague of mine heard the devil say during an exorcism: "Every Hail Mary is like a blow on my head. If Christians knew how powerful the Rosary was, it would be my end."
The secret that makes this prayer so effective is that the Rosary is both prayer and meditation. It is addressed to the Father, to the Blessed Virgin, and to the Holy Trinity, and is a meditation centered on Christ.
I write in addition to the above:
Please enunciate each word of the Rosary clearly and distinctly. Do not 'trample on the heels' of the words of anyone with your words. Do not speak over the leader, if you are following, or the responders, if you are leading the Rosary.Remember that they also are having a conversation with Mary Our Mother and it is not polite to speak when someone else is speaking. In the case of the public Rosary there are only two people speaking, the Leader and the Responders. Each are speaking to their Mother and listening carefully to her response within their hearts as they meditate on the scene before them in their consideration of the mystery being spoken of and interpreted and translated into their lives.
Spread this powerful prayer of exorcism, The Rosary which contains the Our Father, the Perfect Prayer, prayed five times in the recitation of each set of the Rosary's Mysteries, backed up by the powerful prayers of Our Mother who prays with us as we pray 53 Hail Mary's. The Eternal Father described to a group of us, through a Visionary Friend of mine, what happens when we pray the Rosary, saying, "When you pray Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now....., the Blessed Mother comes instantly to your side to pray with you. And she does not come alone. She brings angels with her. And not just one or two for she is the Queen of Angels, so choirs of angels come with her.
And she and Jesus are joined at the heart and cannot be separated so she brings Jesus with her. And Jesus cannot be separated from the Trinity so He brings the Father and the Holy Spirit with Him. And where the Holy Trinity is,all of creation is, and you are surrounded by such beauty and
light as you cannot imagine in this life.
Your Mother comes as Our Lady of Grace with her hands out-stretched. Rays of light emit from her hands piercing your body, healing you and filling you with graces. This is your inheritance which was poured out from the heart of Jesus on the Cross, when the centurion pierced His Heart with the spear, into the only pure vessel ready to receive such graces at that time, Your Mother.
Now as you pray the Rosary, and if you feel sleepy, just recite one Hail Mary, and you receive your portion of these graces.
" However, to be effective as an intercessor, one must stay awake and focus on your prayers as you meditate. "Anyone who goes to Marmora and prays the Rosary cannot be touched by Satan." Is it any wonder that anyone who prays the Rosary from the heart is so blessed and protected and
powerful in their prayers for others?" Amen.

I just wanted to share two short testimonies about the rosary with ya'll.
Well the first time I tried to pray the rosary it was sooo difficult. I was not used to praying for such an extended period of time. But I knew that the Lord was asking it of me. It was like I kept just saying, someday , someday, but lol that someday came a year later! whoa, okay I am a verrry slow follower.
God help me.
the other testimony is just that when I pray the rosary with my mom, we are flooded in peace. It is like, by the time we finish, it feels like the whole company of heaven is there with us in our living room.
Peace beyond words.

Indeed, the rosary is a very powerful weapon to be used against the enemy. I don't like to even talk about this, but over the years, on occasion myself and my family have come under some very strong attacks by the evil one. Many times, I have been woken up out of a sound sleep by evil spirits and not only could I feel their presence but I could also see them. Whenever this would happen, I would immediately pick up my rosary (which was always on my nightstand beside my bed), and begin to pray. I can attest from my own personal experience that praying the rosary does work and it is my weapon of choice when doing battle against the enemy.
Let us not forget the message that our Lady gave at Fatima and at many other apparitions throughout the world; time and time again, she has emphasized the importance of praying the rosary daily. She also stated that through praying the rosary that her immaculate heart would triumph and in the end, the devil will be defeated.

Hawko, you reminded me of something that happened to me after I was just beginning to return to the catholic church.
Well after a time of seaching and trying to discern the Lord's will after being in some protestant churches for about a year, He led me back to the catholic church. If was not so much any teachings of the church that pulled me in though, it was His presence there.
So I had a hard time trying to mentally aquies (I can't spell, or type) to the teachings of the church. I already did agree with some of the church's teachings, but some were hard, very hard for an evangelical mind to hold.
So after reading and learning all that I could about the beliefs of the catholic Church, I still hadn't prayed to the Virgin Mary, as this was the hardest thing for me to accept. I felt like I would be offending God somehow if I prayed to Her. And so I wouldn't do it.
But little by little, God was working on my heart and in time I was almost ready but not quite.
And so I had this dream one night. I dreamt that I was laying in bed and that it was dark. Then I saw a wispy face - barely noticable and looking down at me. And I heard a menacing voice say "I am your spiritual enemy." And then I was being smothered there in bed. It was as if someone had put a pillow over my face to kill me. Well, in the dream, I began to pray. First I said an Our Father. I felt like the evil spirit was a little less powerful as I prayed. And then the miracle happened. After the Our Father, I began praying the Hail Mary Prayer. And all of a sudden the evil one rose off of me and was going away. I kept praying so fast and desperately our Fathers and hail Marys one after another. And each time I prayed the Hail Mary, I felt more and more peace from that horrible experience. I woke up in great peace and safety.
It was a peace beyond all understanding. And, well, it still is! Except is just gets deeper.

I have had that evil experience happen to me also. I would wake up from a nightmare and feel an evil presence in the room, sometimes pressing down on me so I couldn't move. As I began to pray the rosary, I would feel cold chills leave my body, one after the other. I would continue to pray until this evil presence was totally gone, which would be sometimes up to an hour of prayer. Fortunately, this has not happened to me that often, although I did have a couple of occurrences which lasted night after night for about a week at a time. When that happened, I contacted my parish priest and asked him to bless our house. I believe that when this happens, it is a part of our spiritual growth process. I now know how to do battle with the evil one, and how to win. Another thing to remember is if we are being bothered by the evil one, it is because we are doing the Lord's will and the evil one is trying to interfere with our spiritual progress. Nothing to worry about, it means that we are on the right track.

Praise God for you having your rosary right by your side and you using it against the enemy!
I am always surprised (shouldnt be though), when I hear how many people actually use their rosaries as a true weapon against satan. I use it all the time also.
I think many of us have had experiences with the enemy attacking at the most vulnerable times, especially while resting. I try to pray the rosary when I wake, and again just before I retire. This way satan stays away from me. When I forget! Yikes. Lets just say, I am really reminded of it.
I carry a vary special rosary on me at all times. You never know when you will be required to "Stop, Drop and Pray". Of course we dont need the rosary to pray, but it really helps the focus, and satan detests it. Peace and Blessings.

Fantastic idea! I have a girlfriend who walks daily for her exercise as well, and uses that time for saying her rosary. I think she says about three or better during that time.
Shew, what a prayer worrier. I aspire to be able to do that also.
Happy New Year. May the God our Father give you the graces needed to say the rosary as he calls you to. May our Blessed and Holy Mother Mary polish your prayers as she intercedes for you and present them to her Son our Lord Jesus, perfect and Holy. Blessings and Peace.

Our Lady of Medugorje told the visionaries in one of their apparitions...
"Through prayer and fasting, you can stop wars and suspend the laws of nature".
What came mind was, if that is true, through our humble prayers and fasting from the heart, we can accomplish this, then surely we can do it for what we may feel is a much lesser scale. Like praying and fasting for an individual, or small group.
I also try to remember to add to my prayers and fasting the intention of our Lord, and Blessed Mother's heart, and for the souls that pierce their sacred hearts so they may turn back to God. Peace and Blessings.

I was reading about this some time ago! :) actually reading about Medugorje really changed how I view Mary...and prayer...and strangely, Communion. As I was reading I felt God convince me about the Eucharist... just wanted to say that..I know that not everyone believes in the Medugorje apparitions, even some Catholics don't...but I think I do. When I read Mary's words I felt like it was the truth.
Sorry I don't have anything to say about the Rosary as I've never tried it. Do you have to be Catholic to pray the Rosary?
But on a similar note; What do you all think about the chaplet of Divine Mercy and St. Faustina? One day I was on Facebook (LOL) and saw that one of my friends joined a group about this...so I clicked on it and read the story, and it stuck in my head ever since.
Do any of you pray the chaplet? Obviously it's not like 'magic words' or anything; it's the heart that I think matters here..if we pray it trusting in His mercy He will hear us and answer... what do you all think about it?
God bless

Hi Monica, The rosary brings you into deeper prayer, reflecting on Christ life, death and resurrection. When it is prayed from the heart, you have the Blessed Trinity with you. Also all the angels and Saints pray it with you along with our Holy and Blessed Mother Mary, as they intercede for us with their prayers. The Lord has allowed me to see in action the results of this form of prayer. It is the most powerful tool I know of that satan hates and runs from. I have seen that with my own eyes as well.
The Divine Mercy.... AHHHHHHHH! I have been saying it for years, and often several times a day. There are not to many times when I don't pray it with dry eyes. Because of my call to intercessory prayer, second to the rosary, this is what I use. Gods MERCY, there are no words to describe what happens to me in prayer when I use this. It's almost as if I have no awareness that I even have a physical body. In prayer from the heart, it can take you deep in the chambers of our Lords merciful heart. I have seen also amazing results from using this prayer as well. Have you read a book on St. Faustina and how the divine mercy was given to her? My favorite book is "Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, Divine Mercy in my Soul".
Anyone can use these tools and prayers. Prayer is prayer. Sometimes there are focused one such as the rosary or the divine mercy, and then there are other forms of prayers. Sometimes we even may have a prayer language (tongues).
If I can help in any way, please let me know.
Blessings and Peace.

Yep, thats how you say it. They also have it in song (two versions of the song). It as also moving to sing the prayer. I believe you can get it on dvd or download it from u-tube. If you get it from u-tube it may have another song before the prayer in song, which is "I am a voice crying for Mercy". Blessings and peace.

I came across this quote recently:
"In her Diary, St. Faustina writes:
Satan has admitted to me that I am the object of his hatred. He said that "a thousand souls do me less harm than you do when you speak of the great mercy of the Almighty One. The greatest sinners regain confidence and return to God , and I lose everything. But what is more, you persecute me personally with that unfathomable mercy of the Almighty One." I took note of the great hatred Satan has for the mercy of God. He does not want to acknowledge that God is good. (1167)"
Well that made me think...indeed God's mercy is very powerful, and if people really understood it they would not doubt that He can forgive them...I know some people who don't want to come to Christ because they feel that their sins are too big. Of course no sin is too big for God. But no doubt the devil wants us to think so...even Christians sometimes get these thoughts - I have.

Oh Minica you will not believe this. I was reading out of the diary of St. Faustina just now and put it down. Then began to go to look at the posts. I was reading what she said in # 812- "Today I have fought a battle with the spirits of darkness over one soul. How terribly satan hates God's mercy! I see how he opposes this whole work".

Ah yes, I never am without my rosary either.
I believe that all Catholics have a reverence for mary and praying the rosary. It is part of our faith. Now I do agree that not all Catholics say the rosary daily, but I have never known a Catholic yet to not have anything to do with Mary or the rosary at all? How can you not if you are Catholic?
Would you like to share how the rosary changed you? I would love to hear it. Peace and Blessings.

I absolutely love the Divine Mercy Chaplet, I have the CD of it in song and it is unbelievable!
When I first came back to the Church I learned of the Divine Mercy Chaplet and bought many booklets to distribute to my friends and family. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy also.
After I pray the Rosary, the peace just flows.
It can be many hours later, and I won't be thinking about anything, and something that would be stressful would happen (usually hubby or the kids :) ) and I would just be so peaceful.

I had problems with my emotions, which was out of my countrol. Deep wounds of my soul from the past. It was very hard for me, that confrontation with my emotions, every day again and again.
I was praying rosary, when i was going to job every morning, in the bus. Interesting - i was not thinking about my problems my needs, intentions etc., i was just praying rosary, because.. i always did it going to the job:-) And one day i suddenly realised - there is no more any bad feelings in my. The same situations, same pictures from the past in my mind - they offcours still were in me, but i didn't feel the pain, the anger. For me it is the proof, that our prayers do work independently, do we feel something or not. Effects of a prayer have nothing to do with our emotions, which i'm feeling praying. Because Someone is hearing us all the time. And watching us. God (as the Creator) is free, He is the Lord of the time, our past, our life today, every one relation; and our future offcours. He knows better when is the best time for us to give us or take from us something. Only we can do - is to keep our life simple. Simple with God. In fact we love complications :-) To make our life more complicated as we need, because life with complications it's more "attractive". I'm 33 and now i'm discovering how beautyful and fascinating is the simple life. And exactely the rosary teach us how to be simple, quiet, but full of God's presence. Just like Mary is. I'm charismatic. I know how fascinating is charismatic praying. I feel the "power" of God. Praying rosary you will propably feel nothing like that. Only effects of that prayer, which you will experience, will show you, that it works.

Thanks for sharing, that was vary moving. Peace and Blessings.

My grand parents were underground soldiers during WWII. After the fall of Warsaw Rising '44 my grandfather was lost in action. My grandmom was sended to concentration camp with her one year old baby. She asked Mary every day to survive and find her husband. And it is happend. She survived, the baby too. One day just after war she was in train station in Cracow, about 200 miles from home. In one moment she looked around and seen her husband walking thru the station. They spended all life together. People tould me here many similiar stories. Mary is the lady of our average, basic needs, specilly in extremal situations.

Our Lady of Medugorje told the visionaries in one of their apparitions...
"Through prayer and fasting, you can stop wars and suspend the laws of nature".
I really am very impressed by what our Lady has done in your life so far. Can you tell us a little more about your experience that day when you began to believe in our Lord's true presence in the Euchrist?
Thank you sis! I love to hear testimonies!

Hi Sisters (Monica, Darlene, KathNancy),
I want to invite you today to pray with me in Spirit together as sisters in Christ. At the three o'clock hour, which is the hour of our Lords Mercy, I will be doing the Divine Mercy in song, and then the rosary. Can you join me in song, dance, and prayer?
We can unite together and storm the Heavens with our prayer intentions. It would be really nice to have some sisters to pray with at that hour.
Anyone else who wants to join in please do. I don't want to exclude anyone. Peace and Blessings.

"Father Gabriel Amorth, chief exorcist of the Vatican writes:
One day a colleague of mine heard the devil say during an exorcism: "Every Hail Mary is like a blow on my head. If Christians knew how powerful the Rosary was, it would be my end." "
This quote I found a little bit problematic.. maybe I am just too sceptic.. but it seems that Jesus says that the devil was a liar and a murderer from the beginning.. so that means that whatever he says we shall not listen to it.. we shall never go into a dialog with him and we shall treat whatever he says as being deception...
The quotation above therefore does not make much sense to me...
About the Rosary... I felt the way you describe CatholicFlame.. long after I became a Catholic and even sometimes still I can suddenly feel like 'what if they are right those who say it is wrong to pray to the Virgin Mary'.. I get insecure.. Afraid to displease Jesus ..
But when I pray to Mary I feel such peace.. I feel in generel that the set prayers are a sort of rest.. I can rest somewhat during prayer if I both pray personal prayers and the rosary mixed up in each other.. Also I have finally come to accept into my life that a few Hail Marys are better than none at all.. I once heard that if you could not pray a whole rosary you had to start at the begining because every time because what you had already prayed was useless.. No need to say to you that such talk is destructive legalism and it takes the joy out of prayer eventually...
Freedom and love has to be the core of any prayer and any sacrifice to Jesus .. otherwise you end up looking like this little one: :tutu: and that was not what Jesus intended.. Amen?

Thank you sis! I love to hear testimonies!
Sure! :) Well this was during exams, lol and instead of studying I was online reading about Medjugorje...I was taking a break I guess. I still can't remember how I first found out about it all. I came across this:
"Our Lady recommends Sunday Mass, and when possible, daily Mass. It has been reported by the visionaries that Our Lady has cried when speaking of the Eucharist and the Mass. She said:
"You do not celebrate the Eucharist as you should. If you would know what grace and what gifts you receive, you would prepare yourselves for it each day for an hour at least." (1985)
The evening Mass in Medjugorje is the most important moment of the day because Our Lady is present and She gives us Her Son in a special way. The Mass is more important than any of Our Lady's apparitions. Marija said that if she had to choose between the Eucharist and the apparition, she would choose the Eucharist. Our Lady said:
"The evening Mass must be kept permanently." (October 6, 1981)
She also asked that the prayer to the Holy Spirit always be said before Mass. Our Lady wants to see the Holy Mass as "the highest form of prayer" and "the center of our lives" (according to Marija). Vicka also says that the Blessed Mother sees the Mass as "the most important and the most holy moment in our lives. We have to be prepared and pure to receive Jesus with a great respect. The Mass should be the center of our lives" Our Lady is crying because people do not have enough respect toward the Eucharist. The Mother of God wants us to realize the extreme beauty of the mystery of the Mass. She has said:
"There are many of you who have sensed the beauty of the Holy Mass... Jesus gives you His graces in the Mass." (April 3, 1986)
"Let the Holy Mass be your life." (April 25, 1988)
This means that the sacrifice and resurrection of Christ must become our life, together with the hope of His second coming. During Mass, we receive the Living Christ and in Him we receive the whole mystery of our salvation that must transform and transfigure us. The Holy Mass is the perfect expression of the mystery of Christ in which we can fully participate in His life. Our Lady has said:
"Mass is the greatest prayer of God. You will never be able to understand its greatness. That is why you must be perfect and humble at Mass, and you should prepare yoursleves for it." (1983)
Our Lady wants us to be full of joy and hope during Mass and to make an effort so that this moment will "be an experience of God". Surrender to Jesus and the Holy Spirit is a very important part of the messages because it is the only path to holiness. To be open to the Holy Spirit in the Sacraments is the way we are going to be sanctified. In this way, Our Lady will obtain for us, the grace to become Her witnesses in the world to fulfill the plan of God and Her plan. Our Lady has said:
"Open your hearts to the Holy Spirit. Especially during these days the Holy Spirit is working through you. Open your hearts and surrender your life to Jesus so that He works through your hearts." (May 23, 1985)"
I read things like this about the Eucharist many times before in discussions here at christianforums, etc. And I wasn't convinced. But when I read this...suddenly, it just seemed like God was telling me that "this is true...the Eucharist really is that important". And I decided that I want it to be a bigger part of my life and faith, and to be able to take Communion with more reverence than I did in the non denom church. At first I was wondering if this was just a 'mood' I was in, but the impression was really strong and it lasted for a long time. Even after a week, I was still thinking of what I read and God gave me a desire to actually take Communion in this way. I also wanted to take Communion with people who also saw it in a literal 'real presence' way, although I would say that it is special in Protestant churches too. I struggled with this for a while because it meant that I would have to go to an EO or Catholic church to take Communion, and truth be told I didn't want to. Eventually I gave in lol, as you know.
The most interesting thing about all this is that the impression I got when I read that quote was so strong. It actually really surprised me. It felt similar to when I was first convinced about the truth of Christianity.
:)

I prayed the Rosary only once in my life, and I felt a lot of peace :) Sometimes I wonder if it's right to pray to Mary too, well the way I see it we're just asking her for prayers...like "pray for us sinners".
About what the devil said, I agree that he's a liar, I don't know if everything he says is a lie...hmm....I'm still kinda undecided about that.
Well I think it's fine to pray to saints as long as you pray to God most of all and remember that He's the one who decides everything in the end.
I agree with you that prayer is not about rules and if you feel like starting in the middle of the Rosary, that's not a sin lol.

This is strong for me also because I had some doubts at first about her appearances there at first. I do believe in all the approved apparitions of our Lady, like in Lourdes and Fatima) but I was hesitant because the Church had not made a formal declaration of authenticity for medje yet.
but then one day it was like, I can't remember how it happened, I just believed all of a sudden in Her apearances there as well.

Oh Monica, When I read what you wrote I began to get tears in my eyes. I was thanking God for the beauty he gave to you in realizing the importance of the Blessed Sacrament (the Eucharist), and Jesus' presence in it.
How wonderful you are getting to know Our Blessed Mother Mary. Through her, she is taking your interest in reading of the apparitions in Medugorje, and leading you to a much deeper richer union with her Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus, through the Eucharist (his body).
I went to Medugorje just last Oct. Our Lady drastically and profoundly opened my eyes and forever changed my life. There have been miracle after miracle in me going there, during my stay there, and all the way up to the present moment. The graces continue to flow even more now.
I wish you could experience it once in your life. It is a vary Holy and special place on this earth. People from all walks of life, and religious beliefs visit there. There is so much there that puts me in awe of God. The confessional lines are in every language, and go for hours, and every line is long. The devotion and prayer there is felt every where you go. It takes your breath away. Well I could go on, and on, and on.

How blessed you are. I am so happy for you, and a little jealous (in a good way). Dose your parish say the rosary together?
I had the same thing here where I live, then I moved out of state for a while. When I returned home, I relocated near my family which is an hour from my old parish. Although I am trying to see and discern where I fit in in my new home parish, my heart is still in my old one. But our Lord wants me here for a reason, so I have to be patient, and see where he leads me.
I really miss saying the rosary together with my old parish. They said it before weekend mass, and after daily mass.
Praise God they have a daily adoration chapel. Sometimes I am the only one in it, nothing like being in the presence of the Lord before the Blessed Sacrament by yourself. Indescribable!!! Ahhhhhh... I Love Jesus! Blessings and Peace.

Hey Isa,
Well at my old parish, yes. They pray the rosary every weekday together after teh morning mass. Like, that group has been interceding for years. To be very honest, I think that is why Our Lady appeared there. I think that maybe she wanted to reveal how pleased she was with our parish community. It was (and still is) a real community of fellowhip and prayer. I kinda miss it there too.
Wow we both have been re-located by Our Lord to keep the flame alive!
My new parish is a little different. It is not as big and has many different language communities who pray and fellowship there. I love it though because God literally sent me there. So I know that I am in the right place. It is more of a building community, as in it is being built up. My older church was perfectly strong already. Thank our Lord too, because that was a time of forming for me. It was a good nuturing place for me, great actually.

A rosary prayer is a series of prayers centered upon the mysteries of the Life of Christ. We contemplate mysteries like the birth of Jesus, the changing of water into win, the crucifixion, and the resurrection.
the whole while of contemplating, we are praying for Our Lady's intercession in being able to be more like Jesus.
The rosary is known as the weapon of choice against the devil.

Joab or CF would be the best persons to answer your question. The Holy Spirit has placed some strict guidelines for me to follow on these threads. Hopefully by their reply you will see the richness and depths of passion by how we offer up our prayers to the Lord, and use the rosary prayers. Well it is not superstitious in my understanding at all. I t is more like a firm trust that God will answer if it is according to His will.
I have a story that helps me to believe in novenas so much.
Tell me what you think of this all:
So my aunt was brought up catholic but had stopped going to church since she was a small child. later in life, I am sure she still believed in God but was far from a life of scripture and Church. She still is a the smae except I think now she believes in God much more than she did before. In fact I have talked to her about faith more than a few times and she is open.
Let me tell you what happened though.
So my parents recevied some money when my grandmother on my mom's side passed away. The used some of the money to buy a new car, lol our old one had already died. At that same time, my aunt and uncle wanted to begin a carpet cleaning business. So with the money left over, my parents gave them to help begin their business.
So it was about 13,000 dollars I think. and my uncle got the rest from a loan I think. well anyways, the business was not a success at all. He was doing okay but not great. He was not able to pay my parents back anything really. And after a while things were looking bad and my aunt wanted to pay back my parents. So they decided to sell the carpet cleaning truck and return the money. the only problem was they were getting no one to buy it from them.
They had signs posted but absolutely no one much interested in buying the van. Well here is how the novena fits in this. Sorry I am taking so long btw!
Okay so my aunt say the newspaper novena to St. Jude. It says if you pray, your prayers will be heard. She decided it was worth trying and I think she did believe to some degree, like I said earlier. Let 's see the prayer goes:
"St. Jude, glorious apostle, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the person (who betrayed our Lord) has caused you to be forgotten by many, but the true Church invokes you universally as the Patron of things despaired of. Pray for me, who is so miserable; pray for me, that I may finally receive the consolations and the succour of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (ADD YOUR PERSONAL REQUEST HERE), and that I may bless God with the Elect Throughout Eternity."
"May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be Adored, Glorified, Loved & Preserved throughout the world, now & forever. Sacred Heart of Jesus, please pray for me. Saint Jude, Worker of Miracles, please pray for me. Saint Jude, Helper of the Hopeless, please pray for me. Amen."
Our Father
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Gloria
Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
And you are supposed to pray this prayer 6 times a day for 9 days straight. It is about persistance as I understand it.
So! back to the story. She did not tell anyone that she was praying about this, the selling of the van. But she told me afterwards, I think becasue she knows I beleive in God! So she trusted me with this extraordinary occurance. She told my uncle too of course, afterwards...
So this is what happened. After the ninth day of prayer, a man who my uncle had met only once before liek a year before at his job was there doing so me maintenance. This guy travels around for his job I guess. So he says , Hey Mark, I saw that sign in your van, how much money do you want for it?
And my uncle goes "26,000 dollars."
And this guy says "oh well let me think about it."
and so later, I think a day or two later, I don't remember exactly, my unlce gets a phone call from this guy and he says "Is your van still for sale?" And my unlce of course says yeah.
the guy says "I'll give you 22,000 for it" and my uncle actually said "no, I want 24,000!" the guys says "hold on one second" and puts the phone down. (my aunt told me all of this btw). He comes back on the phone and says "okay I'll take it." And so he comes by their house, gives my uncle a check that he cashed, and then drives away.
Now this guy never looked inside the van, never test drove it, and was never seen again.
It was a miracle sent my God.
Don't you agree?

wow that took a long time to write! :-D
I do believe in novenas so much
I do novenas all the time! Once I had counted I was doing 9 at once. Let me tell you, I don't recommend that. I don't even know how it happened. It really is what I call a "God Deal". It took me almost three hours every night for my prayers, and this went on for about a year. Shew, the Holy Spirit was really doing a disciplined work on me there.

Oh you will love what Mary did at Lourdes Monica. If you watch that movie that I mentioned in the apparations thread "the song of Bernadette" you will absolutely fall in love with Bernadette and Lourdes.
There are just too many miracles that have happened there for me to doubt it now.
Cool :)

Thanks CF for for taking time to share...I and many others have the same stories from just asking the Lord. Sometimes, results come after one prayer..For instance when I had health problems in Fl. we both felt we should return home to be near our families..So we just prayed Lord we're both feeling this we will put the hose in the paper for next week and You guide our path. The house sold within the week and we got more that what we paid.....Ultimately, it's the Lord who answers prayer according to His will anyways...It does seem like alot of repetition but hey this is your forum and I not here to argue..Seems like it should be more heart to heart, but i guess that what I am used to.........shalom..Kim

Wilfried Stinissen OCD is the autor of many books about rosary. Just find some of them.
Rosary is called "the Psalter of Mary". Because of 150 "Heil Marys", just like number of psalms in the Bible. The method of repeating "Heil Mary" one by one is nothing else like the copy of so called "litany psalms", where one same line of text is many times repeated. Like in Psalms 136 and 150
In Old Testament you meet parts of text, wrotten just like litany. They are called "barakot" in hebraic, the list of blessings. The oldest christian litany is the fragment of "Didache". "Litany of Saints" is known since IV century. In the Middle Ages the rosary was very popular, but it was not the only one prayer like that. The reason was very simple. In that period only 3% people in Europe could read and about 0,5 could write. 97% of people were analphabets, even kings and nobels. So they just had to... remember. And "mnemotheic preyers" (= mneno theos, "remember the God") were created just to do it. So some medieval peasent or marchand has preyed "Father Our", "Heil Mary", "Credo" (!), thinking about the scenes from life of Jesus and using rope with knots to get the preyer some rythm.
It was the way to keep hard all rules of the faith and contents of Bible in his consciousness.

A novena is 9 days of prayer for some special intention. You can read about the first novena ever: The days leading up to the first Pentecost, in the bible!
:-)
Their intention was "Wait in the city until you have been clothed with power from on High. You will receive the Holy Spirit and will be my witnesses to all the ends of the earth."
The apostles and community remained in prayer during those days.
That is in the book of Acts chapters 1 and 2
A novena is persitant prayer with expectation.

Interesting comparing it to Acts. I can see them praying and the anticipation as they had no idea what the days ahead would hold... I just don't see some kind of formula prayer with a guarantee for an answer for following a formula. I guess it's a stretch for me to see the simularities..peace..Kim

Well I am sure that they knew what was coming although they didn't understand what the answer to their prayer would entail fully. and they expected it.
I am not sure what you mean in your post there.

It is not about formulas HisKid, it is about praying and expecting God to answer your prayers. Catholics love to pray for hours on end.
Do you know that some catholics pray for hours and hours at a time?
I'll bet you didn't!

Yes I do bro...A call to intercession is a lonely road but it accomplishes much... I have two papers with needs on and have many names of people on this forums plus I stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit as needs come in throughout the day..I love to pray with understating and deep groaning s. I just do it in a different way than shown here..peace to you..K

What exactly is a rosary prayer..
The Rosary is a series of meditations on the gospel that we contemplate while praying the prayers. Here is an example of what we contemplate:
http://www.theholyrosary.org/ (http://www.theholyrosary.org/)
I was always leery of novensa's printed in the local paper guaranteeing if it was printed and prayed 5 times it would be answered..Sounded like superstitious things to me..
They could be if it's misunderstood.
God answers according to His will...Not like the person praying or the saint has any special control to get God to change His mind..
Thats true and its entirely possible that the person could be praying for something not in Gods will however its a prayer that leads to His will and not ours so there is never disappointment. Our prayers are always answered in His will, not ours but if our wills are at odds with His then He shows us that too. Mother Angelica says if your not sure of Gods will then try it and see what happens.
We have important examples from Holy Scipture of how to pray which we emulate in obedience by the persistance of novenas and non-vain repetitious prayers.
Luk 11:8 Yet if he shall continue knocking, I say to you, although he will not rise and give him because he is his friend; yet, because of his importunity, he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
Luk 11:9 And I say to you: Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and you shall find: knock, and it shall be opened to you.
Luk 11:10 For every one that asketh receiveth: and he that seeketh findeth: and to him that knocketh it shall be opened:
Mat 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and you shall find: knock, and it shall be opened to you.
If you ever want to try the meditations of the Rosary or the Divine Mercy Chaplet to Jesus there is a neat little vb program that you can follow easily for free here:

Peace.
