Debate Pentecostal Beliefs

#6 WE BELIEVE...and practice two ordinances—(1) Water Baptism by Immersion (http://ag.org/top/beliefs/truths.cfm#6) after repenting of one's sins and receiving Christ's gift of salvation, and (2) Holy Communion (http://ag.org/top/beliefs/truths.cfm#6) (the Lord's Supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ's suffering and death for our salvation.

In 1997 I was living on a tiny military base that had a very small chapel. The Navy sent a Pentecostal preacher to be the chaplin of a multi-denominational congregation.

In April of that year, my son, then 6, decided to invite Christ into his life. He is an exceptionally bright child and at that time was very capable of understanding what was going on. I went to my base chaplin to share this wonderful news. In strak contrast, he told me the chapel could be used by me and another suitable preacher, since it is there for the congregation but he, the pentecostal he was, would not attend the service or conduct the baptism for my son. My son did not show signs of gifts and we were not pentecostal.

I WAS TAKEN ABACK!

I want to understand why this preacher would deny this service to my son and I am hoping that seeing the sides of this fundamental practice will help me understand this situation, and maybe help me forgive this man that I am still very annoyed with.

I believe the preacher could have baptised my son, regardless of our Baptist backround. The man agreed to serve this multi-denominational group in military service and did not.
I believe this preacher could have lost my son to the faith if I relyed on his advice of waiting on signs. Why do some pentecostals believe this?
I believe this preacher's view of the pentecostal doctrine does not support examples in the bible, such as how John the baptist baptised.
I hope I have done this debate thing correctly. Let me know as there is always room in this mind of mine for learning!

Sending Kind Regards,
