I'm not so sure of the whole "age of accoutability" thing. It's no where in the bible. Just terminology brought about by those that believe in the eternal torment doctrine. They couldn't condemn children to an eternity of torture of course.

The age of accountability is not directly addressed anywhere I know of...

However, Paul does address the importance of a believing parent in the home as it relates to the children in 1 Corinthians

1Co 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.

From ἅγοςhagos (an awful thing) compare G53, [H2282]; sacred (physically pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially consecrated): - (most) holy (one, thing), saint.

With the exodus everyone lost their life except for those under the age of 20 (accountability?), and of course Calab and Joshua, because of their faith. The price reconning, for a child until 20, adult there after. To go to war, men had to be 20 and over, and to enter the priesthood, again the age varies between 20 and 30.
It does appear from a range of scripture
Lev 27:3
Num 1:3
Num 14:29
that God does indeed consider there to be an age of accountability. The above are on a few on the subject.

I have never heard of the age of accountability being connected with external torture though. The thought that a baby/child that dies, has the misfortune to burn forever because of this happening, does not seem to be congruant with a merceful God.
Just my thoughts,
Tracey

2Ch 36:9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem, and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

8 years old and held accountable.

I've learned that when the word holy has been used in the scriptures it always reffers to a person or a place or thing, that either is or has been in g-ds presence.
