Assuming we hear the word of God, the Gospel, what happens if we heard wrong, or we not give it the real importance?, Or think that a little is enough?
MARK 4
23
Anyone who has ears to hear ought to hear."
24
He also told them, "Take care what you hear. The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you, and still more will be given to you.
25
To the one who has, more will be given; from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away."

I think we then run the risk of being deceived. Then we get on a kick of how we're the only ones with the real truth, and anyone who doesn't listen to us is deceived, yet the Bible says we are to council with one another, guard against being deceived, sharpen each other, and study.

that is the meaning of Romans 10.14-18 "except" the preacher is genuine ....I don't know what version of the Bible you're using, but neither "except" nor "genuine" show up in mine. This is not a passage concerning the validity of what is preached. It is a passage urging those who have the truth to go forth and preach what they know. or the comment about our salvation being worked out in fear and trembling ( eternal consequences )Your parenthetical comment about there being "eternal consequences" to not working out our salvation is a misinterpretation. The Greek word translated "work" is katergazomai and it means to "do that from which something results." This does not mean we have to "work" for our salvation. It means we are to "work out" what our salvation means in the context of the kingdom. In other words, discover what we are to do for God.
In Mark 4:23-25, the declarations of Christ were intended to call the attention of the disciples to His word, both written previously in the Old Testament, and of those spoken in their presence. By His instructing them, they were made able to instruct others. As He said elsewhere, don't put your light under a bushel, but expose it to the world. It wasn't about instruction to do as He said, but to preach what He said. The "doing" was part of their public ministry, but not what He was speaking of in Mark chapter four.
