to manage to get a hard copy of the Catechism for a reduced price? With a new baby and all the book budget is pretty non-existant, and as a lapsed cradle Catholic, I'm kinda feeling studying the Catechism is something I need to get to doing.

Try amazon.com. They have cheap copies listed.

You might get a free copy if you talk to the local priest.

I got my hardcover catechism (http://www.ewtnreligiouscatalogue.com/CATECHISM+OF+THE+CATHOLIC+CHURCH+HARDCOVER/keywords=catechism/page_no=2/edp_no=3248/shop.axd/ProductDetails) from EWTN before the second edition. I just looked and they have the 2nd edition in hard cover too but its not real cheap. I remember getting them for much cheaper when we handed them out free from Church. They weren't hard cover but I think they were only $9. You should be able to find it allot cheaper than the $30 on EWTN for the hardcover.

If you want really inexpensive then there's always online where its free:

CCC (http://www.usccb.org/catechism/)

or

CCC (http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/ccc_toc.htm)

Peace. (http://www.usccb.org/catechism/)

campusi.com is a website I use frequently as it searches lots of different online book sellers and comes up with the cheapest.

I use www.paperbackswap.com (http://www.paperbackswap.com) to get all my books. You swap your books you don't want for ones you do. I love it. Bookbizmom is me if you get on there :)
