I was good friends with a Mormon family about 5 years ago and one day while there 8 yr. son was on his way to school with his sister they hit a patch of ice and he died on the seen of the accident. I am not completely sure if i am right about this but is not everyone born a sinner?? And if i am wrong i am still wondering about his soul. See he never really had much of a chance of getting close to god and he died at such a young age does this mean he is condem to hell?? It is just something that has been in the back of my mind for may years and i was wondering if you guys/gals could help give me some clarification on the situation.
Thank you :)

It is always sad when someone that young dies but he is now in heaven because he had yet not reached the age of accountability. Remember what Jesus said that the kingdom belongs to children such as this.

I believe also that Jesus loves the children and they all go to Heaven. I am sorry you have hurt over this. Such an aweful thing to go through. Also, if he was Mormon (I use to be Mormon)... He was likely sealed to his family. They do that in that church. So, I'm sure his family believes that he is in the Celestial Glory with the rest of their family. In their denomination, they continue families in Heaven. Have they expressed any of this to you??? In any denomination, Jesus loves the children. I hope this helps you some.

Your story was very sad.
I am not completely sure if i am right about this but is not everyone born a sinner??Yes, everyone is born a sinner.
See he never really had much of a chance of getting close to god and he died at such a young age does this mean he is condem to hell??He will be judged by God as far as his understanding of God and right and wrong was developed.
Luk 12:47, 48 - "And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required..."
Peace to you.

Hi Maffers. As a general rule, it's good to not speculate on the condemnation of people who are already dead. I'm sure that those who knew the unnamed thief on the cross beside Jesus thought that he would die condemned in his sins too.
Now as to the issue of children in general. I do not believe in the doctrine of the "age of accountability." It is neither explicitly stated in Scripture nor implied anywhere. My guess is that the doctrine was invented by evangelical Christians who were indoctrinated into the American cultural idea that children are innocent, and who didn't want to feel bad about children who died in their youth. Yet children are not innocent. As can be seen just by observing them on the schoolyard: from the moment they can talk, children are minature sinners. America also has the proverb, "children can be so cruel," and this testimony is true; I wonder why it doesn't inform more evangelical theologians.
So far, the most I can tell from Scripture is that we simply don't know what happens to children who die. And it's best not to speculate on issues where God has given us no teaching. We should, in my opinion, simply rest in the assurance that God is merciful through Christ Jesus.

I agree.
I can only add that God did not leave us in our sin, in fact while we were YET SINNERS, Christ died for us.
Read all of Romans 5.
God is not limited by the speed at which lifes circumstances come at us. I believe God can save a man in the middle of a lighting stroke.
He is after all, God.

agree with both posters -
I do find great comfort in knowing that God is sovereign and that He has a plan far greater than anything we can imagine. As far as children are concerned - God shows mercy on whom He shows mercy - that most certainly includes children.
As an aside - I'm a pediatric nurse (for 30 years now) and have worked with families who have lost children to death. If it weren't for my faith I'd have quit a long, long time ago.

i'm so so sorry that had to happen.
i believe that all children go to heaven because they have not yet matured. i'll tell you what i told my best friend who lost her 1 month old son. in a way i'm thankful that he was blessed not haveing to grow up and he never had the chance to grow up and be judged by God for his sins.
not sure if that made any sense.... i wasn't sure how to say it
