Here's a product I saw advertised that I don't quite get the point
of. The most difficult part of brachahs isn't learning to say them,
it's the halahcos of which to say. This isn't going to
be much good on shabbas or yom tov either......:)

Although I must admit, it's kind of cute looking....

Cute, yes - in fact it reminds me of the recording key chains so that you don't forget what aisle you parked your car in! LOL.

But isn't it better to learn the blessings?

Hey, I could use one of those! Twice in the last couple of weeks
I have parked my car in the massive Wal-Mart parking lot, and
spent 10 minutes wandering out looking like a fool, searching
for it. I had just about came to the conclusion that it had been
stolen, when I found it...

But isn't it better to learn the blessings?

The blessings are very, very easy to learn....but learning
the order of them, which foods need what (it's not as straight
forward as it seems), and the various other halachos is the
difficult part. This key chain doesn't help with that.....

no it doesn't and I easily see folks just letting the keychain "say" the belssings rather than repeating them themselves :(

Good point.....I hadn't thought of that....

Chava if it makes you feel any better - lots of folks report their cars as stolen when they just forgot where they parked them. When I worked for the Oregon State Police up in Portland, one of the troopers I worked with used to go over to Clackamas Town Center during slow times on graveyard and run every vehicle that was still in the parking lot. Usually would get one or two "stolen" cars out of there every week, and a lot more during the holidays.

I knew my car wasn't stolen...nobody would want to steal that junky looking piece of metal anyway (we live on a dirt road and I never wash it, and I'm not all that good about keeping the inside of it clean, either) but still there is that little bit of panic and rationalization that sets in when you can't find it and you conclude it must be stolen, LOL.
I was going to start walking around the aisles clicking the panic
button on the keyless entry until I set off the car alarm, as a way to locate
it. That would have been embarrassing, and fortunately it
didn't come to that...

Although I must admit, it's kind of cute looking.... Strange, is this for children learning or really for adults? Even my gentile husband knows these if nothing else. :D

They did stipulate this though:

Use it every day of the week (except on Shabbat and Jewish holidays).
With the 'extras' it made me think of someone that would need this, waking up in the morning and searching around for his keychain to say Modeh ani, Oy!

Well, anything for a buck nowadays. :(
I can see this as the next thing on certain someones 'Jewish paraphernalia wish list' :sigh:
