hello, i was watching this mans television show on sunday morning out of curiousity, and I have a problem with how he spreads the word of the end of the world, not how he does it, but how he comes to his conclusions, and uses tv to spread his messages.
I was really wondering what you all think, I have already mailed him through his website, I would really appreciate all input or insight you may have, his website is.

although I dont believe im supposed to post here, I just wanted to make the comment,

I dont believe this is the first time he has preached the end of the world, in the 70's they were preaching that the end would come "soon" and now they often deny that they did.

yah, i just find it odd, he can't just make these assumptions for himself, and abuse his position just because he is on tv, it just doesnt seem right.

i mean the end of the world could happen any second, who is he to decide when it will be

People such as Jack Van Impe, Hal Lindsey, and other such radical sensationalists have made predictions of events and dates that were shown to be false. A few thousand years ago they would have been stoned for that. I completely dismiss anything they have to say and I will continue to do so until they repent of that which they deny they do.

Well, I don't particularly follow Jack Van Impe, but those that say he is predicting the end of the world are in error. He believes the world is without end as the bible says. He does believe that we are near the end of the age, as does Hal Lindsey. Hal Lindsey has never predicted the exact time of the end of the age, just says he thinks we are close.

If you read 1TH 5:4 you will see that the Christians are NOT in darkness and so the coming of the end of the age will NOT surprise us. We don't know the exact day of course, but we certainly know the general time frame.

Nate the end of the age could begin to happen any second as you say but as you see we are not in the dark as to the general time frame and this is all Jack Van Impe and Hal Lindsey are trying to make us aware of...which they certainly have a right to do.

We are told in LK 21:34 that we are to watch, and pray that we may be able to escape all that is about to happen indicating that we will certainly know in advance that things are about to happen. I'm not sure why people that are trying to make other people aware of such things would be so disturbing to you. :)

Bible verses mentioned above!
1TH 5:1 Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

1TH 5:4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

LK 21:34 "Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. 35 For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. 36 Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man."

I don't know much about Van Impe- but I do know he has taken part in distributing anti-Catholic tracts of the Jack Chick genre- which doesn't exactly speak of his integrity and commitment to the commandment not to bear false witness.

i don't know that what he says about the apocalypse has much merit. People have been making predictions since forever, and people just get worked up and some take it bad some take it in good ways, but this man has the oppertunity to speak to millions, and he blatantly said this morning that it was coming, and it WAS coming for our generation, and i feel that it is irresponsible, mainly because of the position he is in.
