IMHO...things of this nature is a result of teaching our children all we are is the result of some cosmic accident, there is no God or there are multiple gods to choose from.
Mass media continues to promote notoriety and fame as the best and quickest way to make your mark on the world....Doesn't everyone want a Lifetime Movie....Made For Television... based on them?
Promoting the idea that the entire reason for such acts of violence is our constitutional right to bear arms is certainly more palatable...
....than considering anything as preposterous as systematically removing God...the One True God... from our society...could be a HUGE factor in contributing to escalating violence and moral decay...

Might I also add...while I have my soapbox out...this is also very indicative of the lack of a strong family unit and...proper discipline....
If children are not raised to respect their parents...how could we possibly expect them to respect anyone else...

Amen sister!
You take a weak family who's bought into the worlds religion and has little morals, due to a lack of Jesus Christ in their lives, then send those kids to public school where they are taught how to be malleable workers and dedicated buyers and you've got a mess.
These kids are told that this is all there is, get it while you can because when it's over it's over. The only thing that matters if fame, fortune and material goods, so feeling good for the moment is all they think they've got or are ever gonna have that matters. They're only remnant will be the name they make for themselves if even that.
I think the soul cries out for more. We've got that empty place inside us that only Jesus Christ can fill, since these kids are told that Jesus/God doesn't exists their angry because nothing they can find in this world fills that void where Christ belongs.
The longer they try to fill the void and fail the bigger the void feels and the angrier &/or more depressed they get. I wonder if spiritually they don't realize they've been lied to and are angry on some spiritual level about that too.
I truly believe that nothing more than Jesus in the young mans heart could have saved every person involved.

You do realize you are in a "Christian" forum?
Is there some point to you attacking someone else's faith?
I don't consider your post healthy debate, just personal attacks.
If you talk with some of the pastors who've made a point to go visit kids in jail who've commited crimes like this the one common denominator is "no Christ" in the home or in their lives. They are almost always atheist and creationists, even satanist.
Guns being legal had nothing to do with the emptiness that existed in this young mans heart and soul.

This is so far off base it shows everyone here that you really don't have any idea of what a "Christian" really is. Therefore I'm not sure how to even debate this with you because you are lacking the most basic understanding of what it means to be a "Christian".
For your own sake you might want to do a little more research on what exactly a Christian is.
There are more than a few pastors that visit kids in jail who've commited crimes like this and the one common denominator they have is that they are not Christians. They are most often atheist, creationist and even satanists.
I don't know where you get your dis-information, but why are you here? This is a Christian forum for believers. You obviously don't believe and don't have any "questions" about our faith so your not a seeker. Your just trying to be insulting to what point? What is it you are seeking here?

I heard a little bit about this last night on the news before i snoozed off. He was believed from what the reporters had gathered in a short time, to have been suffering from depression.
There's many reasons that could have led to this behavior, losing a girlfriend, drugs there is just no telling on what all could have triggered his rampage.
It is true that a true love towards our father in heaven will prevent these kinds of behaviors from surfacing.

Is this thread open to debate from Non-ND's? I was under the impression that the thread had to be considered "open" for this type of debate to go on.
How do we know what is an "open" or "closed" thread?
* I apologize, Cris413. I don't want to take your thread off track, but I'm confused as to the debate rules.

Actually more people diluting our religion and moral tteachings, removing God from schools and government, all in the name of equality. When people came to this country they knew its values and beliefs yet they come anyway for what is offered here, change it or try to what they came from, and then wonder what happened and why we are not so great any more and why so much confusion.

Actually you can meet many of them in church. Religion is much different from Christianity. The world reflects the state of church, confused, lost, and not knowing what direction to go in. Mans knowledge has led us to where we are so I ask is it mans knowledge that will save us or is it Gods?

Anyone know of psychotropic drugs were involved? I'm not sure if the media mentions the connection any more because the drug companies are so powerful. However, every time I hear a young person and depression mentioned in the same sentence I cringe.

There is no [open] tag in the title, hence this is not an open thread. Even if it were, only non-member Christians can participate in debates. Non-Christians are limited to fellowship ALWAYS. (Also, in case you hadn't seen it yet, both his posts have been reported, so staff is working on it. You have to be patient, though. In non-emergencies, we are instructed to get a "consensus" among mods before acting.)

Thanks, HypnoToad. Being new to this board I'm still trying to find my away around here. I appreciate you clarifying things for me.

Hi Hypnotoad...it would be helpful to update the List for now until a definitive decision is made...I opened the thread...not completely understanding who was participating...thinking perhaps virtualgirl was restricted from posting...as she is new to the forum...
I've since closed it to those not ND...and we would not want to exclude our sister vg from participating...(or myself for that matter)

Honestly? no! :help:
Not unless it's only going to highlight my most golden moments (which are so few, it might have to be a 10 minute long movie).
:tutu: :sigh:
I think we should also look at this killer's letter... what was his focus? TO BE POPULAR.
This seems to be the need today in youth. Being known for something...
You have Utube people getting popular, normal people on reality show competitios, etc. It seems there's some starvation going on for notariety.
That ties in with other stuff I've seen like teens running to get plastic surgery in droves... these kids are starving for attention or something.

I'm only going to address 2 of your statements...as your lack of respect for my beliefs is obvious. (Note...I did not post this in the Atheist Forum...but had I...I would have been respectful to your views)
My God (imaginary friend as you call Him) is very real kind sir.
I would post the Scripture that testifies God is evident in ALL things...so that men are without excuse to deny Him...
But I won't...what I will tell you is the whether you believe in God or not...He KNOWS you. Everything about you...
Though you deny Him...He still loves you...and wants a relationship with you...you and your well behaved children...
My husband is Canadian...and he says...30 years ago...your statement would not be true...so apparently...Canada is sinking into the muck even much more quickly than we are...
Take care now..ehh ;)

Please stop claiming more religion will solve anything. It won't
I just took this little snippet to address.
No Christian is claiming that MORE Religion will solve anything... we're saying if people would just obey the commands of God that already exist (yep, that includes Christians and self proclaiming Christians), most of the trouble we know today wouldn't be prevalent.

The3 second church attacked the gunman was killed by security. To me this shows the need for guns and protection as many more would have been killed if this church had not had this.

nice point Bill. When I heard on tv this am. that it was a female guard at the church - I was shocked they had guns more than anything. (not disagreement with it, just surprised).
What's SAD to me is to see churches having to resort to ARMED GUARDS on the church grounds. What's next, foxholes, barbed wire & national guard? :help:
Dear God, help this nation.
(I'll have to rep you & Cris in an hour becuz my site support expired this am. & I'm out)

Absolutely God is in Control...
I would just like to add:
Luk 12:35 "Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning;
Luk 12:36 and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately.
Luk 12:37 Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.
Luk 12:38 And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
Luk 12:39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and[4] not allowed his house to be broken into.
Luk 12:40 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."
Luk 12:41 Then Peter said to Him, "Lord, do You speak this parable only to us, or to all people?"
Luk 12:42 And the Lord said, "Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season?
Luk 12:43 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.
Luk 12:44 Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has.
Luk 12:45 But if that servant says in his heart, "My master is delaying his coming,' and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk,
Luk 12:46 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
Luk 12:47 And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
Luk 12:48 But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.
