From out of the ashes he rises, sword in his right hand, shield in his left. He defines what it means to be struck down but not destroyed.

"Die! Just DIE already!" his hateful foe hisses from behind a forked tongue.

A thick haze lies over the battleground. The sky is shaded in hues of red. The failing light covers everything in shadow, but the warrior's eyes burn bright, lit by a holy flame.

His heart burns within him. There are souls here, souls that need rescuing, and that is the warrior's purpose. He's been called by the King, if he does not go, who will?

"Help me!" A scream pierces through the darkness. The warrior turns his head and darts in the direction of the quavering voice.

Tears stain the young girl's face. A dark figure towers over her chained body.

The figure raises its head and fixes its eyes on the warrior. "You're weak Christian… it won't be long before you too are under my bondage again…"

Memories cloud the warrior's mind, memories of the chains that once held him down. In that instant fear casts it's cold and familiar shadow across his heart. The enemy senses this terror and bears down on the warrior with a sudden and intense ferocity.

The warrior finds himself pinned under the clawed foot of his enemy, starring up at the sky. A barrage of insults flies from the enemy's mouth, like flaming arrows they pierce at the warrior's soul.

A break in the clouds appears above, a shaft of light rains down, and the warrior remembers where his strength lies.

"Liar!" screams the warrior, his intensity revived within him. With his shield he strikes at the muscled leg that bears down on him. His enemy stumbles backwards. The warrior leaps to his feet and with a fluid motion brings his sword down through the blackened heart of his enemy. The sword erupts in a blaze of bright light and the dark figure is consumed.

The trapped soul, the girl in the chains, cries out. "Jesus, save me!" Immediately her chains rip from the shaking ground. She rises from black filth that she has lain in for so long.

Another soul has come to fight. The King is building an army, an army of warriors who burn for others and burn for Him… Soon a mighty Battle Cry will rise. From every direction they will come… Will you join the fight? Does the flame resonate within you?

What a picture, Jacob! Awesome (hope you realize what a step out of character it is for a 55-yr-old military "lifer" to use that word!) and I enjoyed reading your profile too. You've got a powerful ministry, Bro. Keep fighting the good fight.

That was truly awesome. Sometimes it seems like people forget that it's a fight, a war, not just a passive existance. "I have not come to bring peace, but a sword."-Matthew 10:24 Keep on with the good work. God bless.

ProfessorJ that is true. Just because we're on top does not mean we no longer have to exert our values. God did not make us to be observers, but doers.
