View Full Version : I am Newly Chrismated

Dear all.

I am finally complete on my journey toward the Church for today I was received as a communicant in Shrewsbury.

It wasn't an easy day.
My sponsor (and 3 guests) were unable to make it as his car broke down due to a heavily flooded road and thus I had to quickly find another sponsor.

But anyway, complications aside.
I am now 'newly illumined' into the Orthodox faith.

This is after a nearly 3 year struggle, and it sure did feel strange partaking of the mysteries as I am so used to just watching others go.
How do I feel? Is something people have asked me.
Physically? I feel perfectly the same, neither 'happier' nor 'sadder', but spiritually, I feel settled, almost as though my time waiting at the station has progressed to that great train to Theosis.

I stayed at Fr. Stephen's house last night in order not to miss my own Chrismation and so that my friends in Lampeter could have 2 more hours in bed (otherwise I would have had to arrive before 9am to get confession...much to the inconvenience of Fr. Stephen who was going to serve at the newly established Telford church.)

Anyhow, I know not what I am to expect apart from sheer daemonic torment, however, now armed with confession and the wisdom of my confessor Fr. Stephen, I feel ready to brush them aside in the most practical of fashions.

Your newly illumined brother in Christ.

Christopher

Congratulations!!! Many Years!!!

Just watch out for a desire to experience (generate) feelings now, and don't feel overconfident about attacks from the Enemy.

I thank you all for your replies and ask you earnestly to pray for me as I face subtle, but impaling blows to my spiritual life.

And so the battle truly begins.
