No, it's not because of theology, or politics, or disputes, or baklava, or the need to find myself. My poor computer can't handle whatever new thing they did to the site. I think someone suggested it's the new adds. I've given it a few days and it still takes forever to load. It literally took 10 minutes to get to this page so I could post this.
Anyhoo, happy Nativity season to you all!! If they ever go back to the old form without the big adds or something easier for my computer to handle, someone send me a message!

If you are using Firefox install the Adblock plugin and you will be fine. If not, perhaps it's time to do the switch. Are you using Internet Explorer?

Baklava is a reason to leave? ;) Zhilan, I publicly ask you to forgive me for our exchanges about Islam. Life is short and I won't be sticking around much longer either. I wish you the best and I hope you could find in your heart to forgive me for my transgressions towards you. 再见 美手语秀

Yes - do try the Firefox and Ad Block Plus...and if you do - try to get one of the filter subscriptions. It makes a world of a difference :)

I may do the Firefox thing too, with the ad block, because I don't want to see what others say are coming up for them.
So far, it's just Christian jewelry, which is easier to handle. :o

Yeah - for awhile it was just that for me...recently, I came up with a bunch of.....other things....which I just don't care to see. I had Ad Block Plus for Firefox on my laptop - but I've been using my family's PC recently, and...it didn't have it there. So - I decided to go ahead and install it here, and I'm very glad I did :)

I don't know much about Linux, but I think that not. Check this link: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html.
I believe you can find all necessary information on this site.

Thanks for the recommendation on Adblock. It's made this site SO much faster...it was like molasses for ages.

Thanks for the help. If someone knows how to get the adblocker can you PM me? I can't figure out how to get it.
And BM, don't worry about it, it's all cool. God bless.
I tried the PDA version and it didn't help. So I think it must be the ads....

Here is the link to Ad Block Plus:

Here is the Filter Set that blocks almost everything (ugly) out there!

Hope this helps someone. :)

I PM'd this to HisKid but figure others may benefit from this as well
If you want to block the ads on websites, find out the domain name of the offending ad servers and then simply add them to the bottom of the file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" as shown below (localhost should already be there).
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 tag.contextweb.com
127.0.0.1 ads.vnet.valueclick.net
when you save the file, make sure it doesn't rename it to "hosts.txt". The file must be simply "hosts" without any extension. The change will be effective immediately, no restart necessary.
What this does is override the IP address given by DNS for the above sites, pointing them instead to your computer. Since your computer is not operating as a Web server it tells your browser to sod off and nothing gets displayed for the ads. As you come across more ad sites in other web pages, you can simply add them to the bottom of the "hosts" file too. I actually had to look through the page source view of the web page to find the above sites, but all I had to do was search for the text "All times are GMT" and the ad code was found just below. Since your browser is no longer forced to wait for the ad servers, the web pages load much faster.
Nothing to install, simply edit a single file. You can also use this to block access to specific web sites that other members of your family may have been viewing on the sly. It is such a basic technique that most people overlook it, instead looking for the software you 'must have installed' to accomplish this feat ;)
Enjoy!

I use Firefox and adblock plus as well. In fact I have blocked almost all the images here, and in my preferences I have the signatures, and avatars and icons, and all that stuff turned off. No pets, not characters, and i even put the headers in my adblock so now all I see at the top are the images i use, like control panel and blogs.
I think if you try these options you will see a huge difference in load times.
