"At this moment in the Church's history, the Charismatic Renewal can play a significant role in promoting the much-needed defense of Christian life in societies where secularism and materialism have weakened many people's ability to respond to the Spirit and to discern God's loving call. Your contribution to the re-evangelization of society will be made in the first place by personal witness to the indwelling Spirit and by showing forth His presence through works of holiness and solidarity." - Pope John Paul II
The CF Charismatic Catholic Renewal Guidelines
This is a Catholic forum for those in union with the Bishop of Rome, his Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. We welcome our Christian brothers and sisters of all faith communities as long as they are respectful of our faith and beliefs.

Hey Jeff, right on for the links, those are some of the most useful sites on the Renewal. Except for one! The Charismatic Church of Canada is not united with the Holy Father and is not actually in full union with the Catholic Church. I am sure that they are good folks, but I am sure that we don't want to disturb any catholics here.
Jeff you are gonna be learning with us too! hehe ;-)
God bless us and strenghten us in His love,

Hello Jeffrey Lloyd. This looks like a good place for me to be. I am here to learn, and to share. I will probably be hanging out in the background at times, and posting when the Holy Spirit moves me to. I am very new to forums, and just learning the ins and outs. May there be many people blessed by your forum. Peace and Blessings.

Congratulations on your new forum! I shall pop in from time to time and see what's occurring!
And did you know we got a permanent redirect in SF to here for you? So you're extra special as no other forum in the Congregational area has that distinction!

Flaglady, I love you! You are my Hero. You are the Wind Beneath My Wings.
And I am sure the Lord will agree with me. You have kissed the face of God and He has embraced you and told you that YOU ARE HIS.
I saw that in a dream.

I was told by a blessed and wise friend that being charismatic is a gift itself. As I look back on my life, I don’t remember not being charismatic. When I was younger I knew it was a special gift from God, but didn’t understand it fully. As an older teenager and young adult, I fell away from the church, and took up the ways of the world. Then in the mist of turmoil, and satanic attacks all of heaven and the Holy Spirit protected me and pulled me back to the church. After a “Life in the Spirit” seminar and a trip to Medugorje, it appears to me the gifts from the Holy Spirit are amplified. I feel as though I can hear with a clearer ear too. Anyone want to comment? Just thought I would dip my toe into this thread and start some conversation.
Can we talk about the gifts of the Holy Spirit one by one? Word of Wisdom; Word of Knowledge; Faith; Prophecy; Discernment of Spirits; Tongues (Acts 2:4); Interpretation; Healing; Miracles. (see 1 Cor. 12, 13-14 & 1 Cor. 14:1)
“Vatican II said this about the charisms: "It is not only through the sacraments and Church ministries that the Holy Spirit sanctifies and leads the people of God. He distributes special graces among the faithful of every rank. 'The manifestation of the Spirit is given to everyone for profit' (1Cor.12:7). These charismatic gifts, whether they be the most outstanding or the more simple and widely diffused, are to be received with thanksgiving and consolation, for they are exceedingly suitable and useful for the needs of the Church." I found this on the web site listed below. Just wanted to share it.

I think that is a great idea Isa,
We should have a nice discussion on each of the gifts, one by one. I was wondering if you would be willing to start a new thread on one of the gifts, and also maybe start us off with a discussion question or two. Thank you for being a light of Christ my dear sister.
God blesses you with His love

Ok, my friend lets give this a try. I would first like to start out with a prayer.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the precious Holy Spirit, Amen. Eternal Father we come before you, praising your Holy name, and thanking you for the gift of your only son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Father, please bless this time we share together. We ask you to send your Holy Spirit that He may descend upon each one that participates and reads this thread. May their eyes, ears and heart be open to receive the special gift and blessings you have just for them. Give us the graces to learn and live your virtues, so that we might be the light that shines in such a dark world, to help those that have lost their way. May we guide them back to you Father, through your son Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We rebuke the spirits of darkness, and send them to the foot of the cross, where they may be disposed of, for only light can shine into darkness. This we pray, in Jesus name, covered and sealed in his blood. Amen
Fear of the Lord is one of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit as described in Isaiah 11:2-3
The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: a spirit of wisdom and of understanding. A spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge and of frar of the Lord, and his delight shall be the fear of the Lord.
Fear of the Lord establishes the proper relationship between Creator and creature and to moderate the disordered impulses of our concupiscence.
The gift of fear is called filial. It consists in the repuganance that the soul feels at the thought of being separated from God. This fear comes from love. Whosoever desires, whosoever loves, experiences a profound fear of being separated from the loved one, of displeasing him. Love cannot be conceived of without fear. One who loves deeply has a fear that is above all other fears, fear of separation from the beloved. This gift of fear which is directed by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God unites us to Himself in such a way that He infused in us instinctive, profound, efficacious horror of being separated from God, which makes us say: Everything, except to be parted from Him; everything, except to lose our close union with the Beloved! It is a filial fear, a noble fear, born from the very heart of love. Perfect, loving, filial fear is the gift of fear of God. (Taken from the book: “The Sanctifier” by; Most Rev. Luis M. Martinez)
The gift of fear of the Lord corresponds to the virtue of hope.
The gift of fear of the Lord confirms in those who have it the virtue of hope and infuses profound respect for God’s glory and selfless love for God. It protects from sin through dread of offending God.
Our desire for the kingdom of heaven, and our trust in Christ’s promises. Heb 10:23 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Hope resides in the will; it keeps us from discouragement, sustains us during desolation, and opens our hearts to eternal beatitude. God’s almighty power, infinite goodness, and fidelity to His promises are the pillars of our hope that we will receive the grace necessary to reach heaven.
Possible questions for discussion: 1. How can there be a gift of fear? 2. Is not charity at the root of all gifts? 3. Do not the scriptures say that perfect love excludes fear? 4. How is it possible, then, that fear of God can come from profound divine root of charity?
Blessings and Peace

Hey Isa,
I hope that you don't mind that I moved your post to the main area in the forum so that everyone could see it and post. I thought it would be better with a thread of its own, it is a great topic! And more people will be blessed.
with peace in Jesus the Lord,

Isn't time a funny thing? The charismatic Forum has only been here for three weeks and it seems like ages.
How mysterious are God's ways. Time is something cool!
And may God bless us all, in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

You are so right. My thoughts exactly. What is even better, it appears to me that these friendships that are being built in the Lord, have been with me for a long time, even though they have not been? Yet they are such spirit filled relationships with love and respect. Puzzling. Funny how our good Father God works with us through His Holy Spirit.
