Puttin the fact that its a really stupid ad on the back burner for the moment................... I'd like someone to frackin tell me WHY as a site supporter I am bein forced to view ads on my CP in the first frackin place!

I have complained bout this after Erwin 86'd this place wit the whole 'social networkin' crap, I NEVER chose to support such crap! But even puttin that on the side for the moment... the sposed 'benifits' of bein a site supporter is that I don't havta look at such filth in the first place. So whose bright idea is it to hide all the ads on all the pages EXCEPT my CP???

Then folks wonder why I actually think this site is a literal pile of doggy doo doo........


Posting in Addicted2Jesus' article here to note an update which occurred, that Lee has had all ads removed for site supporters, apparently was a bug perhaps... may need to check profile, as hear there are two places need to check/uncheck to stop ads as well.. - tapero



Please note that SS ads were never meant to have ads, it was a permissions error which is now fixed.

This is a bug :) The techs are aware of it and should be fixing it soon. Site supporters should not be seeing ads.

As to complaints forums being hidden I dont' like it either, but well is how it is.

however, it is a way for people to convey things they can not publicly say without being ridiculed, called names etc, and often times some are fearful of mods, perhaps with good reason, so is at least a place they can post something there.

yeah, i've got them in my inbox or profile area, i think is only place, other staff say has some in other areas and animated ones, which I dont have any animated ones, so either there is a randomizer as to placement of ads then for ss'ers or is a bug.

i can't handle animated ads as boggles me too much, and surely does same to others who can not handle chemically i mean such, so i hope i never do get em, is hard enough with animated smiley's to my right, but somehow i've gotten used to it.

and with erwin the banner (you know the top 6 inches or forum) had flashing stuff like lights flashing, and is dangerous to epileptics and when brought to erwins attention never put another as is doc and said, ah, yes i forgot, so flashing lites also boggles

as we've no control and just users of this site, is nothing we can do, take it day to day, see how it goes.

if you ever see any ads that are inappropriate, grab the url and send it to Leed or letalis or geo or me or any mod you know will do something, and Lee said he'll get rid of it.

I heard their is one gay christian dating one, lee said grab url and he'll toss it.

I am certain any such can be blocked ahead of time (with key word blocks), easily and rarely something slip thru, and why that's not occurred I don't know, is more than likely is just the same vendors he uses and either has has no complaint or i dont know what.

as he has if accurate some 50 active sites, then you can imagine he of course is not aware of what's popping up unless someone doesn't like it and writes him, and depending on if such matters on that site i imagine is whether he'll do something or not, but apparently here he will.

with erwin, we would get abortion ads, and other ads as well, but now that there are more ads of differnt vendors i take it, key words make that topic ad pop up, ugh. But erwin would write google and say no abortion ads and that stopped them.

but with these being different ad sources, don't know how or if contractually lee can say, none of this that etc, i pray if becomes big problem, will change to vendors can do so with. as really the ads are like an employee and not an employer, so it's lees call all the way.

but still certain key words will trigger ads, anyway no matter what, tho like i said, am sure can be fairly much controlled via contract, ahead of time, or adding key word blocks, etc.

Yeah, that's what Addicted2Jesus said. I dont' know if he saw that in announcments or in site supporter - where you click on to be one and it shows the benefits.

Well the ad's disappeared... but what I found really interestin was that when I went a bit ago to git the snippet of what I had seen the other day under the support button, it has conviently been changed.... so it now says users can choose to enable er disable text ads. Hmmmmm... I wonder why that all of a sudden changed as well... certainly, from my codin expereince, I have never seen a bug that would have automatically changed the text in support at the same time this 'other' bug was fixed.......

I only know of Lindon Tinuviel who was threatened. Of course some members are secretly banned and the PTB refuse to reveal for what reason.

The browser Opera can also block undesired content. Right-click on an empty part of a page and select 'Block content...'. You can then select images that you don't want to see anymore. In Tools --> Preferences --> Advanced –-> Content --> Blocked content... you can see what links are blocked and add text ads to the list as well.

I think anyone with rank administrator and higher can see and post in that forum.

Also if you are a mac user with safari browser SafariBlocker (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/19202) with remove those ads too...guess it won't be long before someone comes up with an anti-adblocker ;)

Update: Not banned, secretly or otherwise. I just decided not to buy the place, after all. At least, not in the foreseeable future. I don't think that the problems here *can* be fixed.

Incorrect. It was a bug. All sites have bugs. Big sites have a lot of bugs. You are not going to have minimal ads, I haven't seen one ad.
