I would say that I primarily use the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB).

I prefer, and use the most often, the NKJV. However, I also have the NET Bible on my computer, as well as the e-sword program which has the NIV, the KJV, the ESV, the NASB, and the HCSB translations in that program. ALL of those versions are excellent, but the version I prefer the most is the New King James Version.

I use the Authorized version only, though I have used other vesions in the past. I don't believe the KJV was inspired or is the only Bible to use, but to me it is the best English Bible available. I love it's majestic tone and poetic language which is lost in modern translations.

NKJV, though I have and sometimes look up confusing passages in other translations, and also I'm using the Comfort-able KJV or The Evidence Bible from Way of the Master it's an update of the spelling of words while staying true to the KJV.... I also have a regular KJV, a 1611 KJV, NIV, NICV(New International Children's Version), ESV, ASB, LBLA, LXX, and others in E-Sword and in Print.....
Primary Usage: NKJV and KJV also most preachers I sit under have used the RSV.... so though hearing I've used that version....
ESV would be third, HCSB fourth.... NIV is way down on the list... the others are somewhere between fourth and NIV..... usually unless it's a heretical bible like the JST or other cult bible I have for reference only.... or a bible in a foreign language I use when posting in an international setting....

HCSB is my favorite, but I also commonly use ESV, NKJV, NIV, TNIV and NLT. KJV is the one is I use the least, rarely at all, because I don't care for the Elizabethan English.

I switch between the NASB and NIV, but I voted NIV because that is typically where I start. If I have a lexical question, I go back to the NASB, and, if I need more info, the Greek versions.

I have about an even tie between the NASB and NET.
NASB is very close to the original translation. The NET has scholar notes, transator notes, commentary, and a host of other things that make it especially good for reference purposes.

I am currently reading through the entire Bible using the NLT. I just started doing it a few days ago. I'm not getting very far yet but I'm working on it a few chapters at a time. :)

kjv~not really on purpose, it's just the version my first bible is. It turns 20 years old this Christmas, has all my best notes, don't see giving it up anytime soon, though I'd better get some duct tape on it sometime ;)
Wifey uses amplified~I do like the nkjv, got a thompson chain-reference but it was so big I got tired of hauling it to church so it sits on the shelf as reference though I don't pick it up much~maybe I should pass it along...

The NKJV is based on the textus receptus with variants in the margin from earlier manuscripts. The NKJV follows the KJV most of the time. The NASV is based on the critical text and the ASV (1901) edition. The NASV is more accurate than the NKJV. But both are good translations.

Have you formed an opinion on the HCSB-ASB yet? I picked one up in November, and so far am satisfied with it. Definitely beats the NIV, IMHO.

I have three bibles that I read from, and all of them are Holman Christian Standard. I like how it doesn't use all the old time-y words I have to look up the definitions to.

Laura bought me a beautiful NIV for Christmas.
That was already the translation I used the most anyway, butmit will be even more so now because this was the Bible she bought for me.

I use many different versions, though I tend to stay away from paraphrases, but the language of the KJV can't be beat. Many words, such as charity, have such a deeper meaning as they are used in the KJV that are missing from other more modern translations. I am the least fond of the NIV because it, IIRC, took the oldest text as its source instead of the majority text. I may be wrong on that though. Still, I find far too many places it falls short. I prefer Bibles without commentary in them. I have known more than a few who take the commentary as the word of God because it is written in their Bibles plus I would rather not have someone else influencing my initial thoughts concerning a text. I use commentaries on every text but only after I have considered the text without them. Of course after so many years of reading commentaries it is hard now to not be influenced by them when reading a text. I do try though.

This is an inaccurate statement.
AV readings are as old as the corrupted readings for the NIV,and older.
In fact, the AV readings out number the Alexandrian readings by two to one and on important doctrinal verses, the number is three to one.
NIV is owned by Rupert Murdock.[the Simpsons] hint hint.
I call it the Bart bible.
It also had a couple of gays on the staff.
To have the best Bible, one must go to the AV.
The King James Bibles as it is now known.
And in particular, the Pure Cambridge Edition CIRCA 1900.
