:confused: I have a question that been wanting to ask Neo cons, Neolibs, Rightwing libertarians and Objectivists that consider themselves morally conservative Christians.How does a morally conservative christian handle the obvious contradiction of being Free market liberal.
For example they would say they are against porn and all x rated stuff , fornication,sodomy etc yet the very fact they believe in free market which means in theory any good or service is available including moral filthy ones.This ofcause means they face a huge paradox in their faith.

So as i realise there are a few free market liberals in this section especially neo cons whom are strong free traders here as both seem to go hand in glove in the US i wanted to know how you explain this huge paradox in your moral values with your anything goes freemarket values.:scratch:

As I am most likely the very last conservative member here that you want to hear from, I will just get this over with as quickly as possible.

The paradox that you set up does not include realistic perimeters because you bring with it a narrow, artifciial concept.

If I understand your economic terms correctly, it does not follow that free trade should be allowed to include marketing anything that damages human beings.

That it is being done is not with any consent of Christian devout, on the contrary, all Christians abhor porn and consider it abomination. Unfortunately, there are more vocal support for "free" anything and everything by those who detest Christian morality.

You are waving around a red flag of nothing and barking up the wrong tree with it.

Its OK to be against thing X without being against the system within which it exists. Just because some people do morally reprehensible things in a free market society, does not mean that a free market society is inherantly bad. Some people do some awful things within a marraige, that doesn't make the institution of marraige bad.

It is one thing to debate and discuss.

But it is quite another to submit to rude, confrontational bullying under the guise of pointing out conclusions based on prejudice and hostility.

That you assume some kind of superiority over others means that you cannot read comments by others without assigning to them the worst of intentions, which are like your own.

Even in debate, a modicum of manners and consideration for those whom you invite into discussion will serve you far better than threats and detractions.

Free markets that hurt people are not OK. The porn industry, for example, destroys lives. It is that simple. :wave:

Its precisley that kind attitude makes your arguments paradoxical! I mean be honest if your going to claim to be pro free traders in economic matters at least like ayn rand admit to being moral liberals while your at it and stop hiding behind christianity cause you just dont cut it do you.:confused: :D
