Today is "Black Friday."
People going out to fight the crowds for those "early bird" specials.
People being rude.
Parking from hades.
Rainchecks for those things you couldn't get.
Grabbing for that one thing only to have it snatched away before you can grab it.
Yep!
Tis the season.
Regardless, my wish you you all:

I got out, met Glen Beck at a book signing, picked up a couple things~not really a bad day in Central PA...didn't think the crowds were bad~except the bajillion people in line at the book signin' ;)

Doesn't Christmas start in like . . . four weeks around the 20th December. Not in NOVEMBER!!!!
Tragic Paradox

I was forced to be in it, since I work in retail. People were in a surprisingly good mood though.
Personally, I'd rather pay a little more and not have to fight somebody for it.
Merry Christmas to all!

Happy holiday
(happy holiday)
Happy holiday
(happy holiday)
While the merry bells keep ringing
Happy holiday to you
(happy holiday)
(happy holiday)
It's the holiday season
And Santa Claus is coming 'round
The Christmas snow is white on the ground
When old Santa gets into town
He'll be coming up the chimney down
(he'll be coming up the chimney down)
It's the holidays season
And Santa Claus has got a toy
For every good girl and good little boy
Santa's a great big bundle of joy
When he's coming up the chimney down
(when he's coming up the chimney down)
He'll have a big fat pack, upon his back
And lots of goodies for you and for me
So leave a peppermint stick
For Old Saint Nick, hang it on a Christmas tree
It's the holiday season
(the holiday season)
So hoopdidoo and dickoreedock
And don't forget, to hang up your sock
Cause just exactly at twelve o'clock
He'll be coming up the chimney down
(he'll be coming up the chimney down)
He'll have a big fat pack, upon his back
(yeah!)
And lots of goodies for you and for me
So leave a peppermint stick
For Old Saint Nick, hang it on a Christmas tree
It's the holiday season
(the holiday season)
So hoopdidoo and dickoreedock
And don't forget, to hang up your sock
'Cause just exactly at twelve o'clock
He'll be coming up the chimney, coming up the chimney, coming up the chimney down
(Happy holiday)
Happy holiday
(Happy holiday)
Happy holiday
While the merry bells keep ringing
Happy holiday to you!

From Nat king Cole
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping at your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.
Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright,
Tiny tots with their eyes all a-glow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.
They know that Santa's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh,
And ev'ry mother's child is gonna spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.
And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although it's been said
Many times, Many ways
Merry Christmas to you.
And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although it's been said
Many times, Many ways
Merry Christmas to you.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope your Black Friday shopping went well if you went shopping. I didn't go shopping cause I didn't want to fight the crowds but I was tempted to go.

I either heard or read somewhere that the retailers make 2/3 of their profit for the whole year in the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas. No wonder they keep trying to extend the holidays!

For you guys serving in the military:
The original version was written by Lance Corporal James M. Schmidt in 1987 under the title "Merry Christmas, My Friend."
The audio recording of this adapted version was recorded by Father Ted Berndt and his daughter Ellen Stout. Father Berndt was a priest at Bread of Life Charismatic Episcopal Church in Dousman, Wisconsin, a proud Marine, and a WWII Purple Heart recipient.
The poem was recorded in one take. The recording received a national A.I.R. (Achievement in Radio) award from the March of Dimes and continues to be played in radio stations across the country.
Father Berndt passed away March 19th, 2004 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. According to his daughter, "All he ever wanted to do was touch lives...to make a difference. We are blessed to share "A Soldier's Silent Night" again with you this Christmas."
A Soldier's Silent Night
TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE.
I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.
I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE.
NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.
WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBER THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND.
FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT, IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.
THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.
THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.
WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED?
I REALIZED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.
SOON ROUND THE WORLD, THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.
THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.
I COULDN'T HELP WONDER HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.
THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY;
THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
"SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;
I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."
THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
I COULDN'T CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP.
I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS, SO SILENT AND STILL
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.
I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR SO WILLING TO FIGHT.
THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA, IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."
ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH, AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

DeaconDean;
Thank you very much for sharing all of these Christmas music videos. I love 'em. Also, the poem "A Soldier's Silent Night" is very true and touching to me, since as a soldier in the 29th Signal Battalion, I have been deployed twice in Iraq during the Christmas holidays. I've heard that you are an ex-marine, so I say to you, my brother, Thank you for your service in the military.

Well, it is 12/20/07. I am going to be away on my Christmas "vacation." Work has a rule that I can only carry a set number of vacation days over from year to year. I am therefore using three days worth of vacation so they won't get them. I ain't givin' 'em nothing. Hehe.
Anywho, I will be away until 12/29/07.
I just wanted to take this time to say Merry Christmas to all my Baptist brethren and Sisters. I hope you have a Blessed Holiday Season.
I'll see you all, when I return.
Merry Christmas, and:
