Why is this called an old believer cross? Do only old believers wear crosses that look like these or something?

I think it's just that it's a style of cross that was popular amongst the Old Believers. There's nothing wrong with it or anything. In fact if you look at a Russian Soldier's Cross you'll see that it's nigh on identical to the main body of the cross you've posted, just without the ornamentation on the outside edge.

That's what had me confused. I didn't know if this particular style with all the ornamentation was a symbol of the old believers or something weird like that...
