I can go ahead and let Letalis know now if it's cool with everyone. But I think it's good to get the reactions of people who call this place home first. :)

It'd be nice if someone more savvy than I could come up with something like this for a forum logo. :)

Perhaps liberals and conservatives. Or between different denominations. I guess between all divisions in the Body of Christ. At least that's my take, I could be wrong, I didn't come up with the name. :)

Well, I don't care, but it seems that if we take on a name, then, we should at least all agree what it means.

All of those work for me. Building bridges between all of them is a Good Thing. :holy:

Building bridges between believers of all stripes. Through communication without rancor. Putting to rest the villianization & rumors of one another & the churches we worship in. Recognizing Jesus Christ as our common foundation of belief & working together as one Body as He intended. This can be done by recognizing Jesus Christ as our Savior & working & communicating with each other while respecting that fact.

My take.

I'm a little curious when it will be changed. Not to be impatient, just wondering. Is it taking time for staff process or something?

Good responses!

I don't think we need to write what 'Bridge Builders' means in concrete. We're Moderates!

Bridge Builders won the vote. That's over.

Avatar's general idea for an icon seems a good one to me, too.

IOW, we don't have to spell the same message out for everyone in both words and images. What "bridge building" means is not lost on people such that we have to hit them over the head with a picture in addition to the name. Coming together in Christ as Avatar's pic suggests does it really well, doesn't it? We're bridge builders here, and that means a lot more than a picture of a bridge conveys.

BTW, most of the other forums do not have a pic that exactly replicates the words in their name. They amplify the gereral idea about themselves with a picture. For example, "Scripture, Tradition, Reason," the Anglican forum, does not have a picture of scripture but of stained glasss, St. Augustine (the missionary to Britain) and a candle--all familiarly associated with Anglican worship but not directly reflecting the title. The Voice in the Desert group doesn't have a desert scene or a reference to any voice, but an icon of the Virgin Mary. Conservative Christians have a lion. So, you might say that there's a chance to say more about yourself if the name and the icon do not just mirror each other.

Well, what are we bridge builders between then?

Lisa

Bridge builders between a Loving Spirit and a saving Truth.

Between a hurting, confused world of people -- some religious, some not -- and a Saviour ready to embrace them ALL regardless of differences.

Between the cry of the heart and the understanding of the mind.

Between the fear-driven "faithful few" and the love-infused loyal lambs.

Just build a bridge somewhere dangit. :D

I sent Letalis a pm asking what the hold up is on the name change and he said that he was waiting for the Ecumenical Administrators to get back to him about it. I don't know why, but apparently they have to give permission for it.
