OK, A Christmas Story - I know most of the lines at this point!
"You'll shoot your eye out, Ralphie!" :D
I also love the Salvation Army - they put their feet on the pavement and do wonderful things with the kettle money!

A Christmas Story! That's such a classic. I have to see that at least once each year. Ralphie looks exacly like my dad did at that age. lol
I agree, it's cool to see the Salvation Army troops out too.
Love: the lights
Hate: the shopping (and parking, of course)

Has anyone ever had Tradd Street Punch from the Charleston (SC) Receipts Cookbook? My friend and I used to serve it at our Christmas party before drunk driving was such a problem. If I recall, it was a bottle of vermouth, a bottle of champagne and a bottle of brandy. Guaranteed to put you on your bum after 1-1/2 cups. :D

YA Die Hard -- I watch that every year and love it every time.
Me too. And Die Hard II too. :D
They're particularly funny with all the swear words edited out and replaced with really stupid words. lol
Another movie I love to see at least once each year is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I hate all the rest of that stuff, but the Christmas one is classic!
I also love all the Scrooge movies.
ok.... what up with fruitcake? Can't stand the stuff. I just pick the icing off the top, lol. My mom once made a batch though that was heavily soaked in rum. It turned out more like rum-flavoured fudge. That's the only time I've ever enjoyed the stuff. She doesn't remember exactly how she messed it up, so has not been able to recreate it.
That reminds me of something else I like but don't drink much of, [lowfat] EGGNOG
Now that stuff, I love. But I can't have diary. So I'm stuck with the soy stuff, which is actually not bad as far as soy products go. But it's not exactly low-fat and has just as much sugar. So I don't bother with it too much.

Oh my.
That sounds.... gross, and potent at the same time. LOL
What else do I love about Christmas...
Candle lit Christmas Eve service - such a great opportunity to shut out the commercial crap and meditate on our Lord (be still). Great music too. Usually the best songs I hear in church all year.
I'm totally not a "kid person" lol, but I do enjoy the kids nativity pageants. They're so hilarious!
My parents' old neighborhood puts little sandwich bags with tealites in them out on the road in front of their homes. They line both sides of the road for miles. So incredibly cool to see in the evening. Kinda like this:

cute post - now I have to say... it's kind of a fire hazard to put lit candles in paper bags isn't it?
But I bet it's just beautiful to see!!! I LOVE Christmas lites & all that stuff.

You'd think it would be a fire hazard, but apparently it hasn't been a problem. There are so many people driving around looking at it that someone always stops if they see one fall over or whatever. We've stopped once or twice to do that too.
Of course we're talking about Seattle, where the chances of having a Christmas Eve without rain is very, very small. Usually they burn out or are put out by rain long before they could be a problem. :D

LOL, one year near me the candelaria bags all caught fire in a breeze - it was still beautiful but didn't last long.
