Remember discussing what you felt God called you to do?
I thought you might enjoy this.

Evangelizing for the animals
Appeals to protect all of God's creatures are finding sympathy in the faith community, including on the religious right.
She spent years as an outspoken antiabortion activist, and that cause remains dear to her. But these days, Karen Swallow Prior has a new passion: animal welfare. She wasn't sure, at first, that advocating for God's four-legged creatures would go over well on the campus of Liberty University, a fundamentalist Baptist institution founded by the Rev. Jerry Falwell. Among the Liberty faculty -- and conservative evangelicals in general -- the animal-rights movement is often disdained as a secular, liberal cause.

That is really interesting, Michie! Thanks for the link! Indeed, not all animal rights or animal welfare people are secular liberals - far from it! It has nothing to do with left or right, and it fits in a christian lifestyle - look at St. Francis of Assisi, or at pope Benedict (who loves cats and pleads for better treatment of animals).

Pet your kitties for me.
I was born loving animals. I truly think it is one of God's gifts.

Thank you so much for this.
You are very welcome. :)
I thought it was strange I ran across this so soon after discussing what God calls each of us to do.
Confirmation? :holy:

Although I think the regular animal rights movement often goes too far, I also think it's essential for Christians to treat animals with kindness and respect. God loves animals and doesn't want us to be mean to them.

You are not alone. :) One of the things I love about my Church is every October in honor of St. Francis we have a blessing of the animals. Does my heart good.
National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week Kicks Off with Interfaith Blessing at D.C. Rescue League
WASHINGTON, D.C.-—Episcopal Bishop John Bryson Chane of Washington National Cathedral and The Venerable Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Jampa will bless dogs and cats waiting for homes at a D.C. shelter Saturday, November 3, on the eve of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week (November 4-10).
The 3 pm blessing at Washington Animal Rescue League (WARL) is part of a national campaign designed by the Humane Society of the United States to acknowledge and promote the invaluable role shelters play in their communities and to increase public awareness of animal welfare issues and shelter services.
Bishop Chane is the eighth bishop of Washington and prays to build on the tradition of social justice and mission outreach established by his predecessors.
