Convinced that villagers are being paid to convert, Buddhists and Muslims lash out.

DHAKA, Bangladesh, (Compass Direct News) – As Christianity spreads in this Muslim-majority country, an increasingly frequent refrain is heard in various quarters: “People become Christians after getting huge amounts of money as a reward for conversion.”
The rumor is something more than mean; it has served as the rationale for violence against Christians not just from Muslims, but from Buddhists who make up less than 1 percent of the population.

This is the type of leadership that we have come to expect from Islamic countries today.

It is a volatile combination. On the one hand, you have a rather prmitive, tribal population with poor access to information and superstitious enough to believe the wildest rumors that support their general paranoia about the world.

And on the other hand, there is the totalitarian minded Islamic religious elites who are more than willing to feed the rumor mills that keep their populous ever looking outward for the source of their problems.

The lesson of the cross, by the way, is to rejoice over news such as this as being good. Great suffering results in greatness, and the more that the new Christians of Bangladesh are given suffering, the greater their numbers will become.

In former times, Mohammed and Islam in general realized this, and strived to keep their persecution of Christians very low-key. Constant humiliations rather than bloody violence rather than the Roman practices of total eradication became the norm, adn country after Christian country that came under Islamic domination over centuries became converted to Islam.
The new Islam that has become much more interested in the apocalyptic vision of crosses being smashed than in playing the game of a slow lingering death for Christians.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(Matthew 5:10)

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.
(Matthew 5:11,12)
