View Full Version : I think I have an unhealthy addiction to CF and I need to curb it

I think that as much as we get fed up with things around here, those very things can keep us coming back sometimes...
But that's not what keeps me coming back. I don't really know what to say, but I have spent too much time on CF and I think it's at the expense of things that I gotta take care in life that are unwittingly being pushed aside. If I had the ability to allocate only a certain amount of time here and hence trust myself, it would be no problem.
CF is interfering with my ability to manage my time in other aspects of my life that I already had trouble with, and I don't want that to get worse. Yet I don't wanna totally leave...
This post is probably pointless. (yeah here's the part where you are gonna say, "aw don't say that" or something like that)

set a time limit for your self. this will allow you to visit and spend time and also help you keep time avalable for other parts of your life that you feel are being neglectic.

Excellent advice. That's what I try to do when I spend too much time here. Tell yourself "if you do thus-and-so and get it done, you can spend 1 hour on 4U". If that doesn't work, take a whole week off, get your chores and errands done or work if you must, pour some iced tea and log back on to find out what's happened.

I was leaving CC and your post caught my eye, and I just had to answer.
I have the same problem. :( I find for me it stems from two things (usually). 1) I am a stay-at-home wife and have easy access to the computer and I really like to use it to procrastinate when it comes time to do my housework. 2) I enjoy the interaction I get here whether it's sparks in a debate (not often) or warm fuzzies from fellowship (live for this).
I, too, need to consider limiting my time but the pull of coming back is so very strong that for me it's more than a time management issue. I think I need to deal with the deeper problems I mentioned before I will be able to work out the management stuff.
I hope and pray that you will be able to tackle this very difficult problem and just know that you are not alone in this!
