If we do, I think I'd like to see Jesus among a field of sheep. White, black, spotted.
What would you like to see?

Christ as King, with the angels and saints worshiping Him in Heaven while bellow all the devils and sinners burn in Hell...nevermind
on secound thought maybe something a little more pastoral would be nicer
hmmm or we could just have Agnus Dei, I dunno

I like the other suggestions. But I would not like to see Jimmy Carter's wrinkly face every day. While I don't doubt that he's a good Christian and a good man, I think he was inept (to put it charitably) as president and I completely disagree with his politics.

I think a nice fence would be fun. :P
But if IHOP wins, I vote for a pancake.
Or! Black and white sheep is good. I enjoy being ewe for the Lord. :)

I can make one if ya'll come up with an idea - I also made the banner for TCL (Lutherans).
That's assuming, of course, that we're still allowed to add custom banners.

My suggestion would be built around the theme of communion, perhaps a glass of wine and a loaf of bread.

At the moment, The Fisherman's net seems to be the most popular name, tho. If it wins, perhaps we could use that concept...

Actually the seascape banner for the whole forum is pretty good for that too.

Can't figure how it refers to Moderate Christians, as opposed to any other kind, though. Sounds more like something appropriate to an evangelistic association.

It's what all Christians are required to do.
How would it not apply to us?

What I said was--...apply to us "as opposed to any other kind " (of Christians).
Normally, forums choose a slogan that points to them in particular, as for example, Orthodox Eastern Christians say "the Ancient Way" or Anglicans say "Scripture, Tradition, Reason" -- a famous position statement made by Anglicans about how they are different from other denominations.
As you said, Fisherman's Net applies to all Christians equally and would not, therefore, be anything that reinforces for the reader what makes this forum any different from most others.

I think what will make this forum different from others is that open discussion is encouraged to all. Without the rancor.
Disagreement is expected but everything in sincere charity to one another.
I find disagreement interesting & learn from it if respect is kept in the disagreement.
But when the hot debate comes with the usual rancor & oneupmanship I lose all interest. Because it does not seem like understanding or learning is sought but just another ego driven contest. All the good stuff gets buried under that. And it usually promotes grudges.
I hope that does not happen here.

Yes, I think most here are in agreement with that.

Agreed, but now for the picture/logo--
If we all feel pretty much the same way you just described your feelings about this forum, the logical logo to choose would be one that emphasizes the same thing, right? That would deal with "open discussion," " to all," "without the rancor," etc. The fisherman's net, although a good Christian emblem, doesn't convey that. "Ecumenical" this or that (as came up in one of the suggestions) suggests interfaith discussion, but not anything about ther being no rancor, and so on, which is why I didn't vote for that.
So, what would visually represent the idea that you've outlined here? I admit that I'm having a little trouble myself coming up with an image, but I do think that this--what you said--is the idea.

I still think the net fits. The net does not discriminate.
I've thought about Jesus talking to a very diverse crowd too. All types sitting together.
I'm not real particular about the picture as much as I am about the description under the forum name. I tend to look at the picture as something edifying or brings a smile. But I really can't think of anything visually & consider it to be a perfect picture mascot for this type of forum.

From Scripture-
Come let us reason together...
That might help to form a better idea as far as a visual picture mascot.

A table with a Bible on it? Writings from Early Church Fathers? Just various Christian literature? Peaceful setting?
Various people sitting or standing by the table looking at it. Some discussing?

Good for you for giving it some thought. I really wish a few more members would offer us their ideas too. We may be drawing closer but we still could use help. It's hard, I agree, to think of a visual that says co-operation, calm, or reasonableness. That 'various people' idea seems to be the germ of something, I'm thinking.

I was thinking the various/diverse people could be believers throughout time. Jesus of course in it.... maybe looking on the group. Depictions of some disciples. Martin Luther, a Pope, Calvin, etc. The woman that touched the hem of Jesus' garmet. Can mix it up anyway you choose.
Just looking back through history produces a pretty diverse group. But it is still one body. Many branches.
