Good evening friends,
On HBO FE tonight, I am watching "The Music Man"
I remember a night When My Mom and I took a bus downtown and ate at King Fong's Chinese Restaurant then went to the Orpheum and saw "The Music Man." We took the bus home and got an ice cream cone to eat on the walk home from the bus stop. This was my first Chinese food and my first pistachio ice cream cone.
Mom passed away seven years ago, and I miss her every day. I remember this movie outing like it happened last week. It was forty five years ago. I was nine years old.

Aww, that is such a lovely memory. :) Isn't it wonderful how close we can still feel to our loved ones through memories? Love is stronger than death.

WHat a lovely memory, thank you for sharing it!
Coincidentally my kids are all home sick and were watching the dvd of "The Music Man" yesterday. The one with Shirley Jones, what a lovely movie. They know all the songs as my son was in the musical. They just can't sing them as their voices are too hoarse :(
I can picture that wonderful day with your mom, the movie, the food, the icecream. My mom died 11 years ago and I miss her too. THese memories help, though, don't they?

Rest Eternal grant unto her, O' Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon her.

So true, you never ever forget your parents, and sometime just a little thing we shared together brings everything back. The truth is, you never forget your parents - BUT you also be a parent for life, even if your kids are 30 and have their own family.
