Hi there. With all our bickering and such going on here, it seems that we are missing out on an opportunity to be doing God's work.
There are thousands of people in the San Diego area who have already lost their homes. More are sure to in the coming days. Firefighters could lose their lives, I am sure that countless animals have already lost theirs.
Friends on Camp Pendleton in Oceanside tell me that there are two fires already aboard base, and they are evacuating some housing areas.
I want us to pray for these people. For the people who are losing everything, for the people who are trying to save them, for the people who are opening their homes and hearts to them. I want to pray that there are no deaths, that the volunteers keep up their blessed work.
I live 2 1/2 hours from San Diego. If anyone needs a place to stay or to stash a pet because of evacuation, please let me know. I will do what I can to help. I have an extra room, and I can take one or two small animals or one large dog. I have a friend that has room for a horse or several dogs.
Please, let's use this thread to pray and to post updates. Let's put aside our own issues for a minute to remember that there are some people out there that are losing everything.

I watched the news this am and was horrified - like a firey monster advancing in the dark.
My prayers for the safety of all who are in the paths of these fires. Also, for the health of those who are affected by the smoke. :prayer:

Lord, please help all who are caught up in the disaster.
It's hard to know how to pray in the face of so much need, Father - but You know every individual, every need and every fear.
Lord - we can't begin to understand this - but You are sovereign.
Father, please - help those who have lost everything. Mobilise Your people to provide practical help, Father.
Lord, please comfort and hold all who are in fear and despair.
Help those who are suffering, please Lord.
In the name of Jesus
Amen

And Father, we pray for your protection over our dear sister, Nadiine, who is in the middle of all this. I also pray for healing and safety for her husband. May your will be done, to the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Oh yes. Nadiine, please stay safe. If you get evacuated and you need anything, I am not too far away.
I just saw a video on SignonSanDiego about the Parkway Mall in El Cajon (which is a Westfield property) is allowing its parking lot to be used for horses and other livestock. I called them and thanked them.

Praying for God's protection for all of the residents of Southern California and all of the aid workers.
Update:
- The Santa Ana winds seem to be dying down somewhat, pray that the offshore winds don't pickup & drive the fires in a different direction.
- The Malibu fires are almost totally contained.
- The fires in Irvine have burned 19,000+ acres but very few homes. Mostly uninhabited areas so far (except for animals  )
- Lake Arrowhead area is still burning out of control (3 separate fires) 200+ homes destroyed.
- San Diego: 1/2 million people evacuated, 1000 + homes destroyed.

I was watching Weaponology this evenign with my DH, and they were discussing incendiary weapons -- flamethrowers, Greek fire, etc. It made me think of the wildfires.
I can't imagine having to evacuate my home like that. I saw pictures of the tents up in the huge stadium in San Diego. I tried to imagine keeping my family together, and in good spirits, while fires devastated our home. So long as we were together, i would be grateful. But what a terrible thing to face.

O good and gracious Lord, please bring swift aid to those who are in harms way at this moment. We beseech Thee to protect the firefighters as they try to do their job. Lord, we ask thee to watch over those who have been displaced, please ease their hearts and minds....comfort them in their time of loss, let them cling to their faith to keep them strong.....Please send quick relief in the form of rain or better yet, send your angels to aid the firefighters to put these flames out......
Amen

Thank God the wind is slowing down a bit. Firefighters are actually able to stay and fight a fire rather than running from new hot spot to new hot spot trying to stop new ones.

What news is there? I just hate it when Fox News was 24/7 about the fires and now there's nothing. :(

Definitely keeping them on the top of my list. How is it by you Nadiine?
My Uncle is pretty smoked out, but thankfully, no fire near his home.
You could see the smoke on the google satellite pics big time.

OK, I actually heard a report on Fox a while ago. Apparently the fires were about 65% contained (which doesn't sound that good to me) but that was because the Santa Ana winds had died down. Now it's forecast that the winds will pick up! :(
