Here is a new thread to list your favorite Orthodox Christian websites with a brief recommendation. If you disagree with someone's recommendation, please start a new thread, so we can all be made aware of possible problems. Some websites are maintained by laity and other so-called Orthodox sites are in fact heterodox of which we should be made aware.

http://www.antiochian.org/

This is the official Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of America website. Here you will find Q&A, lives of the saints, daily readings, Church news, a parish directory, etc.

http://www.antiochian.org/theology/first_visit.htm

This is part of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese official website. Frederica Mathewes-Green presents her fantastic article: First Visit to an Orthodox Church:Twelve Things I Wish I'd Known

www.goarch.org (http://www.goarch.org)

This is the official Greek Orthodox Archdiocese (GOA) in America website. I like their online chapel with short reading for saints. They have excellent recordings of sermons. There is a good Q&A section for inquirers and "cradle" Orthodox. Here they have a parish directory by state and city. You will find links to Orthodox news services as well as local and international Orthodox Church news.

www.oca.org (http://www.oca.org)

This is the official Orthodox Church in America (OCA) website. Father John has done an excellent job answering questions, including modern ethical questions. This site also has an easily accessible parish directory with good information about each parish. This site has local and international Orthodox Church news.

http://www.ocmc.org/magazine/

This is the official Orthodox Christian Mission Center website. Here you can browse all their magazines in full color. The articles will inspire you and increase your faith as you read about the missionaries and their accomplishments.

This is Dismas' website -- Excellent job from what I have seen. Great for those who seek to evangelize.

Here's a website by one of our former parishioners:

Fountain of Orthodoxy (http://home.att.net/~kguin/info.html)

It has book reviews, as well as some articles in Spanish & French. I don't know why some of the stuff he has one there is on there, but the book review section is pretty good and there are some other nice articles. Site design isn't the greatest, but hey, its content that matters!

However, this site is not an official Orthodox Church website, therefore, it may contain errors.

BTW: Any website may contain errors: GIGO applies whenever human activity is involved, as we are all sinners and make mistakes.

If you like to listen to Orthodox music, educational tapes and videos...I have been trying to catalog all I can on my site. Hope people will pass them along to those who are curious about the faith.
If you have additions or corrections, pls write me a private message.
Latest addition are some tapes that were made in the late 90s by America's Christian Orthodox Radio Network ACORN. They went out of business...but I am loading the first set of tapes. My priest and I are in contact with them to get additional tapes out of storage so that I can put them up on the net for download. The tapes are excellent and very professionally done.

Check it all out at orthotracts.org

Subj: New CD by Cappella Romana
Date: 3/22/2004 5:14:50 AM Eastern Standard Time
s press release in a web browser:
http://www.cappellaromana.org/MetCD_PRel20mar04.htm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Mark Powell, 503.236.8202 info@cappellaromana.org
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York releases
"Music of Byzantium" by Cappella Romana

20 March 2004. Portland, Ore., Seattle, Wash. — Cappella Romana has released
a new recording, "Music of Byzantium," upon its return from The Byzantine
Festival in London, England, where the ensemble performed in St. Paul's Cathedral
(photo) to an audience of over 1,500, including His Royal Highness The Duke of
Kent, Sir John Tavener, and His Excellency the Ambassador of Greece to Great
Britain.

This disc is released in conjunction with the international loan exhibit
"Byzantium: Faith and Power 1261-1557" at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New
York, available at the museum and through Cappella Romana. Wholesale discounts
available.

The compilation CD features works drawn from recent live concerts and
recording sessions, including music for the feasts of January 1st (St. Basil) and
January 6th (Epiphany) and Imperial Acclamations for Constantine XI Palaiologos
(1449-1453), the last Byzantine Emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire.

Two laments for the fall of the Constantinople may be heard on the recording,
one by Manuel Chrysaphes, last cantor of the Great Church of Hagia Sophia,
and the infamous Lamentatio Sanctae Matris Ecclesiae Constantinopolitanae by
Franco-Flemish composer Guillaume DuFay.

On Sunday, April 18, 2004, at 3:00pm at the Metropolitan Museum, Cappella
Romana will perform the program "Music for the Fall of Constantinople," featuring
music from around 1453, the year of the City's conquest by the Ottoman Turks.
The ensemble will be conducted by founder and artistic director Alexander
Lingas. Performances at Yale and Princeton Universities will take place during
the same weekend.

Cappella Romana is a vocal chamber ensemble dedicated to combining passion
with scholarship in its exploration of the musical traditions of the Christian
East and West, with emphasis on early and contemporary music. Performing music
of the Three Romes, its name is derived from the medieval concept of the Roman
oikoumene (inhabited world), which included not only "Old" Rome and Western
Europe but also "New Rome" (Constantinople) and "Third Rome" (Moscow) and its
commonwealth of Slavic countries.

Cappella Romana made its London debut in March 2004 at the Byzantine Festival
in London, with concerts at Queen Elizabeth Hall, St. Paul's Cathedral, and
the Greek Cathedral of London. In April the ensemble makes its New York debut
at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York during the museum's major
international loan exhibit “Byzantium: Faith and Power 1261-1557” as the final event
of an international symposium. Two other concerts are scheduled at Yale and
Princeton Universities.

Here's a message from Vlad Morosan:

Musica Russica is always glad to carry CDs in its catalog as long as there
is a reliable and consistent source. Otherwise, we go through the trouble of
putting something in the catalog and on the website, and all of a sudden,
the supply dries up. Unfortunately, this is very often the case with these
"estimable CDs" from Russia and Ukraine. In any case, if Don would be
willing to supply the name of the label and/or distributor, we'll be glad to
look into it.

Our upcoming CD catalog, which didn't make it out before Pascha, will have
two fine Ukrainian Paschal CDs -- one called "Velik Den'" (Easter) and the
other "Ukrainian Easter" by the Kyiv Chamber Choir.

Another good source of Ukrainian recordings is Yevshan.com.

Wishing everyone a bright and joyous Paschal season,

Vlad Morosan
