Just think about it. What if Manzikert had not been an disaster for the Light of the Middle Ages, the by us all beloved holy Byzantine empire? What if the Heroes of Byzantium had victoried over the Hunnic hordes, and the evil one, Alp Aslan had felt in battle and Armenia reclaimed? What would the world be like if Byzantium would not had been destroyed by the heirs of the Huns and Cumans?

I believe our Earth would have been a much better place, no great heresies, if Byzantium civilized America, everyone would speak Greek there, none of this secular evil and no worthless "democracies". The Turks would have stayed in Turkmenistan and the Holy city would have been free.

Also, capitalism would not have been as todays Global greed, probably there would be no poor citizens in Byzantium, and the orthodox priests would surely take care of the unlucky ones.

What would the World be like today if Byzantium would have defeated the Turks and survived?

I tried to answer this in a few words, but it would need a book. I'll work on it!

There would have been good chance for the byzantine empire to survive till this day if it werent for the fourth crusade of 1204.

But we might as well not speculate. But keep in our prayers the last two tiny vestiges of Byzantium:
Mt Athos and St Katherines Monastery of the Sinai.

Its truly remarkable at how rich the eastern empire was , yet the last remaining remant of it, that has survived is the ascetic spirituality of monks who chose the poverty over its wealth

How about if the Byzantines hadn't trounced the Sassanids so comprehensively? If they had survived, Islam would not have spread so massively, and the Seljuks would not have had access to the empire (or the zeal inspired by islam). All in all, a much stronger Byzantium and no need for Alexius to ask for Western aid...

But you're right. History is way too complicated to speculate over...

I just wanted to post this video as it shows how Turkey does not fullfill its religious freedom today.... They respect the people of the "Book".... yeah right .... See what happnens to those who convert from islam to Christianity.... sheer discrimination.

I wish it would have survived. What a world we would have today.
