Me and my wife moved a little over a year ago. We live in a far flung suburb without a lot of choices in churches. She don't want to drive far for church. We have not been able to find a good fit for both of us. I have bible school training and worked in the leadership of a small inner city pentecostal church quite a few years back. Since that time doors have not seemed to open for me in any churches that the wife will attend. The desire to serve God in ministry and the anointing to have remained over the years. We don't have a big house but it's not small either. Our living and dining rooms are connected and can hold probably at least 15 - 20 without being cramped. We are talking of starting up in the next 3 - 4 weeks. Just wondering if anyone else here has done this or currently is and can share experiences.

I have not done or been a part of things like that, but I have friends who have. Pray and follow the Lord's leading.

Try it and see what happens. Keep in touch with any questions.

I agree with giving it a shot. Home churches seem more like the NT church to me, plus there will be a day when that will be our only choice as we won;t be able to meet like we do now.

. . .The desire to serve God in ministry and the anointing to have remained over the years. . .
The Spirit never leaves a person and "the gifts and calling of God are without repentance" (Romans 8:29)
What city/town are you in?
How will you attract people in?

at the homechurch I've helped start I'd have to say that one of the major struggles is to constantly remind ourselves that the leaders, or those in places of leadership are specifically a part of the group not to take from it, but to equip the saints. So what I mean is, one of my gifts is teaching, but I'm not going to sit everyone down every night and teach because that would be just thinking about enhancing my gift, or neglecting their needs. The thing I've noticed people need most is direction, and encouragement on where the lord is taking them, so a house church may be just getting together and discussing where God wants to take each person and then helping each other fulfill what God has put in their heart.

Hello Everyone,
I haven't been on in awhile but to answer the first reply:
Yes, we have started and been involved with house churches for 2 years this November.
We have one in our home. We fellowship with another one which has been around for almost 20 years.
We just started another one in a home we were invited into.
We are going to start another one in about a week to another home in which we've been invited.
In this last one, we will go to the inner city streets and witness to the lost.
I am very excited about what God is doing in this season.
We keep moving forward by His leading, not pushing our way but being led by His Spirit.
One soul at a time, one day at a time.
Because of the Cross,
Newday

Praise God for your thoughts. I have started a home church just to be able to love people and to see them grow. I intend to love them and help us all grow to he point where we can move out and preach the word. I am also a church leader, bust as most of us know the churches today are not really what every one would be comfortable with and relationships wont grow in a 1.5 hours of weekly contact.
Lord I pray for your servant that you may anoint him and guide him
