I don't understand what happened. That is the worst part of all of it. That day that she left, everything happened so fast, and I was just standing there. And there was yelling and doors slamming and then she was gone. And she won't come home. And my husband won't back down. It's pride on both parts, but I am the one that is suffering the most for it. :sigh:

But they love each other, and they both you, and they're both loved by God. It must be so painful for you, but please trust that He won't let anything bad or irreparable happen. He's looking after her. She's using this place to keep in touch with you, and gradually she'll come closer.
Teenagers *do* fight with parents, and they do leave home, sometimes. But they don't stop loving their parents. It's horrid being in the middle, but being in the middle is better than being the person who won't speak, because you can hold things together

I don't know the situation and I am not about to butt in, but I just wanted to let you know that one of the things that helped me to understand my husband a little better when he got back from Iraq each time was to try to understand that in his mind, the kids were still the same people as before he left. He had to have some time to adjust to the fact that they were a whole year older. Same thing when he went to Korea. He left for Korea (this was 8 years ago) and his little girl was just that and when he came home, she had become a women (you know the deal). Anyway, hope I didn't overstep, just thought that might help.

What a lovely Saturday morning. It has been raining since Tuesday here! We have been in a drought, not a drop of rain since June. We were down 14 inches in our water supplies and the whole area was on very strict water consumption laws. We have had many inches of rain since Tuesday, probably about 25% of what we need, but Praise the Lord for the rain!!!

Its tough being a mediator and I have learned that we cannot please everyone. This is a tough world, from the flesh point of view while spiritually, we need to understand the true source of mediating.

You are welcome sister.
Through tough times, we must understand God is working in ALL of us. Through GRACE, "Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:4). Grace of heart is a gift from God and this has nothing to do with the thorns because God change our circumstances by changing us internally, by allowing Him to lift us above our present thorn and He will lead us into His will. James says count it all joy when you fall into various trials cause trials have a perfecting work. Peter says after you've suffered a while the Lord will make you perfect. God uses suffering to reveal our spiritual condition. In the midst of the sufferings, what kind of Christian do you see yourself? God answers not by removing the pain, because the pain was productive, rather God gave Grace to endure. In this life it is inevitable and it is useful because it produces the evidence of your true spiritual condition, humility and intimacy with God and allows God to put Himself on display in His grace.

A little boy opened the big family bible. He was
fascinated as he fingered through the old pages.
Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked
up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an
old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages.
'Mama, look what I found,' the boy called out.
'What have you got there, dear?' With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, 'I think it's Adam's underwear.'

It may not be in the Bible, dear Henry,
but it it in my heart that so much love
in any pet or animal also belongs to
the Spirit of God and belongs to a soul.
My greatest friend, a tabby, kept coming back
in my dreams. In one, my mother, who also
passed away was in the same room as my Guy.
Call it what you want, I believe in the
everlasting spirit of Love.

It's actually pretty easy. All you need is a stove top popcorn popper, the kind with the crank on the handle. It's actually pretty fun to do.
If you are interested, go to www.sweetmarias.com. They not only sell the coffee green, but they tell you everything about it, plus how to roast it yourself.

Better serenity than siege.
Actually, using tumbleweed is an appropriate symbol of barren environment.
It became the symbol of the Dust Bowl, a full decade of brutally punishing dust storms that ravaged the American High Plains during the Depression and became the most devastating weather-related event in American history.
Actually, this Russian Thistle was brought over to America by Ukranian immigrants, along with the sturdy Red Turkey wheat grain which was hardier than American wheat, which failed to grow on the high plains.
The fertile soil of the Great Plains was exposed through removal of grass during plowing. During the drought, the soil dried out, became dust, and blew away eastwards, mostly in large black clouds.
At times, the clouds blackened the sky all the way to Chicago, and much of the soil was completely lost into the Atlantic Ocean.
The Dust Bowl was a series of dust storms causing major ecological and agricultural damage to American and Canadian prairie lands from 1933 to 1939, caused by severe drought conditions coupled with decades of extensive farming without crop rotation among cotton, corn and grain farmers using techniques that promoted erosion.
On November 11, 1933, a very strong dust storm stripped topsoil from desiccated South Dakota farmlands in just one of a series of bad dust storms that year.
Then on May 11, 1934, a strong two-day dust storm removed massive amounts of Great Plains topsoil in one of the worst such storms of the Dust Bowl. The
dust clouds blew all the way to Chicago where filth fell like snow, dumping the equivalent of four pounds of debris per person on the city.
Several days later, the same storm reached cities in the east, such as Buffalo, Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C. That winter, red snow fell on New England.
On April 14, 1935, known as "Black Sunday", twenty of the worst "Black Blizzards" occurred throughout the Dust Bowl, causing extensive damage, turning the day to night. Witnesses reported that they could not see five feet in front of them at certain points.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dust_Bowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dust_Bowl)
Just finished the audio book, "The Worst Hard Time," by Timothy Egan.
Tumbleweeds are not funny to those who have read about this disaster, where thousands of men, women, children, and the native animal species suffered and perished.
And I am forced to wonder how the use of the photograph is an example of loving fellowship.

That's great. so glad the house is sorted out, it must be so much easier if you know where you are going. Praying the move goes smoothly. I was an army kid, and I remember the stress involved very clearly!

I credit you for what you do. I was a troubled teen. I had a youth counselor that was wonderful. He really pulled me through some tough times.

OK everybody the topic will be _________choose one of your choice that will catch the eye and Nadine let me know your side and whatever it is I am sure I can argue the other side and be generally disagreeable, seems like that draws em in. Just kidding but seriously maybe we should get some topics going.

ok, LIBERALS.:o LOL j/k  :sorry:
are we talking things that will be controversial or possibly heated? Or...... ??? one thing that's catching some heat right now in the news is seizing the kids of that polygamist compound & if that's ethical?
Not sure anyone wants to go there lol :help:

Well I love the less restricted rules for general debates here now. I actually enjoy it more and understand the rules alot better (becuz there are less of them and we can speak more clearly rather than in CODE like we used to have to do a year ago lol)
I don't get reported near as much now. :P
There used to be so many of them w/ so many restrictions, that you could hardly debate properly.
So anyhooo - I think the more you debate, the more the inevitability that somebody will report you for something.
:holy: :holy: :holy: (I like to think that) lol

Not sure anyone wants to go there lol :help:We could as I am sure there are those who see it as a right thing and those like me that see it as infringement and outright trampling of rights

I agree with you. It's really gray area, but I don't think putting them in the system is going to be better for them in this case.

Just confuses me.... but then, we don't get a lot of coverage of your politics (Too much, imo, but not a lot of detail)
So I never have a clue who anyone is talking about!

Trust me, you don't want to know. This election is definitely a "lesser of two evils" election. :sigh:

Shaping to be the most talked about ever

gosh I thought the most talked about was the Bush/Gore fiasco that dragged on in the court system for ages.
I've gotten to where I dread election time. I used to follow all the politics stuff and I've just lost alot of interest. I continue to vote (usually a lesser of 2 evils mentality) - but I'm disallusioned with politicians & the system gridlock.
My party FINALLY got a majority and botched it with their antics... just disheartened.

agreed
But I heard from a Canadian that their politics & system are just as bad if not worse than ours with people that are unhappy with it all too.
So it's nice to know that it's not just going on here in the USA -
