I have my own view. There seems to be sources saying the Presbyterian church of America is allowing open gay clergy & marriage? I believe in helping those that Oppose the teaching of God, but to support it or embrace it?

Just to be absolutely sure of what we are addressing here, are you speaking of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and not the Presbyterian Church, USA PC(USA)?

Well I am not 100% sure who is involved? Most of what I got was by listening, but on life site It just mentioned " Yesterday the United States Presbyterian national assembly voted in new legislation that gives local bodies the power to allow homosexual clergy." More of a debate on what this might lead too & the points against it or possible for it?
here is one link?

Thanks. I can see the problem in that the article didn't once name the church but only spoke of it as the Presbyterian Church. This is the "Presbyterian Church (USA)" which is the largest and most liberal of the Presbyterian bodies in the United States. I didn't think that the "Presbyterian Church in America" (a conservative body that prior to his death had been led by Dr. D. James Kennedy) would be involved in any of this.
PC(USA) has been wavering on this issue for some time, and it does appear from the link article that a step has been taken in the direction of the gay agenda. Apparently the compromise was to allow homosexual clergy so long as they are not involved in homosexual acts. Most likely, this is the beginning of a much longer debate within the church, one that will feature gay advocates saying that the compromise is inherently dishonest, unworkable, etc.

Well that seems to be a course over time the Liberal split form the Conservative. Then at least some of them feel obligated to compromise in some way. It then slowly starts a deterioration in values that were once of most importance.
Maybe what I heard was taken out of context that open gay clergy were being allowed. Yet Allowing it to be decided at a local level will make it much easier to become accepted somewhere. So I assumed there must be some in favor of it & could not understand why?

First, a technical point. The conservatives in this case split from the liberals because they who had control over the church machinery had already depreciated the values that were once of importance.
That aside, you seem to be on target with what is going on. There was a decision to allow gay clergy, although not throughout the church, just by local option. That seems a small distinction to me. You are correct that there are some in favor and some not, which is why this was supposedly a compromise in which gays who are sexually active are not supposed to be ordained, even by local option.
The WHY of this is nothing more than that the Presbyterians have been divided on this and other social issues for years, just like most of the other mainline denominations. Almost all of them have seen similar tugs-of-war over women clergy, abortion, and other "hot" topics of our time.

PCA would never allow that to happen. Must be PCUSA
