View Full Version : Please join me in prayer tomorrow

I can't give too many details (so don't ask ;)) but a very special and wonderful couple who have been trying to have a child for some 12 or so years now is having a special Divine Liturgy celebrated for them tomorrow as a fervent plea for God to allow them to become pregnant. Time is running out for them. I happen to know the specific physical issue that has thus prevented them from achieving a pregnancy so far, and it is pretty serious - would seem it's not physically possible to conceive - but all things are possible with God. :crosseo::crosseo::crosseo:
I've been told by docs since I was in my mid 20's I would never have children, spent the first year and half of my marriage crying and apologizing to my husband for my body's failure (Moses was wonderful and never blamed me, btw), then boom, our twins were conceived. Like some crazy, weird, supernatural joke that I still can't really believe. Even though the pregnancy was horrible and dangerous, we all made it, and we're even thinking of hoping for another miracle. All things really are possible with God!!!!!
I cannot give names - this Liturgy wasn't even announced in the bulletin, it is a private and painful matter - but please remember our beloved brethren tomorrow - tomorrow is a day of fervent prayer for them.
I believe there are a few other people right here in TAW who are still struggling with this very thing, too. If you would like to post or pm me your Christian names, I can have them added to the Litany, I'm sure.
May God in His mercy grant them the desire of their heart. And please, seriously - write this down and remember to do it tomorrow - I'd love to think of dozens of Orthodox Christians all around the world tomorrow praying for these wonderful folks, who have endured so much pain and heartache.

6 am. :swoon:
The only reason I know is because Mo is the chanter and had to be told so he'd be there to sing. But I'm going to drag my weary behind out of bed and take the kids, too, because they are the fruits of such prayer when all hope seemed lost. Who better to be at such a Liturgy than them?
Speaking of them, the noises I hear indicate they've woken from their naps, so I'll be back later. Thanks you guys!

Well that's good, I can be awake by 6 AM Pacific time... Eastern time would be a whole different story.

Thanks to all who will join in prayer tomorrow. I'd love to see another miracle happen, and be posting in a few months, "Oh wow!! You won't believe what's happened!..."

I haven't had chills like the ones I have now, in sooooooooo long, I will of course pray for them, and will go to the church to light candles in their honor and also beg for God's mercy upon them. Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon your servants and upon Orthodoxa for her outreach!

Thank you all so much.
Though if you really want to pray while we're having DL, there's been a change in plans and it's starting at 5:30 am PST, not 6. *faints* That's in just 6 hours and I'm still not in bed - yikes!!
I cannot tell you how much my heart aches for them to have what they desire. I went through one and a half years of hell before our huge surprise miracle - I cannot imagine 12 years of it.
Thank you soo much for joining in prayer for our friends.

My very best friend in the world and her husband went through 7 years of this. The first 2 were very difficult and risk filled pregnancies. (She lost so many...:( ) Then their 3rd was like a miracle...no Dr.s no nothing...boom. They are devout Catholics and prayed so hard for so many years....I remember...the pain they went through is immeasurable.
Continued prayers!

Well, we had DL. The wife (an extremely stoic woman who rarely shows any emotion) spent most of it wiping away tears. My children, of course, were complete monsters the whole time.
Nobody who hasn't experienced infertility can possibly understand how gut-wrenching it is. I've been there, though not to their extent, and just really feel for them.
We were pregnant just a few weeks after being anointed with oil from a weeping icon of St. Anna. I pray so much a similar miracle occurs for them. Thank you for joining me in prayer.

Aww, that's really wonderful, Ortho. Don't worry about your children...mine are like that on too many occasions. Ugh. Praise the Lord on your getting pregnant after receiving Holy Oil from the weeping icon of St. Anna!

I shall be praying for them, my wife and I are starting to think about children as well. You are right, through Jesus Christ all things are possible.

Please keep us posted on this couple. Perhaps if it is not God's will for them to have children of their own, He will open up the doors of adoption. Lord have mercy!:crosseo: :crosseo: :crosseo:

They have looked into adoption a number of times, and each time did not, could not, go through with it. Though it is a wonderful thing, I don't think it's for everyone, and that's okay.
I will definitely keep everyone here updated if something happens!

Thanks for your support for them. :) It has been my experience that people who have a difficult time getting pregnant sometimes have a rough time STAYING pregnant too (not myself personally, but a number of people I know), so don't forget to send up prayers that this pregnancy grows and succeeds, too. :)
God is just so, so good. :)
