My Australian Cattle Dog just died so i'm not feeling very happy and cheerful today to say the least. I've been on the phone with family so i'm doing fine now.

He had cancer. At 3am Monday morning he was slightly delirious and unable to stand up. That was the first time in his life he could not stand. It was the third day of bleeding in a row and each day was about twice the previous day The bleeding each time had thankfully been brief but it added up over the days.

By sunrise monday Morning i had him well stabilized, wrapped in super warm cold weather gear. I went to an excellent vet. I had set up my dog's bed in my van, put him in it, and drove over to have him worked on outdoors in the van. He was fully aware but quite exhausted still. Only stressed when moved around so i kept him in his bed. My belief is no person or pet should die alone, hitting a cold floor. So i layed along side him and held him very tightly as he passed on.

Cody was age 14 almost 15. We spent an incredible amount of time together. He had a very good life. Plenty of adventure that's for sure. He was not afraid of anything and especially liked the ocean and barking at seals. And exploring the many miles of ocean beaches here.

Sorry for your loss Kobuk. Sounds like you two had many great times together. Hopefully you will be able to focus on those.

Your story reminds me of my 11 year old dog.

Thanks. I'm going through tremendous guilt at the moment for not doing all i could have done to help my best friend during the various stages of his cancer. All i can do now is ask for his forgiveness, though adjusted by the fact he was an animal and this is not supported by Scripture. Though it is a hope that in Heavan as a reward i may see my dogs again. Not making a dogma out of this or new doctrine. Only a hope. That interferes with nothing.
