Some Bible verses stand out as favorite verses to memorize, whether we learned them as children or baby Christians, or whether we memorized them in times of joy or sadness --
What verse(s) do you think fit this category?
"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and delivered Himself up for me." (Gal 2:20)
God bless! :amen:

Psalm 23 :)
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

The ever so famous John 3:16 of course! :)
Another verse that stands out from my childhood is Romans 3:23. There are many others but curious to what others add...:)

The one I've heard most often, even before I became a Christian, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

My choices are all rather long...but they're my 'comfort' verses. :)
James 1:2&3,
'Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.'
James 1:12,
'Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.'
1 Peter 1:3-8,
'Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.'
Romans 5:1-5,
'Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.'

Matthew 28:19, and Matthew 25
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

There are many that i could look to at differant times to receive differant things. I would have to say though, that one of the passages i am most in awe of, would be what i call the 'book of Nebuchadnezzar' lol. I have been in church and asked people to open up to the book of nebuchadnezzar in church, and sometimes it can be funny watching the looks as some flip through and go to the index looking for it :D
It is Daniel chapter 4, which is the testimony of the king Nebuchadnezzar, a type of antichrist that was humbled, but in the end confessed that God IS God and there is no one above Him. Its a great passage, i recommend it for spiritual shock n awe as we see the eventual fate of antichrist before God, Every knee shall bow and Every tongue shall confess

I am not big into memorizing a single versus, as I am into trying to understand the meaning, which usually involves versus before & after. Yet I like these, as I like those above also.
1 Corinthians 1:23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,
"Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
James 2:24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.

Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and death shall be no more. Nor mourning, nor crying, nor sorrow shall be any more, for the former things are passed away.
I have had this verse memorize since I was a child and till this day I still remember it and say it out loud, I even used it as a passage for my uncle's funeral to give people hope.

A few of my other favorite passages involve some of the prophets, those who SAW God and then saw how insignificant and sinful they were...
Isaiah 64:6 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=29&chapter=64&verse=6&version=9&context=verse)
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Isaiah, prolly the prophet of prophets, saw this in himself when he saw God
Isaiah 6:5 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=29&chapter=6&verse=5&version=9&context=verse)
Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Ezekiel 3:14 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=33&chapter=3&verse=14&version=9&context=verse)
So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.
Psalm 53:3 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=23&chapter=53&verse=3&version=9&context=verse)
Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Sometimes i think of how easy it is to take God lightly. We live in a very temperal world which seems to have lost a lot of the meaning of faithfulness and responsibility. I look at my own commitments and flounderings and wonder at God's patience.
Jeremiah 11:3 (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=30&chapter=11&verse=3&version=9&context=verse)
And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant

Ecclesiates 1:
2Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
12I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
13And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.
14I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
15That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.
16I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge. 17And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.
Ecclesiastes 11
13Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

I think this is the most memorised Bible quote that I know of...
Our Father in heaven,
Hollowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.

My prayer for all here..
1 Thes. 5
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16Rejoice evermore.
17Pray without ceasing.
18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19Quench not the Spirit.
20Despise not prophesyings.
21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25Brethren, pray for us.
26Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
