View Full Version : The button sewer...........

I was relaxing quietly this afternoon and suddenly I thought about....THE BUTTON SEWER.....the annonymous person who has sewn buttons on the clothes that I've bought in shops...then I thought of the cutter and the people on the assembly lines who pack the goods....I wonder how many people actually PRAY for these people... or maybe the person in the shoe factory who helps make shoes or hats or any factory industry that many people would consider "mundane".
Look at all the hundreds of tiny items in your home....hundreds and hundreds of them....someone, somewhere has to have a part in making them...be it a thread of cotton, a button, a sheet of paper...ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING.....even those who sell these items to us. What do you think about the idea of perhaps selecting one group of people...and praying for them for a week, or a day. Or you could look at a map of the world or your country and pick a section and pray for people in that region. Or maybe people in different parts of your own suburb.....or people who live in odd house numbers in streets one week, and even numbers the next. You could make it fun and interesting.....
Just an idea I might try for myself.....

This prayer becomes especially powerful when you realize that, in this day and age, the vast majority of the button sewers and shoe makers are dreadfully poor Chinese people, working for wages that, by American standards, are abysmally low, and that they live in a country which remains antagonistic to religion. Such people as these perhaps need prayer the most! God bless the button sewers! :crossrc:

Maybe we should find out the conditions under which our clothes are made?
From an independat source to the company blurb of course.
These sweatshops only exist because relatively rich people in the west choose the cheapo-brands.

That's a great thought, GrannieAnnie! I do wonder sometimes who made my clothes and other stuff I buy...they are probably very poor :( we should definitely pray for them! Thanks for the idea :)
God bless.

Well, it was just a thought.....I think quite often we forget about the...little things...that keep our world turning.....the hidden and silent workers....who make or assemble things we just take for granted in our western culture, the things that don't hit the headlines, the jobs that no one wants, or even thinks about.......these people are vital. Well, I think so anyway..... I'm like most people, I hardly ever think of them....but then, suddenly, it crossed my mind, so I thought I'd share it with you.
Smiles to you all, Annie.
