Hey Everyone:)
I need to write a blessing for a young couple that is going to get married. I have never done this before. Some people at the church are making scrolls and I have been asked to write a blessing on one.
Have you ever done this?
Would you guys give me some tips?
Thanks in advance.

Yikes... I've not heard of that. Is that like a speech? Or does it specific criteria?

No not a speech ,:swoon: Thank goodness!!
They are just like little scrolls of paper and we are to write a blessing for the engaged couple. ( I guess) I am not sure really, I was hoping someone might of done this before.
I cannot come up with anything.

Numbers 6:
22 The LORD said to Moses, 23 "Tell Aaron and his sons, 'This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:
24 " ' "The LORD bless you
and keep you;
25 the LORD make his face shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
26 the LORD turn his face toward you
and give you peace." '
Or are you supposed to make it up...?

The most precious possession
that ever comes to a man in this world
is a woman's heart.
-- J. G. Holland
Wishing you
A house full of sunshine,
Hearts full of cheer,
Love that grows deeper
each day of the year.
-- from an old Welsh blessing
One word frees us
of all the weight and pain of life;
That word is love.
-- Sophocles
We are born for love.
It is the principle
of existence
and its only end.
-- Benjamin Disraeli
In as much as love grows in you,
so in you beauty grows.
For love
is the beauty of the soul.
-- St. Augustine
Love is like a rose,
the joy of all the earth...
Love is like a lovely rose,
the world's delight.
-- Christina Rossetti
Life is to be fortified by many friendships.
To love, and to be loved, is the greatest
happiness of existence.
-- Sydney Smith
Love is not getting, but giving.
-- Henry van Dyke
May your joys be as bright as the morning,
your years of happiness
as numerous as the stars in the heavens,
and your troubles but shadows
that fade in the sunlight of love.
-- An Old English Blessing
Nothing is sweeter than love;
nothing stronger, nothing higher,
nothing wider, nothing happier,
nothing fuller, nothing better
in heaven and earth...
love flies, runs, and rejoices;
it is free and nothing can hold it back.
-- Thomas a Kempis
God, the best maker of all marriages,
combine your hearts in one,
your realms in one.
-- Shakespeare
True love's the gift which God has
given
To man alone beneath the heaven...
It is the secret sympathy,
The silver link, the silken tie,
Which heart to heart, and mind to mind,
In body and in soul can bind.
-- Sir Walter Scott
We do not wish you joy without sorrow
Nor endless day without the healing
dark,
Nor brilliant sun without the restful
shadow,
Nor tides that never turn against your
bark.
We wish you love, and strength, and
faith, and wisdom,
Goods, gold enough to help some
needy one,
We wish you songs, but also blessed
silence,
And God's sweet peace when every
day is done.
-- Dorothy Nell McDonald
From every human being there rises a
light
that reaches straight to heaven. And
when
two souls that are destined to be
together find
each other, their streams of light flow
together,
and a single brighter light goes forth
from their united being.
-- Shem Tov
Love feels no burden, thinks nothing of
trouble, attempts what is above its
strength, pleads no excuse of
impossibility
It is therefore able to undertake all
things.
-- St. Thomas Aquinas
Love comforteth, like sunshine after
rain.
-- Shakespeare
A marriage...makes of two fractional
lives a whole;
it gives to two purposeless lives
a work, and doubles the strength
of each to perform it;
it gives to two
questioning natures
a reason for living,
and something to live for;
it will give a new gladness
to the sunshine,
a new fragrance to the flowers,
a new beauty to the earth,
and a new mystery to life.
-- Mark Twain
Happiness is only in loving.
-- Tolstoy
Any time that is not spent on love is
wasted.
-- Torquato Tasso
Heaven give you many, many merry days!
-- Shakespeare
Who can doubt that we exist only to
love?
We live not a moment exempt from its
influence.
-- Blaise Pascal
That love is all there is
Is all we know of love.
-- Emily Dickinson
Those who love deeply never grow old.
-- Sir Arthur Wing Pinero
The world is full of beauty
when the heart is full of love.
-- W. L. Smith
Love means the body, the soul,
the life, the entire being.
-- Guy de Maupassant
Love is the life of the soul.
It is the harmony of the universe.
-- W. E. Channing
Give all to love;
obey thy heart.
-- Emerson
Were there nothing else
For which to praise the heavens
but only love...
Only love were cause enough
for praise.
-- Tennyson

Pray about it. Ask the Lord what He wants to say and then write it down. I've been there and done it! It can be very touching.
Try not to copy something, go with what you are inspired to say.
Example:
"May you be blessed with many years of peace, joy, love and prosperity. May the Lord grant you patience when you need it, joy to offset the sorrows and wisdom to raise your children."
Keep in mind that thes practices come into being because people believe that spoken words have power:Mar 11:23 -24“I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
God Bless

My boss writes poetry and he framed this for his brothers wedding anniversary. He gave me permission to send it to you:
Prayer for Guidance
Guide us to willingly acknowledge the challenges of life’s journey.
Teach us to accept sacrifice as a blessing of opportunity to share our love.
Bless us with awareness of each others desires enabling our vulnerability to become a source of strength.
Guide us to make choices from truth, trust, and introspection allowing us to fulfill our potential to dwell in the House of the Lord.
Teach us to walk on the path of encouragement, commitment and forgiveness releasing our fears, anger and judgment.
Bless us with wholeness, keeping our marriage in balance.
God Bless
