I've been arguing lately about this with a atheist. He says that the Herucles story is similar to the Jesus story and so Christians stole some ideas from their. Whats your opinons on that.

Similar beliefs doesn't mean that the "newer" one stole from the "older one."

I've been studying classics since I was about 9, and there are NO similarities there. Please specify what he means. Jesus did not throttle two snakes in the cradle at Bethlehem, and Hercules would have sooner spat at lepers as healed them, to name but two differences! Caution is always required when atheists start talking about such similarities. A huge amount of wishful thinking goes into it, and even academic atheist historians do not try to veil their own bias when writing. It's a shame, as these normally gifted writers seem to abandon all standards of scholarship when given even an indirect opportunity to attack religion!

One have to be very careful to talk with atheist. I personaly would prever PV to do this, for example. It's better if you realy know 'your subject' very well.

Along with friend JMC309, I see no similarities at all between Jesus and Hercules.

The only similarity i see between Christ and Hercules is that both are called the Son of God (or in the case of hercules the son of a god),

Other than that I don't see any similarities.
