Genesis 1:26 reads:

26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." (NIV)


How are we to understand the revelation that human beings are made in God's image?

I think it means spiritually. Until man fell into sin, we were as holy as God.

As to physically... well, Adam spoke to God with the same ease we have when speaking to one another, and our design and shape had to come from somewhere, so maybe we really are copies of God physically.
