You are very determined. I'm going to 3 solas in 5ive minutes and will make an update in my thread probably tomorrow. This time I will have pictures!! :) Can't wait to show you the things that happen there. What are some good file hosting sites? I'm still new to uploading pics to the net.

And somebody please tell me why I have 4 wiki's! What did I do to get them?

Bob Spix is a great man in our church. He was at 3 solas today, and kept asking question after question. All of which he already knew the answer to.

He is also one of the first persons to ever hack the Pentagon. This is back in the day when hacking wasn't heard of. So, the government gave him a big wad of money, and told him to never do it again nor tell others how to do it. I'll do all the uploading tomorrow. Right now, it's hot, and I need to get some sleep. Way too much to do right now. (homework.)

Well if you guys could somehow roll back that minor piffling ruling about non-Lutherans starting a thread for a debate I could help you alleviate the boredom here. I know, I know, suggesting change amongst Lutherans is grounds for excommunication. But I'm throwing it out there anyway. LOL

I happen to know a non-denom Universalist who has said he would love to debate Universalism here. You guys could chew on him for a while. That would be fun! LOL I don't talk to him anymore as I've concluded he is completely off his rocker. His cheese has slipped off his cracker, and every other cliche you can think of. LOL

But why would we want to invite someone who is reportedly "off his rocker" to debate in here at all? Sounds like it's an invitation to a flame fest.

I have no problem with people coming in and asking legitimate questions in debate form, but purposely inviting someone in who's "cheese has slipped" is a recipe for disaster, especially after we've fought so hard to keep nincompoops like that outta here.

I don't know what to say PR-----------she never tried at all. Even though she said she tried to "fix" things. I'm really observant and I still don't know what went on.

I've lost my enthusiasm for life. I should be out gathering and cutting wood and working on my "farm" that I love. But I just can't get motivated to do anything. I've lost all interest in anything but getting away and traveling. I've let my friends and family slide. I'm getting to be a cranky old man. I can't even get any interest in seeing other ladies. Just seems to be too much of a hassle and not worth my time.

There---I had my pity party.

These things take time. You need to allow yourself some time to process the grief of coming to terms with the future and outcome of your life that you were set on. It's not something that's going to happen in a short time.

As hard as it is, you should force yourself to take care of the work tasks around the house. You'll feel better and it will likely help clear your mind of the fog being created by your focus on what's wrong. It works for me and I'm a hard-headed analytical thinker, too, which is not always a good thing.

When people don't do what they said they were going to, it's hard for use to get our heads around, right? You sure as heck meant your vows, why didn't she? I know exactly what you're going through, but it will pass, if you allow God to take the weight of it off your heart and out of your head. You must pray for mercy and relief. He will help you. You know that.

Have you been going to church? Are you being fed? Is there a pastor you can just sit and vent with? Does AAL sponsor anyopne offer counseling services in the area? I saw an Aid Assoc. referred counselor for a while after my divorce and it did help.

I really wish you'd find someone trained and ordained to share your feelings and disappointments with so he could help you find some peace and resolution within. A collar would be the first thing I'd seek. Surely there is someone who would be willing to help you begin to heal.

RadMan
25th September 2007, 02:06 PM
I was counseling with my pastor for awhile and he helped but I have a problem with using him. Odd feelings stand in the way because, to me, he hasn't fulfilled his call and therefore I can't take him seriously though what he says has helped me somewhat. I am in transition on finding another church so I wouldn't be using him anyway.

I just ran out of my 5HTP and that helps when I take it. I need to get back on it. I use that instead of prescription meds. I have an affinity against drugs.

Thanks for your insight.

I have some good news that might cheer people up.

First of all, my brother started his new job this week. He has climbed the ladder of success so quickly, and he is even quicker to give God the credit for it. Now he and his family must move, or else he faces a two hour commute one way, and it bothers him terribly to be away from his daughters.

PLUS...

They just found out they are expecting, TWINS, again! My twin nieces are 5 and just started Kindergarten. They were born on Christmas Eve. This time around, she is due around the end of May.

This has been an interesting time for babies in our family. My mom was somewhat sad in that she might've had three sets of twins in the family, but she is still joyful about the upcoming babies.

Prayers for Seajoy and everyone in the prayer thread.

Twins--wow. My husband's sister has twin girls, seniors in high school now. Once in a while I can even tell them apart. I have a cousin who once wrote in the family history notebook at a reunion "still single, not seeing anyone". 10 years later, he had 6 kids, including 2 sets of twins--one set of boys, one set of girls. My neices' birth announcement read: "double our pleasure, double our fun".

I knew that was a bad idea. :doh:Yea but it's an exercise in constraint for me and somewhat of a comfort that I can hopefully now have a dialog without going off the deep end. I've been dealing with anger and resentment for a year now and with God's mercy I hope I can see my way clear again and not fall into that pit.

He said he would love an opportunity to debate universalism in the Lutheran forum. I find it odd that I'm still waiting for him to actually get to a defense for universalism. Who knows when that'll be. One of the things that is frustrating in talking to him is that he can't stay on topic. He's all over the place, jumping from one topic to the next without any clue of where he'll eventually end up. He's ranting now, but wait til he gets to the raving. Then the real fun begins! LOL

Yeah, I'll ask that a mod close it down. I had no idea that Ben would not be able to read through the thread to see what had been posted so far on it. A good working definition of Universalism was given by JimFromOhio in post # 5 and I had told people to read through the forum rules, so there would be no breaches of forum rules. I had no idea it would turn into a thread promoting the nonsensical ravings of the lunatic mind, if I may quote Gene Wilder from Young Frankenstein.

Ya think you might have waited a bit too long? It's hard to discuss theology with a guy who thinks the Bible has hidden meanings.

He seems a bit beyond help in this kind of setting. I don't know that any good could have come from it.

"Ya think you might have waited a bit too long?"

Not at all. I think the thread could still be salvaged if Ben would agree to post on universalism and not run off on tangents that don't lead anywhere. The thread was set up just fine and in accordance with forum policy. We had a working definition of Universalism provided by JimFromOhio in post # 5. All we needed was a universalist.

So then Ben showed up, probably didn't read anything that had been posted previously, which is evidenced by his claim that there was never any ground work or foundation laid for the definition of universalism, and derailed the thread by talknig about mistranslations of the Bible or whatever it was he went off on upon his arrival here.

But none of that matters now as the fun thing to do is come after me for supposedly breaking the rules of this forum. Which if you read back through this very thread, you'll see that I did not do.

"It's hard to discuss theology with a guy who thinks the Bible has hidden meanings."

I agree. I thought he would be a man of his word and stick to a debate about universalism. I was wrong about him on that front. Tavita was worried that the Lutherans would try and get out of this debate by reporting any post that contained a teaching they didn't like in an effort to get the thread shut down. Looks like she was right about that one. I hate saying that she is right about anything, but hey ya gotta hand it to her on this one. She nailed it.

"He seems a bit beyond help in this kind of setting. I don't know that any good could have come from it."

Well, he does have the air of superior spirituality about him doesn't he? Everyone is in Baby lon and drinking the spiritual milk and is not ready for the mature meat of the Bible. But when you read his posts and I can point you to dozens, you realize that the meat he's eating has made him prideful, arrogant and completely ignorant of the plain meaning of scriptures. As to what good could have come from this, I was actually learning how to deal with people like him in a much more calm and simple way. But we'll never know what could have been, because the thread is now closed and people are filing false reports about me and what I've done. I'll let the mods decide my fate on this one.

I reported Ben. I found it a help to no one on where his diatribe was going. I can go to any denom site and find in 500 words or less what the premises of their beliefs are. Trying to nail him down to any subject even close to what UC according to him was an exercise in futility. It doesn't take ramblings in esoteric web weaving and slly nuances to get points across about scripture. There are no hidden meanings or hidden agendas that God has.

We didn't talk in circles and his esoteric ramblings even when he quoted scripture didn't support any premise in UC that I know of.

And BTW Zecr he wasn't reported because we decided it " contained a teaching we didn't like". It was shut down because he present himself under false pretenses. He never got to the point of UC and when he continued his ramblings it was obvious he was bent on expressing his own personal religion based on obscure mysteries, numerology and opinion based on his obscure interpretations of the Bible. Which was one of the "things" that he said were an anathema to him. He basically doesn't trust anyone but himself.

Yep if root beer is made the old fashion way it is unbelievable. Even though this is one recipe there are others that vary some what. The secret to the unusual taste is the yeast. I would add a quarter cake more.

Ingredients:

1 cake, compressed yeast
5 pounds, sugar
2 ounces, sassafras root
1 ounce, hops or ginger root
2 ounces, juniper berries
4 gallons, water
1 ounce, dandelion root
2 ounces, wintergreen

I was told the best remedy for a hangover was Pedialyte. But nothing will ever beat a cold tile floor for a hangover! LOL

DaRev
3rd October 2007, 11:16 AM
The only way to "cure" a hangover is to prevent one. :P

A hangover is caused by dehydration. When you consume alcohol, it displaces the water in your system, kinda like a brick placed in a full bucket of water. Then while you are sleeping the alcohol that has replaced the water in your bloodstream evaporates in your lungs (which is why you have "booze breath" the morning after). Your system is now dehydrated which causes the "hangover" feeling.

To avoid this, drink water along with your alcoholic beverages. It will help keep your body hydrated even after the alcohol has evaporated, thus eliminating the "hangover" symptoms. Works every time.

RadMan
3rd October 2007, 12:15 PM
Pedialyte helps with the electrolytes that are drained severely during heavy drinking and dehydration.

Ask any CMT and they'll tell you to also hook up to an oxygen machine. Helps get rid of the toxins. Also drinking irritates the intestinal lining and keeping the acid level low the next day with baking soda and diet 7up helps to.

PreachersWife2004

I am very proud of the fact that though I could drink most of the guys under the table, I only dealt with a hangover once in my lifetime, and that is because I foolishly drank a whole bottle of rum all by myself while watching ER. Not my finest moment, either, but it taught me that I never ever wanted to get drunk like that ever again. I think I was still intoxicated the next morning, and I woke up in a not-so-nice pile of the night before's dinner. I was VERY lucky - I could've been a statistic that morning.

Oh yea, rum's a bad hangover. My worst hangover is a tie between a bottle of Patron Tequila and New Years Eve 1987. Half a bottle of Johnnie Walker (black), half a bottle of champagne, and a quarter of a bottle of, and I've never been able to find it since, Bubble Gum Schnapps. I probably should've died of alcohol poisoning. I hear you can get Bubble Gum Scnhapps in Canada though.

I'd like to thank Rad for asking for prayer for me, and thanks also to those who have prayed.

I am posting this from a psych unit at a major hospital. My meds are messed up, as am I. Crying is what I've been doing a lot of.

This afternoon, I will also be having some tests here at the hospital. The doctors think I have breast cancer. I will know this afternoon.

I know I have come here way too many times for help from all of you, and I should be handling my problems myself. Some of you may think by now that I cause all my own troubles. All I know is that I'm in a ton of pain in my heart. I thank you for your prayers.

God bless,

And I am ALWAYS here for you. Please email me if you ever want my number so you can have an ear to listen to you. kaemea at gmail dot com. (that goes for any of you brothers and sisters!!!)

Thanks to all for your prayers. Our Lord has blessed me with a good report. I do not have cancer as was first thought. Here is what happened.....
The mammogram had showed a large nodule, and it was compared to my 2005 mammogram, that showed nothing. It was then thought that I had a fast growing cancer. What the doctor did today, was look at all my mamms over the last 10yrs. The large nodule showed up on every one "except" 2005. So what happened is that I had a bad mamm in 2005 that did not show everything. This "new" nodule is exactly the same size as it was 10yrs ago. So, ladies....have your mammograms done every year. They are so important to have a history for your doctors to look back on. And remind your doctors to check your old mamms....so as not to scare one have to death, unessasarily.

Thanks be to God for His mercy on me. Prayers for others whose tests don't come out the way mine did.

I am still in the hospital, being detoxed off the drug that was no good for me. The drug has given me thoughts of self harm, erratic, and depressive thinking. It has hurt those around me, as it's so hard to understand. I tend to be rough on myself when things like this happen.

Mental illness is hard sometimes. It hurts the person suffering it and those around them. I'm only telling all this to help bring the illness out in the open. If I can ever be of help to anyone, please contact me. I've been living this for 23yrs.

Only Christ can help one who feels as I do. I praise and thank Him for being my friend and yours too.

Those are the toughest types to help. I actually feel very blessed in my illness, as I can tell when I need help. I also have a deal with my doctor and husband that I will always get help if I feel like hurting myself.

Keep supporting your sister, and try not to place blame on her. Tell her you love her, and there is help out there, and there is no need for her to feel so sad and worthless. Tell her you will keep praying for her and that Jesus is her dearest friend.

Her type of problems, she's heard voice's like coming through the tv or radio or outside the window, thinks people, everyone including family members, are doing stuff to her like gassing her, messing with her car or tanning her, things like that. She's called the police before on people. She can't live in one place very long because she of this stuff, she's afraid to leave her car, she hangs on to everything she's got. She won't go to church, she was a member at my parents church and she went up there or called one and told them to take her off the membership list. We don't know what to do, we've told her nicely that no one is doing anything to her it doesn't help.

Scizophrenia (sp?) is one of the most difficult of all mental illnesses. I feel very badly for you and your family...but also think of the torment your sister lives in, day in and day out.

I have an idea, but I would speak with a psychiatrist first....maybe "go along" with one of her fears. A simple one like about the voices coming through the TV. Tell her you hear them too, and you know of a doctor who can get rid of them. It's a thought, anyway. Because you are never going to convince her otherwise, until she is on the proper meds.

Always tell her how much Jesus loves her, and protects her.

Although I haven't posted, Angie, I have been praying for you. And now prayers of thanksgiving for the good news about not being cancer.

Psalm 91 (God's Word)

1 Whoever lives under the shelter of the Most High will remain in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the LORD, "[You are] my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust."

3 He is the one who will rescue you from hunters' traps and from deadly plagues. 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. His truth is your shield and armor. 5 You do not need to fear terrors of the night, arrows that fly during the day, 6 plagues that roam the dark, epidemics that strike at noon. 7 They will not come near you, even though a thousand may fall dead beside you or ten thousand at your right side. 8 You only have to look with your eyes to see the punishment of wicked people.

9 You, O LORD, are my refuge! You have made the Most High your home. 10 No harm will come to you. No sickness will come near your house. 11 He will put his angels in charge of you to protect you in all your ways. 12 They will carry you in their hands so that you never hit your foot against a rock. 13 You will step on lions and cobras. You will trample young lions and snakes.

14 Because you love me, I will rescue you. I will protect you because you know my name. 15 When you call to me, I will answer you. I will be with you when you are in trouble. I will save you and honor you. 16 I will satisfy you with a long life. I will show you how I will save you.

Someone said something to his wife this morning, said they should be at the church the 1st and 3rd sunday of the month, the interim pastor is supposed to come once a month, this other pastor has been a few times, wish they would fill in with real pastors. Hope this does happen. I think I keep hanging around to see what happens when they do get a new pastor. Hoping things will change around there. Right now they are waiting for names from the district. Said they should be getting them anytime now. So they should be sending out some calls soon.

it has been suggested to me that I stay off here for awhile. I'm sorry to have included you all in something I'm supposed to go through alone.

Just because we are Christians and we know that all things work to God's glory doesn't mean we're supposed to suffer in silence.

Don't let anyone tell you that you shouldn't be here, Seajoy. You have as much right as anyone else to be here, and it doesn't matter whether you are sad, happy, alone, or whatever emotion you happen to be feeling at the time.

I would hate to think that this place isn't a haven for those in need of a hug or a comforting word.

I haven't been here long, but as far as I have seen, I don't think you need to worry about leaving. Maybe whoever said that was in a bad mood that day. I don't know. I just know that the more I worry, the more stressed out I get, and the more stressed out I get, the more my health declines. (not to mention the stress it puts on my family) I try to live each day the best I can, and if I have any questions or problems, I talk to God. My husband and I will pray for you.

This person did not mean it in the way I took it. This person was not sure if it upset me more to be on here than to be off.
It was a total misunderstanding on my part only. Please do not defame this unnamed person. Thank you.

Seajoy, only you can know if being here helps you or not. It's a choice that only you can make.

I know that taking a hiatus can be healthy (taken a few myself when I need them!), but when support is needed, this is a great place to get some! :)

I'm sorry, I did not mean to defame anyone. I obviously misunderstood what they said. I did not mean to offend anyone. Please forgive me.

Don't worry Hope (love the name, by the way, it is one we are considering for our next child, due in Feb.) I think it was me that defamed them, and I have since removed the line that did so.

Seajoy,

Just so you know, Hope and I are here and we are more than happy to pray for you. It is my earnest prayer that God will guide you through this. Just remember, it is when we are at our lowest points and we feel like we have been abandoned that God is carrying us.

Its a good thing to be able to talk to people when you are depressed and being able to let it all out.
Hope you get better soon and we all love you here. God bless you.
